Yep. I went from a long block of text saying I'm complete, to:

"Your file is complete, and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for further decison."

Same.

Your M.D. file is now complete.

Nothin' about forwarding.

Just got the further status this evening... Fingers crossed here! 😛

Status change explicitly said: "The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken."

I got the "May" status change. I was complete July 23. Here's to hoping for an II in the next month or so.

...And I'm back on the long block of text saying I'm complete. This is getting a little frustrating. This is what happened to me last cycle, and I was ultimately rejected. I get the feeling time is about to repeat itself.

Same for me. I'm sensing a rejection as well.
Edit: Just realized that I went on the long block text after they (finally) loaded my fourth reference letter. Perhaps the frequent status update changes are related to VCU receiving new information about your application.

Finally got an II here! Just a quick question for anyone who has interviewed here before, how long is the interview day? It looks like they are pretty flexible with scheduling a time for the interview itself, but is there a tour, lunch, etc.?

Edit: Nevermind, answered my own question after selecting a date.

So I have had this status for over a month now:

"Your M.D. file is now complete. The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application. Once the review is complete, your file will be prioritized, and interviews will be granted based on your priority score and the date your file was completed. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates."

This seems like a silent rejection to me since I have been complete since 7/23. Any thoughts?

I can't seem to find a straight answer... can anyone share the 2012-2013 secondary essay prompts?

That's standard. They'll tell you if the game is over. Don't worry. MCV tends to have one of the more transparent admissions offices....

I submitted 3 weeks ago, and my letters were submitted way before that. How long did it take for your guys' letters to be matched to your secondary and receive a complete e-mail??

It definitely took me a good 3 weeks or so... I would say give it another week and if it hasn't been matched up by then, give them a call.

Could someone post the questions from the secondary? I've looked though this thread, but I can't seem to find it. I'd like to start it now since I have about a month until I'll get a secondary. 🙂

Describe your unique qualities and how they might contribute to or benefit our medical school class.

From what I have heard from the students who needed hosts so far, they are only given our numbers (not our emails). MCV does it kinda weird in that you're just given a list and you contact us. I'd personally prefer a text over a phone call (at least initially). A simple "Hey, my name is Starstarie and I have an interview at MCV on [Date]. I was wondering if you might be willing to host me the night of [Night before interview]. Please let me know. Thanks!" would work fine. If you don't receive a reply back within a couple of days, then I would call. Do give us a solid 2 days so get back to you, though, as schedules can be busy and we may want to check with roommates and/or our class schedule and personal calendar prior to responding.

FYI, I don't recommend asking for more than one night with a host if you can avoid it. I would also suggest trying to get an interview date earlier in the week and not near any holidays, breaks, etc. when we are most likely to have exams scheduled as you're not likely to find anyone willing to host right before a major exam. (Yes, Admissions schedules interviews straight through exams. I don't even think they are aware of the M1s' and M2s' schedules when they ask us to host.... Or at least, they don't seem to take student hosting into consideration when scheduling interviews.)

Hope that helps. I am happy to consider hosting you if you are in need of a host. Just PM me.

👍 If anyone needs hosting, I'd be happy to host too. Just make sure you're not psychotic, if you are it's okay MCV has a great psychiatrists but take your medication before coming to Richmond.

Thanks for the tips! I've been thinking of student hosting so this was definitely helpful 👍

Hey guys, sorry I tried searching for it, but it still required too much digging to easily find. Do we have to put down our SAT scores? I don't remember the exact number and don't remember how to access them. They were also very bad. Help?

Just estimate your SAT scores.

Also, interview invite today! Earliest date available was October 29th, but I chose November 19th because it is during my Thanksgiving break and I can't take off more school!

CONGRATS! wow I didnt know VCU works on Labor Day weekend. What was your last status? and when did you get that status? Thanks!

Good luck! I will warn you, though, it may be difficult to get a host that weekend as we have exams the first half of that week and you can bet we'll be RUNNING out the door afterward for TG. No way we're sticking around any longer than we have to...

what's the turn around from being complete to getting your status? 1-2 weeks?

turned in my secondary last week...OOS. Rejected today. Crazy it was so fast 🙁

i was verified on 8/21 and have not received a secondary yet. is this bad? 3.7/35

Yes, it means you're so neurotic your classmates will hate you. Now take a chill pill. :scared:

For all of you that don't want to click on my MDApps, I will post my stats.

3.72 cGPA, 32R MCAT (11, 11, 10 VR), previous MCAT 28Q (10,10, 8 VR), OOS

CONGRATS! wow I didnt know VCU works on Labor Day weekend. What was your last status? and when did you get that status? Thanks!

I submitted primary on the first day, wasn't complete until they got my MCAT score on July 24th. I got the may status 8/28 and then an interview invite today.

I never had the further status like many of you guys had.

:lame:

I am not going to do the host program (unfortunately, I was hoping to talk to the students even more). My girlfriend has family in Virginia and she wants to come with me. I don't know if the hosts would be okay with two people staying so I will just get a hotel.

Unfortunately, you're right. It'd be harder to find someone with the space for two people. We, for one, have a couch and a small sleeping pad (like for a sleeping bag) so I suppose we could do two people but it's an apt so the space would be tight. And since MCV is in downtown Richmond, most people who live near the campus are in apts. Houses start a good 1.5-2 mi away from campus.

I've been complete since July 19th and my status hasn't changed at all since then. Should I be worried?

Submitted secondary on 7/17, secondary complete on 8/9, "further" status on 8/27, and just received the interview invite on 9/2.

Ok, this is a REALLY stupid question. But, it says applications are due Oct 15. Does that include the secondaries?? I'm guessing it does, but I'm kind of hoping it doesn't :/ I haven't even submitted my primary yet....is that bad???

Yes and YES. Even if you submit today you probably won't get verified till mid October. So unless you have a stellar application your putting yourself at a significant disadvantage.

And there is no way for me to get the secondaries now, right? I heard some schools can release the secondaries before receiving the primary.

Just got the "MAY" status.

OOS/~3.75/33

Submitted secondary on 8/6 and was also complete at that time.

If you submit the primary, and only if you submit the primary, may SOME schools give out a secondary. Most of the schools did not allow me to have access to the secondary until after my MCAT scores were released which was almost a month after my primary had been sent to them.
