Any idea when the committee is meeting again?

when I interviewed beginning of december they said their next meeting would be mid-January. Hopefully that means next week. I'm guessing by now they have a pretty good backlog of interviewed applicants to go through, so who knows when they'll get through everyone.

That would be great, I interviewed in nov, so it would be awesome to hear from them!

II today for 1/24. Anyone have an idea of how many spots they have left? Is it late in the game for them? Thanks.

do you mind saying when your application was complete?

I submitted 8/10 and was small-pooled 10/14. I also sent a LOI a few weeks ago indicating I would be in the area, and my II corresponds to the dates I requested.

congrats! i think you are still in a good spot... they interview until april from what i remember or at least march!

Just an FYI, it is not late at all in the season. At this point, I would venture to say that maybe half the class is full. Majority of folks in the first year class (at least those that I spoke to) interviewed post Jan 1, so you are all in a good position still. For those wait listed, keep writing them letters! UVM loves to hear that you're still interested. For those wanting an interview here, keep doing the same. Try calling the admissions office and express your interest as well. Last year, some of my classmates got interviews within hours/days after they called. It works! PM me if you have any questions.

For those accepted students, one of you guys should start a UVM College of Medicine Class of 2017 Facebook group. I started it around the same time last year and it was super helpful to connect with future classmates on many levels. Many current roommates are together because of it, some people had social gatherings in their respective cities before medical school started and it was nice to just have a resource to ask questions. Once someone starts it, post it here for everyone else to join! If no one wants to do it, I'm happy to start one for you.

DrMarty--good thought. I've created the UVM College of Medicine Class of 2017 group on Facebook. Looking forward to meeting y'all!

any idea when vermont will send out decisions in January? thanks

checking my status every 20 minutes. maybe I should just call and ask what day the committee will meet. . .

I am pretty sure it is tomorrow. At least that's what I remember being told in december

I remember the same date. I just recall them repeating that we would have some sort of update "the week of Jan. 15th". Hope to hear soon.

Hey guys, I received an interview invite yesterday but I was never "small pooled". What does that mean? What is the interview like???

I was complete around mid to late october.... never sent a letter or called. I'm OOS is that why i wasn't small pooled? What does it mean to be small pooled anyway?

If you're OOS and waitlisted after interview, does that mean absolutely no movement until May? Just keep sending love?

Or will there be movement before May?

Is it true all OOS are initially waitlisted after interview?

From what I gathered on interview day they would waitlist virtually everyone that is ultimately accepted. (almost everyone that is accepted is waitlisted for some period of time, but not everyone that is waitlisted is ultimately accepted, obviously). They told us pretty explicitly on interview day that the first action post interview would either be waitlist or rejection. They also said that they accept from the waitlist at random times. Some people wait until May, some people will be accepted after only a day or even a few hours on the waitlist. Have you heard any news or just wondering?

Hearing nothing so far, only waitlisted.

wait, you have been waitlisted and you're in the current November-January review group? Or did you find out that you had been waitlisted a while ago?

A while ago. One or two weeks after the interview.

It was definitely January 15th that they told us the next review board would meet at my interview. Anybody hear anything yet?

Small Pooled! Complete 9/6... This has been an epic waiting game

I checked and just got the same status change today (I checked yesterday or the day before and I was still at "Hope you enjoyed your interview, your file will be reviewed blah blah..."

Interviewed 11/20

Yes, that is the status they put up after the committee reviews your file post interview. Last month it went up on a Thursday, and people got in the following Tuesday. We could be delayed a little with MLK this monday.

Congrats. I've also been waiting for 6-8 weeks since the beginning of September... hoping to get some kind of movement this week.

Correct me if I'm wrong: if you get wait listed, it only shows up on your status page? If you get accepted, you get an email in addition to the status change?

I'm waitilisted since the "reviewed" after my interview. It's on the status page...

I interviewed in mid Dec. and my status has still not changed to "Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We will be contacting you shortly regarding the status of your application." Mine still says "...hope you enjoyed your interview...". Anyone else interview about the same time and are yet to see a status change?

Yea I interviewed in November and have still not received any update to my status. It still says that it will be reviewed soon...

I interviewed early January and no status change here.

Hey, I was complete in July and I still have the 6-8 weeks status here. 😆

Interviewed 11 December and mine still says the same thing. I don't think that means anything though, I looked at last month's acceptances and some of them said their status never changed before they got the acceptance e-mail. Fingers crossed!

Hey guys I have some questions for those that go here/those who have already interviewed.

1) What makes UVM unique? What is it that separates UVM from other top tier institutions? From looking at the curriculum, it doesn't seem vastly different save for rotations after 1.5 years and that public health project.

2) What is UVM most proud of? From the interviews I have been too, schools like to highlight particular things that make them who they are.

These 2 questions might seem a little redudant, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated. 😍

THANK YOU

Hey! I just interviewed here in November and was accepted, so I won't have as much input as a current student but I'll give it a shot!

1) I think you hit the nail on the head with the 1.5 year pre-clinical curriculum, not so much with the public health project. On my interview day, Dean Jefferies spoke extensively about the curriculum. It seems that the administration takes great pride in the curriculum, and they are always updating and adapting. I heard from students as well that that administration is passionate about gettin student feedback about the school and the curriculum. So much so that they get surveys on everything haha. I did hear students say that the public health project was hit or miss, not too specially if you weren't interested in it, but could be a great experience if you put effort into it.

2) Same as your first question, it seemed like UVM was really proud of the Vermont integrated curriculum

Thanks for your response!

Did anything stand out for you in regards to the curriculum besides for the short pre-clinical time? It sounds great that they value student feedback. Do you feel like the school really pushes community involvement? I've seen it mentioned a few times

Is this the small pooled status change -- "Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months" ?
