Congrats on your acceptance!!

I thought the trend for post-interview news was every two weeks, but I sure do hope they send out more post-interview news next week!

Looks like this is just me, but rejected pre-interview this morning. Can't say I wasn't expecting it. Oh well--guess we weren't meant to be, USC. Good luck to the rest of you guys!

You're not alone 🙂 I am officially pre-interview, post-rejection.

Anyone start looking for housing yet?

Yep! Looking around Pasadena and Silverlake. Also looked into City View Terrace, but I'd rather be some place that I'd enjoy living.

Can anyone share a run-down of housing options near Keck or maybe if someone has the one that students publish from last year?

Also, why is it that barely anyone lives on campus?

Maybe because the area isn't too great... I heard the rapper Biggie Smalls was shot on that corner of school...Biggy and Zonal or something lol this might be a rumor...

There's a thread on SDN called something like "Keck Living/Housing Environment" which talks about this. What I understood is that many students live in South Pasadena, Silverlake, and Los Feliz, with others living in Downtown LA and closer to the beach. There seems to be one building near campus that students live in too. I haven't really heard anything about on campus housing.

I think people choose not to live super close to campus not because of safety concerns but because they can! Why would you live in a blah area when 10-15 minutes away there are some seriously fun, hip neighborhoods? People who come to Keck love the location in LA, and want to take advantage of that. In LA, you pretty much need to have a car anyway, so why not?

Pretty sure he was shot near the Peterson Museum which isn't near there!

I wonder will any decisions be given out today. I have been checking this thread and my email once every 5-10 minutes all day

If someone starts a FB group for your class (and posts the link), I'll upload last year's new student housing guide. I'll also throw in LA Magazine's top 100 affordable eateries list to get you guys started on your foodie adventures.

Come on Keck, do a 2nd look this year!! Pretty please?

Do they usually put on Second-Look days?

I'm pretty sure they did in the past. I believe they are undecided about this year so far.

I know Dr. Arias told us that we should expect to hear back within 3-6 weeks, but I have a friend who heard back in 2, and another who still hasn't heard back and it's been over 6 weeks...

for you guys that have been accepted, how long was your wait time post-interview?

THANKS! 🙂

^

A few days short of 4 weeks for me.

I think it was a little over 2 weeks for me. Good luck!

^Shoot, sorry to hear that 🙁

Looks like I won't be hearing back for at least another two weeks huh... 🙁

Does anybody know or have any ideas on how they organize sending out acceptances/waitlist/post-interview rejections?

I'm trying to figure out if the reason other ppl from my interview day got accepted but I haven't heard anything is that my interviewers were late to submit their evaluation of me or if the committee needs more time to decide my fate or if they are holding off to WL or reject me...

I don't know about your particular situation but I do know that earlier in this thread, someone from my interview day got an acceptance 2 weeks later. And when I didn't get anything that day, I thought I was getting rejected. Well 2 weeks later (4 weeks total), I got my acceptance email. So I'd say if it's been a week or two, give it another week. If it's been over six weeks or so, then it might be time to start drafting a letter of interest/intent

Waitlisted FML 😡😡

I know how it feels, I was wait-listed here as well. Kind of sucks since its my number 1 choice, but life goes on.

I've also heard that there is a good amount of movement off the waitlist, but there's really no way of knowing for sure what our chances are. I'm just more curious whether or not Keck does post-interview rejections. It would help me get a better idea what the value of a waitlist spot really is.

Thanks. It's been 4 weeks already. My patience is really wearing off! But I guess I'll get started on that LOI just to be safe..

A waitlist is valuable, regardless of whether or not there are post-interview rejections. Keck interviews less than 3X their class size. Acceptance statistics aren't really representative of your individual chances, but if it makes you feel any better, USC has one of the highest post-interview acceptance rates because they interview so few. It's something like 70% acceptance rate post-interview if you're IS and 60% if OOS.

When do people start looking for apartment mates / living arrangements? Do most people wait until it gets closer to May? Or is it too late by then? Or do we just wait until the Facebook group is created? :naughty: Haha.

Hi guys! Has anyone who interviewed middle of February heard back?

I interviewed in the middle of February and I haven't heard back yet. I was perusing this thread and it dosent seem like decisions are given out Mondays?

Just received an invite for an accepted students dinner in April. I'm not sure if this is in lieu of or in addition to a second look day, but it's exciting regardless!

Huh? I haven't gotten that yet! Jealous

This may be true because the invitation is from the Office of Admissions and the Office of Diversity. The event date is April 18th. Did anybody else get this invite?

Yup, I got it (and I fall into the URM category).

Your mdapps says you are East Asian though? That's not URM...

I reported disadvantaged status on my AMCAS application though. Unless they think URM is only defined by race, then I guess I'm not. By ethnicity and other measures, I am.

Fairly sure that for the purposes of the application, at least, URM only refers to overall race/ethnicity. Disadvantaged is another category and =/= URM.

I don't believe they are. I know that the Office of Diversity is having an accepted students dinner, but I think that is it.

Not me! Not URM. 🙁
