To anyone who hasn't received a secondary yet (including me), don't worry. Apparently the director of admissions is/was on vacation and he/she hasn't sent out secondaries to all the states yet. Only some areas have gotten them. The person on the phone said more will be sent out on Monday 🙂
Thank you so much! I was freaking out that something was wrong with my app.

I was verified before 06/29, live in CA, and got the secondary 07/27. MSAR says they send everyone secondaries, so I wouldn't worry if you haven't received one. There isn't much writing involved, as people have mentioned, mostly just an optional Additional Info section of 1000 characters. And they seem like a pretty fair school, so maybe they even compensate for sending it to some states later than others.

I have a question for those who have received the secondary. What is the purpose of the additional information that you can add for each required course? I'm assuming its just if you need to explain a grade, or maybe explain that it's an atypical course for the requirement. Is this correct?

Good luck everyone! I hear this is a really great school!

I think that's the idea. I can't bear to leave anything blank yet had nothing to explain, so I just put what I was counting it toward. For example "Biology lecture" in the box next to Endocrinology.

Maybe they like california more 😀

I'm a cali resident who was verified on 7/18 and received the secondary on 7/27. They must be doing them by state.

got this secondary! is it a big deal if I've gotten two speeding tickets? one of them I don't even count bc i got pulled over for going 34 in 30 -_____________-

When assigning the frequency of each experience in the Experience section, what are everyone's thoughts as to the differences between "Continuous: weekly activity throughout" and "Periodic: weekly- monthly activity throughout"?

Does Continuous mean every day, although it says weekly? Where should I place an activity that I do once every week?

for things I did weekly during the semester I just said continuous

Got the secondary today (East Coast). Will try to do it tonight after work.

Just got the secondary and also submitted...that was actually very, very easy!

Got it this morning and submitted! They seem pretty OOS friendly and their averages aren't too ridiculously high. Good luck to us all.

If I did research once a week during my Sophomore year only should I put only once or continously?

Yep just received the secondary. good luck to everyone!

verified 07/06...received secondary today and submitted...one more down..two more to go

Continuously. Can't remember the exact phrase, but there is a qualifier at the end that is something to the effect of: ...during the time you were engaged in the activity.

AMCAS verified yesterday (7/30). Received secondary today (7/31). Submitted today.

OOS (Oregon resident). Very non-traditional (read as OLD!). c3.56, s3.64, 31R.

I'll be joining you on this train.

HAHAHA NO! I'm 24 now so I haven't gotten tickets in a while but when I was 18-20 I got 3 drinking tickets and disorderly conduct for urinating in a ally (long story but I had no where else to go). You're fine, I've talked to plenty of adcoms and advisors and they don't really care about the stuff I did so don't worry.

Got mine this morning, submitted recently. Wow, that was a breath of fresh air...
Very excited about UVM!

Edit: I also had a couple traffic tickets. I don't see why they even ask about them, they're pretty absurd.... Maybe they're trying to gauge how much money their state PD can pull in off of us? That's what traffic violations are for anyways, right? 😉

So does submission of payment equal submission of secondary? Ididn't get a notification or anything.

Log into the secondary application again, I have this message:

Dear Sexy Beast:

Your supplemental application has been received. Please note that it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed. You should continue to periodically check on the status of your file through the Online Applicant Center. We appreciate your patience!

MedPR, looks like we're going head-to-head this application season.

If your tires are slashed before your interviews, it wasn't me. I swear typicalindian has it out for you. :meanie:

shut up I thought we had a deal to sabotage him together??? wtf man 👎

Hope you love me as much as I love you now, UVM. 😍

Does "Criminal Conviction or Adverse Judgment" include institutional action? The wording of this section on the application makes me think it's only in reference to legal issues. Please let me know asap. The explanation doesn't elucidate the issue much either.

If it appears on your application, I would suggest revealing it. "Adverse Judgment" could mean anything, really.

Either way, you're kinda screwed anyways, but best of luck!

There can only be 109. You're not getting in my way!

Muahahahaha

Sounds good. I'll be flying to 99% of my interviews 🙂

I don't think I'm much competition for the two of you. I mean, I am URM but my stats are still pretty low.

Yeah I knew you were URM, means we're not really competing for the same spot anyways. 😛

I did not include institutional action as I read the questions the way you did. Also, that is already revealed on my AMCAS app (unlike the traffic violations and speeding ticket info requested on the secondary). I did not double check this with anyone, so don't take my word for it.

So, if we have a traffic violation from a few years back, is that going to hurt our application?

I called the admissions office yesterday asking about this (wasn't sure if I should include a ticket that was dismissed) and the lady said to include it to be on the safe side. She said the question is more for if you get accepted and they run a background check, it doesn't influence your application otherwise. Hope that helps!

So she's saying it does affect our applications in the most obscure way possible. Hmmm

sounds like she was saying you don't want to look like someone who is hiding/concealing things, no matter how trivial they may be

So you're saying they have you fill something out they really don't care about and put no weight into? Just to make sure you prove you're ethical post-admission?

There's a logical fallacy in there somewhere. If they didn't care, why would it be on the application when no one else has it?

wow you are so confrontational! i thought that when you said in the above post that it matters in an "obscure way" that you were questioning if it matters at all. it's not a big deal. yikes.

Don't mean to be offensive, just pointing out that if they put it on their application, they want it there. In some way, it pretty much has to impact the process unless it's a vestigial part of the application (for example, some of JHU's questions are artifacts of an older application).

If they are honestly looking for 'honesty' and 'integrity' this is kind of odd way to do that. What if someone got a ticket for going through a 'red' light and got the ticket mailed to them (camera) and never found out? Are they corrupt? This isn't that rare.

It's just a very moot question, and I don't entirely understand it.

Alright y'all, chill.

If it's something that will come up on your background check, you disclose that and explain the circumstances on your secondary-- you may be asked about it during your interview but you'll have your responses prepared by then. You can find out the results of your CBC by making an account at Certiphi and paying ~$60 for your peace of mind (I'm not sure if they check traffic violations, can't remember... but err on the safe side). Done. It won't hurt your application unless something shows up on your CBC that you didn't discuss already.

Good luck with your applications. UVM is a fantastic school and I love it here.

7/31 - AMCAS Verified
8/01 Secondary Submitted

That was easy 😎

Not to sound a bit strange but what is everyone writing for additional information question? Is it to write what you have done so far to improve your chances of getting into medical college as I am a reapplicant or what activities have I been participating till I sent in my AMCAS? I know its a stupid question but just needed how everyone is going about with it..

I wrote about why UVM. I doubt there is a wrong answer to the additional comments.

I wrote nothing, if it doesn't ask to beg for a spot, I figured they didn't care to hear it. Someone mentioned in another school's thread, yeah if you're not interested, why would you be applying? Hence my blank section.

This advice was from a different school's adcom though, so I don't know if it applies here. They said it wouldn't help nor would it hurt.

Lol. yeah my neuroticness got the best of me when I saw that blank text box. 😛
