Rejected today as well sigh Fridays have a different meaning now lol

I think they let us off the hook one Friday to give us a false sense of security before doing this again

haha i was in the second group. i talked to more second group people but think i got most of the names from first group people though...

i'm excited for 10/15 even though 90% chance we don't hear anything from them lol

good luck with the rest of your interviews!

To be honest, I don't think I remember anyone's name, only how they looked like lol. And thanks, good luck to you too!

Do you think they mainly base interviews due to stats? MCAT and gpa wise? This rejection is rattling my mind right now

During my interview day dr arias stated that they prioritized the secondaries over the rest of the application. I think as long as you are above a certain gpa and mcat threshold they mainly look for whether or not your personality matches the school.

It's about your entire application. Your personal statement weighs in just as much as your stats do and maybe even more according to dr arias. I believe USC leans more toward mcat score, but that doesn't mean their decision is solely based on it. Remember: your application consists of a personal statement, LOR, secondary essays, activities, and stats. Lots of reasons why, but it'd probably be better to focus on what you can do right now with other schools (update/interest letters, secondaries)

I was in oct 2nd too! Didn't Dr. Arias say 4-6 weeks? (Which is early to mid November)
 
Do you think it means anything positive if we haven't been rejected yet? Besides just the obvious.

They seem to be reject happy so I think no news is good news here.

What kind of answer are you looking for? We haven't been rejected yet, so that's a good thing I guess 😕. For now, no news is good news brother!

Yeah, they tend to have a very quick turnover on rejections as well. I feel that USC has a more unorthodox way of selecting and screening applicants. Seems to work out okay for them. Also, the first batch of II's was typically high stats applicants. So us "normal" applicants must wait for our turn.

If anything that should tell you that stats aren't the only things they look for in your application. Not calling out anyone in particular but I always find it funny when people say things like "3.9 gpa, 38 mcat, I don't why I got rejected", as if those numbers alone, regardless of the rest of your app, demand an automatic invite and acceptance or something.
 
I just realized I didn't inform Keck of my 2012-2013 plans. None of the secondary questions asked for this, but I'd prefer that the Admissions Committee know. Did anyone else submit this information? If so, how?
 
I'm pretty sure if they wanted to know what your plans were, they would have asked you.
 
Did anyone ever ask when we could expect to hear about admissions decisions? My interview was 9/12 so I assume I was early enough to hear in their first round of decisions.

I didn't ask but last year they informed people on 10/17, which seemed to be the first date possible so....maybe today??

But, again, that's far from official.

When i interviewed 9/12, they said they meet often and that decisions are usually made in 2-3 weeks, but don't ask before 4-5.. Hopefully this week!
 
Woohoo! First acceptance! Got the email 20 minutes ago. Interviewed 9/12. Good luck everyone!
 
Congratulations to all those accepted!! I keep thinking how awesome it would be to find out today. Interviewed oct. 3rd so it probably won't happen, but I would be sooooo happy!!!congrats again for you doctors to be!!!

Also, how hard is Keck for OOS applicants? I heard all the California schools pretty much choose 90%+ of their matriculants from California.

Here's MSAR data for matriculated/interviewed/applied OOS followed by IS:

45/205/2882
133/319/3585

So it doesn't look to favor IS terribly heavily...I'm OOS, been complete since August 8th, nothing. Hope this helps, best of luck!

Interviewed on 10/2 accepted today 😀.

Sorry this is a dumb question. But when they say accept this offer within 5 days that's not binding right?
