This is how I read your post initially:

"I got a status change email when accepted a few moments ago." !!
You gave me a heart attack dude !

haha same here. Had to read it 3 times to make sure.

Sorry!

I even edited the message because I first said that I received a status change email when accepted. I didn't want to stress you guys out more than you should be so I added the "few months ago."

Best of luck to you all. I think I may matriculate here if UW doesn't accept me. I will hear back about that vote by the end of the month. I won't regret ending up here because it really does seem like an amazing medical school and the new building looks great from the outside. I can only image what the inside looks like!

I wonder why they fourth batch of acceptances is going out from the waitlist, and why only 50. In the previous years, it was 70 acceptances per batch and THEN the waitlist after the March acceptances. Do you think everyone held their seats when offered?

I really hope that's not the case!!!!!!

No, I'm pretty sure it was a computer mishap. This makes no sense for them to do it this way, but I think they are running with it since it happened.

I believe it's related to the new building and new curriculum. I believe both will be a strong recruiting tool for future classes, and therefore the ADCOM is most likely being more conservative in their offers.

Wishing the best to y'all tonight. I remember that night on the interstate Dec 17 quite well when I got the acceptance. BABSstudent, you won't regret going here even though it is 45k a yr for OOS? The thought. I would I go here much quicker if it wasn't so hefty. I'd have a better support group, etc. Let me know you how y"all rationalize this cost of attendance thing. lol.

my acceptance came out at 6:12pm so if it is the same...you guys should be hearing soon.. SO EXCITED

I think those accepted will hear before 6:30 EST, hopefully.

Woo! 116 people viewing the thread.

no email either...2 heartbreaks in 5 days by vcu...whyyy

Those who are on waitlist:
I greatly feel your concerns but I hope you will also hear some good news soon. Waitlist movement is rapid for VCU. Keep your hope up

Well, I am a little confused about how tuition will work for me because I am getting married at the end of the year (in December). Technically my spouse will be a Virginia taxpayer since she will be working. That should qualify me for instate tuition (I believe so from reading the instate paperwork stuff) for second year or halfway through first year if they do it like that.

No e-mail for me either. I interviewed back in Sept, so it has been A LONG wait for me. Anyone who is still waitlisted care to share stats? I'm an OOS 30R 3.7 GPA. I tried doing quite a bit of extra curricular, but I'm not sure if it was enough.

+1 No e-mail either.Interviewed in January. 36 3.8.OOS

Same. I've been waiting since September.

Back from walk to find an email waiting.... accepted!

Congrats to everyone with the update, and good luck to all the rest of you as well. If they are being conservative this year accepting batches of 50 instead of 70, it could be quite a few of you can join our class. They probably have even more guesswork to do (in terms of which students will actually attend) with so much changing at the school this year. To me the changes are a plus. Hopefully you will hear good news soon!

Is the waitlist ranked or tiered at all? Do we know what our rank is or where we stand? I can't remember. It seems like with the priority number system they have it would be, but every school always seems to use the phrase "were building a class" and therefore can't tell you.

Thanks!

i don't get it lol. i thought IS standards were lax. the average mcat for last year was 29.14.

Yea. I thought I had a good shot at VCU.

On another note, what do they do with students that end up with the same priority score in the waitlist? How do they determine which one to pull and accept?

They said its very hard to predict before May 15. but it didnt sound like they would tell us even after may 15 either. so hard to get anything out of them. Guess we just have to wait and see 🙁

congratz to those who were accepted today!!! i was wondering if any of you can confirm if VCU takes best of each section for the MCATs scores or best set of score? (if you have taken it twice)

Sadly, I too have been waiting for the past three acceptance dates. 31 3.5 OOS

I got accepted to UW today. I didn't know that would happen. I am bummed to turn this acceptance down, but excited at the same time. When I officially get the letter I will withdraw my application. For now I am keeping the acceptance in case it was a cruel, cruel prank. Tomorrow I will know for sure (according to the call). I know many of you will be excited by this post.

Best of luck and I hope you all enjoy the school. I know I was looking forward to starting here.

Waitlisted. Interviewed December 11th. OOS. 31R. 3.67

Any ideas if we can call VCU and find out what we can do to strengthen our application specifically? Im going to need to make a decision on what to pursue in the next couple weeks, including where to live/move.

Also do they accept additional letters of recommendation or interest for people on the waitlist?

I appreciate if someone can simply explain the whole fmStat thing !
Thanks

Did anyone email Dr. WHC to find out where they are on the waitlist?

I called the office and the said they dont disclose that Info..although I think they did last year. Might be worth emailing Dr. WHC though. Has anyone tried?

Congrats to those who made it! Hopefully I will be in the same boat soon! Anyone looking for a roommate for the upcoming semester? PM me and we can possibly work out details. I attend VCU, but work at MCV.

Hello all,

I'm trying to get some info on housing options and perhaps a roommate listing of some sort?

When I called today, they told me they don't accept any updates and that our position on the waitlist is final.

Can anyone help me with finding a place to live?
Is there any website or place that you guys find appropriate houses?
Also is there any website that I can see listings of houses for sale?
Thanks
