NMonte82, do you happen to know if a new batch of acceptances is coming out this week or if they will go out later, like after the April meeting or May 15? Thanks!

I was wondering about this too- I know no acceptances were reported on SDN after the February adcom meeting, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen. Otherwise, the last round was way back in November. Really hoping they're getting ready to send out some good news this week!

I know - I was looking at the facebook group that had been started for the class yesterday and there were 59 members. That makes me optimistic that they will be handing out another 50 or so acceptances, but who knows as that is just speculation.

anyone interview in late Feb and not get the message that a decision has been made. If so does that mean we have to wait till the next meeting in april?

scotttrev, I called to see if I had been reviewed at a previous meeting and they were happy to tell me that over the phone (although they obviously didn't tell me I was waitlisted over the phone, just that I had been reviewed)

Just an FYI, most of the people on the Class of 2017 facebook page are current 1st or 2nd year students. It's tempting to use it as a bellwether of acceptances, but it really isn't a good measure.

Does you online status say you have been reviewed or does it still says hopefully you enjoying your interview experience? thank you.

good to know lol thanks

No - the committee was meeting soon after my interview (this was in January) and they weren't sure if they were going to get to review people who had been interviewed recently so they said we could call to find out if we had been reviewed. I called the next week and they said that my file had been reviewed at the meeting. I eventually got the status saying that my file had been reviewed and the following week I got the status saying I was on the wait list. My point was just that if you haven't gotten the "your file has been reviewed" message, you might be able to find out over the phone if your file had been reviewed or not. Sorry for the confusion.

oh oops, thanks for clarifying - i guess it was just wishful thinking on my part

Is marginal pass actually reported on the transcript? I was under the assumption that it is reported officially as a Pass but internally it is noted and if you get more than 2 MP there are some consequences. Am I wrong?

anyone get a status change today-- waitlist or acceptance?
I just checked the online applicant center and my status has changed from "we're reviewed your application..." to "out-of-state wait-list." I'm very excited!! Interviewed on 2/19/2013.

Did anyone who interviewed Feb 26, 28, or Mar 2 get reviewed or do we have to wait till april?

That's correct. Marginal pass is for internal use only. It's really just a way of trying to help people that may have struggled with a particularly difficult subject (which is everyone at some point or another.). No negative connotation to it, and not reported on transcript as such.

The 'consequences' you're referring to are minimal at most, and are not unique to UVM. All schools perform academic assessment reviews of all students to ensure that each individual is meting standards set by the institution and the LCME. Not something to worry about. 🙂

Good luck to everyone who were just placed on the waitlist. I have my fingers crossed that you receive good news soon. :xf:

Good luck to all those placed on the waitlist! Hope to be joining you soon...

Why is everyone so excited to be on this waitlist??? Is being on this waitlist different from other waitlists???

Thanks! Yea I was wondering the same. I've been on the waitlist since January- nothings happened.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that this 'waitlist' isn't a waitlist in the traditional sense that all the spots for the class have been filled. Apparently for UVM, almost everyone gets put into this waitlist post-interview and then people are accepted one by one.

So it's not really a waitlist. They should probably rename it because it sounds misleading.

Yea it's basically a post interview hold- everyone gets put on hold, and then some get accepted. Some are on hold for very short periods while others are on hold indefinitely until the class starts without them. Then you get an email saying orientation started, good luck next time (happened to me two cycles ago after waiting about 8 months). Just like any other waitlist, you are not guaranteed acceptance, and like most other waitlists you have no idea where you stand as its not ranked.

Hey
I was an applicant in the 2011/2012 cycle and had an interview in march.
I was waitlisted and didnt get accepted 🙁
but i really liked the school and am going to reapply this cycle 2013/2014
do any reapplicants have any advice for me on what I can do to improve my chances of getting an Interview again and getting accepted this time around

thanks!

Did you talk with Tiffany Delaney the director of admissions at UVM? I spoke with her after I didn't get in off the waitlist and she helped me identify issues with my application that I could work on. I'm currently waitlisted again, so I dont know for certain it helped at UVM, but I did get other acceptances this time around and a lot more interviews (had 3 interviews the first time, 9 this time).

I retook the MCAT and worked full time in research for two years, but it really depends on what your app needs.

Good luck!

so is the week of February 18th the last week the admissions committee evaluated at the March meeting? has anyone else who interviewed the week of Feb 25th or later get a status change ? thanks.

I interviewed Feb 28. I too was wondering if anybody from the week of Feb 25th got a status change or do we have to wait until the next meetings?

you guys could probably just call the admissions office and find out if you've been reviewed- they're very nice

So, basically, A, B, C, D

Not really. More like H/P/F. UVM doesn't rank or calculate a GPA, and a Marginal Pass doesn't show up on your transcript. I think A/B/C/D is a fair way to describe the system at some other schools, but not here.

Random question, but does anyone know how UVM views multiple MCAT scores? Do they take into consideration the highest, most recent, or all of them?

Does anyone else still have the preliminary review status that says it takes 6-8 weeks? Secondary complete in August and still nothing. Admissions office told me that it really does mean the file has not actually been reviewed yet...

Hi all. I received an invite to interview this Wednesday, and my interview date is scheduled for next Tuesday. I couldn't be more excited! Does anyone who has already interviewed have any advice or recommendations? Thanks for your help. Best of luck to everyone.

Single interview. Mostly conversational. Low stress day overall. Good luck

are they still people who interviewed before the Jan or March committee meetings who still haven't got a status change to decision has been made, waitlist, acceptance, etc? does this mean mostly a rejection is coming.

Just called admissions after being waitlisted last Wednesday (IA: early feb). Apparently they're using a "new" system of delivering acceptances and there should be considerable movement off the OOA waitlist over the next month.

In short, I don't think we should fret about not receiving an acceptance after being on the OOA waitlist for just 4 hours. It seems that surprisingly few acceptances have been delivered since Decemeber. This info helped to quell some anxiety for me!

Bon courage!

If history is any guide, there should be several waves of WL acceptances occurring in both April and May. There will also almost assuredly be acceptances going out in June & July [and even August] though the numbers understandably are smaller the closer it gets to the date of matriculation.

In short, even though I know it's a stressful time for everyone trying to make plans for the coming year, it's far too early for anybody to really worry about WL movement.

anyone who interviewed Feb 25th or later get the status change to reviewed following the March meeting?

Personally, I'm hoping for singing telegram.
