Are you IS?
I also have a less than 30 MCAT but I'm really hoping UVM is as holistic as they say. I would love to go here!
Way to go on the II!

The 2016 M1 class has a median MCAT of 30 or 31, and I think the median subject score breakdown is a pretty balanced 10-10-10. Obviously some of us got in with less than 30 MCAT scores.

if your score is in the high 20s your chances should be respectable based on this admission trend, especially if your score is balanced.

Good luck guys!

small pooled for over a month now 🙁
anyone last year get an ii after sitting in the pool for more than a month? sent a LOI about 1.5 weeks ago.

(3.3ugpa, 3.8 ggpa, 37 - maybe my ugpa has wiped me out?)

There are multiple people in my class (1st year) that have a sub 30 MCAT, including myself. UVM is fairly holistic so If you have a sub 30 or a lower than average GPA, you can still get in as long as you have other SIGNIFICANT STRENGTHS in you application. However, chances are that you will be waiting for a while

So being small pooled for a significant time isn't a death sentence? :luck:

Finished the interview. Everybody is SO NICE. And the interview was a really fun, pleasant conversation. Good luuuuuuck!!

Just checked my status for the first time since submitting and found that I've been small pooled. Good news or is everyone small pooled?

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Interviews are held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays between mid-September and mid-April. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Vermont and your patience with the admissions process.

not all are small pooled, and not all small pooled are chosen to interview. But all interview invites are to those that are small pooled.

It is a necessary next step to go from secondary to interview. Congratulations. 🙂

The big question is would you attend an interview when you already hold an acceptance elsewhere?

To UVM? Yes I would 🙂

Thanks the info!

It's a select group of applicants.

I actually received a small pool last month. But now, checking my application, I am listed as:

We have received all materials you have indicated on your supplemental application and your file is under preliminary review. Please note that the preliminary review of your file may take 6-8 weeks. Please continue to check your status through the Online Applicant Center.

+1. Thought they would send an e-mail as well, so not sure how long I've been small pooled. Time to creep on past year's threads and find small pool stats...

Would a letter/email of interest be better or worse received than a phone call? How often should LOIs be sent?

(I am OOS and already interviewed)

You can do both. I would send a GOOD letter once every three weeks and put in a phone call once a month.

I understand Vermont loves attention, but that wouldn't be considered excessive?

if you have average stats like a 30 mcat do you think it is a good idea to send a letter of interest. do most people who get an interview send a letter of interest. thanks.

Not excessive at all. When you interview there they tell you once every three weeks is fairly normal.

As for what to say when felling them, go back a couple of pages and look at some of the previous responses. That question has been answered before on this forum I think. If that was not sufficient I'd be happy to send you some more detail.

I submitted my secondary on 8/10 and still have the 6-8 week wait status on my portal. Anyone else from that time frame gotten an update on their status? I know it hasn't been 8 weeks yet but I'm getting restless!

was complete last week after sending in my secondary in early august- small pooled a few days after being complete!!

^^ seeing stuff like that makes me feel like i have a glaring blemish on my application, a lot of my top schools, uvm included, are ignoring me. 😕

Don't worry too much about the small pool. I was pooled pretty late in the season, but still got in.

Finally updated to the "complete and under preliminary review" status today. I submitted on 8/6 exactly 8 weeks ago (OOS)...

"Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We will be contacting you shortly regarding the status of your application."

AHHHHH! I've devolved into a child because of the wait. It's killing me! I can't wait any longer....

SAME. when do you think they will contact us?

Oh I sure remember that anxiety...

Try to distract yourself. As long as you're not rejected (ie. they waitlist almost all OOS applicants initially), you're in good shape.

To those who have already interviewed, when does the interview day actually end?

In the II email they said to expect to be there until 3:30, but its been my experience that most of the time the interviews end a bit before the listed time.

I think 3 to 3:30 sounds about right if you're in the first interview group.

Interview and tour is after lunch, so don't expect to get out earlier than mentioned before.

if you have specific travel plans, you can request an earlier interview slot, there's flexibility there if you make that known ahead of time

First post on sdn 🙂 INVITE and super STOKED! I was complete mid-August. OOS (FL resident).

I'm looking for flights now to Burlington and they're all pretty pricey. :/ If anyone is going to be there on the afternoon of October 31st, let me know if you want to meet up! Interviewing on the 1st!

Interview invite for the first as well! Not sure if I'm going but I'd like to meet up if I do!

Just got the "pooled" status update! Not sure if excited or scared.

Think I shall call them tomorrow or something to let them know that I am happy about the status change and can't wait to hear good news? <-- too presumptuous?

I have similar stats/profile (32R, 3.88 c, 3.80 s, good ECs, research, lots of clinical experience) to many of those who have been small pooled and invited to interview but my status is still the "6-8 weeks" thing I've had since I submitted on 8/15...should I be losing hope? should i send in an LOI? 🙁

I got pooled too only to receive an II a few weeks later. I'm not sure how much an assistant picking up the phone will be able to convey your enthusiasm for your specific file to the person reviewing it.

Good luck!

A bit presumptuous and awkward.

Just call and express interest and enthusiasm, as if your status hadn't changed.

I'm also waiting for them to contact me!!!! If they waitlist all of us (oos) how do we get off the waitlist, because I know a lot of their students are oos?

Many of the OOS students are just pulled off the waitlist, per decision of the Director. In my experience so far, there does not seem to be anything concrete that she uses to decide which students get off the WL. If you interview here, send lots of letters to the director. Many of us who are currently at UVM did that and got in. Students are pulled from the waitlist throughout the entire season, until the first day of classes. Two people in our class got in one week before classes started this year. Best of luck!

My status changed to small pooled within this last week. Woohoo progress! OOS applicant here.

I submitted 8/6 (and had all my stuff in LORs, MCAT, etc.) and wasn't marked complete until 10/1. I'm guessing long waits are normal with this school, hang in there.
