Interview invite this morning! OOS, submitted 7/27! <3 Vermont, had to ask to move my interview date though.

Congrats dude. Don't forget to put in a good word for me while you're up there. 😉

Also, I had no idea you had already gotten so many other interview invites. You're a beast. 😀

I was small pooled on 8/6. Too early to send a LOI? Or if I call them what do I ask them? Do i just ask them questions like "when should I be hearing?" or ask them what "pooled means more indepthly"?

First time applicant so I'm a little new

If you call, say that you know you are "small pooled," UVM is at the top of your list for medical schools, 1 reason why you love it, ask them to make a note in your file about you contacting them, and thank them for listening to your call.

So like for example, "Hello I am ____________ and I was small pooled, blah blah blah my top choice blah blah blah?" Dang so scared

While you are filling out secondaries and waiting for interviews, you need to grow a backbone. You have a lot of practice to do for an interview, if you are scared of making a simple phone call.

You are trying to enter medicine... This is a people profession, and you will have to tell/do/act all kinds of different things with people.

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope to see you at some point. UVM COM is an amazing place, and I cannot imagine going to a different school (granted I have only been here a week).

YYYEEEESSSSS!!!!!
"You are currently scheduled for the following interview:

Thursday, September 06, 2012 1:15 PM. Your status is Confirmed."

OOS, secondary submitted July 27.

"Optional: enter any additional information regarding the courses you selected as meeting our minimum requirements."

Did anyone do this? If so what was your approach? I feel like "optional" essays aren't really optional, but these aren't really Real essays either...... Thoughts on this?

Since some of my class names didn't make it obvious as to what requirement they filled, I just listed what each class would be used as. "Meets requirement for biology lab, Meets requirement for biology lecture, etc." Probably completely unnecessary, but I was feeling paranoid.😳

Okay good. Thanks! 🙂 I wasn't sure if maybe they'd want something like "This class was so great and educational, I got to learn all about acid base reactions which changed my perspective on being a doctor and made me realize I want to develop an acid-base based medication to cure cancer...":laugh::laugh::laugh: Maybe not that bad, but I wondered if they wanted to hear something about the class or not.

I have to say, I was a little dismayed when I got to the residency history question since I'm an army brat, but it was really fun laying out all of the places I've lived! haha 😀😎

This school is looking more and more attractive to me. Nice looking facilities, only 2 hours from montreal (my entire family lives there). For the first time in 15 years I'll be able to drive there whenever I want to visit my grandma and cousins. Hopefully they'll grant me an interview. I think I'll send a letter of interest pretty soon.

my status still only says my application has been received...nothing about being complete...however, i called the admissions office and they said I am indeed complete and ready for review...silent rejection?

Same.. my status says app is received but it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed. But when I called they said it was ready for review... I really really hope its not a silent rejection lol

When did you submit?

hmmm....same. i have the same status too. i don't think its a silent rejection. wouldn't they just outright say I wasn't small pooled? 😕

Ready for review means they haven't reviewed your app yet, so no

man i hope i haven't already been rejected! 🙁 it would be really discouraging if they took one look at it and said "no thanks"

Damn...I got this status

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Interviews are held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays between mid-September and mid-April. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Vermont and your patience with the admissions process."

How likely am I to receive an interview invite?

You've been small pooled! Congratulations!

It means you're in the running for an interview, just like the email said.

I know for the tours people have said they switched into nice looking black flats. Otherwise I'd go with heels. If you look in the interview clothing #3 thread they have a ton of advice that is super helpful.

K thanks. I'm a guy, so I don't think heels would be that appropriate. 😵

Yeah I think the "wear comfortable shoes" is generally a recommendation for those who intend on wearing heels. If you don't already have men's dress shoes, find a pair that's comfortable to walk around in and you'll be good to go.

How bad is it to push the interview back for a month? Are they pretty flexible with rescheduling??? Can any Vermont students comment on this?

Is it recommended to send LOIs to the office through the online application center? Or would email be better? (Or is it irrelevant?)

+1.. but apparently i'm complete as per the person I spoke to in the admissions office... I wonder what they're doing...have they sent out rejections yet?

I'm guessing you can be complete without having had a person actually review your number/qualifications in order to invite you, pool you, or reject you.

i was going to call them and ask but they said not to call the office for updates regarding the status of ur app

Small pooled today! Submitted 7/27.

Submitted on 7/31 too. Hopefully theyll get to us soon! Congrats to everyone who's been small pooled/received iis!

same here....called the office twice and they assured me I was complete regardless of the lack of the status update...submitted 7/31

Pretty sure that automatically shows the date on which you logged on to the site. Every time I log on it says "last updated" on that date, even though it's said the same blurb about 6-8 weeks for processing. If you keep reading into stuff like that all the time you're gonna go nuts. If you're not in the pool to get an interview, I'm pretty sure it'll tell you that. If you are, it'll tell you that too.

II for Oct. 4! Submitted 7/29, small pooled 8/13.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Finally complete and under review 8/16.
Submitted 8/31
