Hey ya'll! I'm accepted and most likely will be in one of these rooms with a friend of mine. If any females are looking for a place to live near campus, you should contact her 🙂 Here's her info!

Looking for 2 female roommates in a 3 bedroom condo in Bristol Southside (401 20th St South). The complex is walking distance from the UAB Campus and has a BlazerExpress bus-stop located across the street. There are two rooms available. One is the master bedroom, fully furnished, with its own bathroom and walk-in closet. The other has its own walk-in closet with a shared bathroom. The utilities, water, internet, and cable are included in the flat-rate price per month. The condo has its own kitchen, living room area ,dining area, and two balconies. Washer and dryer are also available in the condo. It's located on the 4th floor of the gated building with its own security. Amenities of the complex include pool, patio, trash, and gym. Please contact Esther Song [email protected] or 2564578820 if you're interested and we can figure out pricing. Thanks!

You wouldn't happen to know anybody trying to rent out a 1 BR at Bristol Southside would you? I would love to sign a lease there but am unable to get anybody in their office to respond to my inquiries.

OOS II yesterday.
Any other tips besides the ones already posted here? I need an acceptance ASAP or I will go crazy!

Do you mind sharing stats? 🙂
27 MCAT
3.5 GPA
No extraordinary numbers but I guess my personal story and diverse background makes up for it. Who knows? This process is so unpredictable

In-state, 29 MCAT and 3.5 GPA. Still waiting on that II. Good luck to you! I'm glad to see they're still sending out invites.

I can't seem to find the Facebook group. Does it really exist?!

I actually rented a 1 BR there a year or so ago and found it just by doing a google search. I also just rented from the owner, I didn't go through the leasing office. Hope that helps and good luck!

I found the Facebook page. Instead of naming it UASOM class of 2018 like the previous years, it's called UAB school of medicine class of 2018.

I agree. There seems to be no formula for this! Had a friend with a 39 MCAT rejected from here last week and some how with my 27 I haven't been.. ??

Anyone looking for a roommate. I'm in undergrad at UAB so I'm already here. Female. Let me know.

Does anybody know if UAB only sends out acceptance emails on Fridays?

I was told on a Monday. Someone who interviews on Feb. 20th told dm they weren't sending out any more acceptances until April. Idk how true that is tho.

Has anyone else been told that no more acceptances until April? It looks like in the previous years, there have been some given in Feb. and March too, before the waitlist came out.

The person said at the morning orientation, they were told that the board had gotten behind due to the weather and I guess the person over the board having health problems or something.

Nathan Smith was out due to family issues. They did say they were behind because of the snow days, but they said they only had to cancel two interview days. That being said, all of those interviewees were rescheduled....there was one applicant I talked to who had her interview canceled due to snow.

Now, I don't know how true that whole "not sending acceptances til April" is...I don't remember them saying anything like that. But who knows?

We were told this past Thursday 2/27 that final decisions and such were moved back to mid-April by Dr. Wait Shelton (spelling?) who was serving as our interview orientation speaker in place of Dr. Nathan Smith. Also we were told to contact the UAB med school admissions if we had any questions, not bother/contact Dr. Nathan Smith during this time out of consideration for him and his family.

Yes, but final decisions are different than occasional acceptances each week, which is what BlazingAm was referring to, I think

I was under the impression he said final decision wouldn't be made until April, but also said applicants could pretty much be accepted any time between now and then. I could have misheard, though.

I heard him Wait Shelton say that about applicants being accepted between now and mid-April too. I think my phrase "and such" threw people off, my fault for the bad explanation. So the final date for wait list, acceptances, and rejections will be some time in mid-April.

Ok so it seems like they aren't holding acceptances until April. My friend will be happy to hear that. I think she misunderstood what was said.

No I applied regular MD, I was asking for a friend who hadn't heard back yet. I was seeing if the MD/MPH interview process is any different than the MD process

It's not. If you are admitted to the MD program you apply to the graduate program and are automatically admitted. I was accepted to the MD program on 12/16 but didn't get the official acceptance letter to the grad program until a week or so ago.

Thanks! That's been my strategy thus far, but having little luck with BS 1BRs. Do you know anything about Cityville? The units look really nice but I've read some disturbing reviews about it online. I am beginning to lead towards Crowne on 10th; would like to be closer to campus but it seems to have the best reviews. Any insight from a current UAB student or Birmingham resident would be appreciated.

Congratulations and the best of luck to you!

As others have mentioned, I think they meant that only final decisions and the waitlist would not be released until April. I am sure sporadic acceptances will continue between now and then. I know that they are behind in the admissions process, as I was accepted via email on Jan 17 and was told recently that I would probably not recieve my campus assignment and official acceptance letter until early April.

Has anyone received an interview invite that has been put in the remain under consideration for interview status for a long period time?

Wait so you haven't had an interview? How long ago were you invited

Has anyone who interviewed on 2/20 or 2/27 received an acceptance yet?

Anyone know the average time between getting the remain under consideration for interview and either interview or rejected statuses?

I have also been "remain under consideration for interview" since November and have not heard anything.

I know admissions is a month behind, but does anyone know if they are done sending out II? I've been at "remain under consideration for interview since the beginning of Janurary.

My line of thinking is they'll be sending them out for at least 2 more weeks, since they had to reschedule 2 weeks worth of interviews due to the weather and had to delay sending out more. I've been 'Remain Under Consideration' since late November, and the wait has been agonizing

Thanks for the reply! Yeah the wait is always the worst, even though mine has only been for two months. I hope we both hear something soon! 🙂

I think "Secondary Complete & Under Review" is code for "silent rejection". Especially for the amount of time that I have had this status, lol.

I interviewed Feb 20th and still no news for me

Crowne on 10th is nice. I lived there for a year. The 1br apartments are really hard to get because they only have a few. I say call now and try to set that up asap if you want to live there.

I was in the same boat. Submitted late Oct and finally am under consideration for an interview as of yesterday I believe. I'm not very hopeful though as there seems to be a million people under consideration and people like you who are still under review. Anyone have positive things to say about this status change at this point? With the last acceptances in mid April, would that mean end of March for final interviews?

Glad to hear you've made some progress. I was complete in early October and am still waiting, lol.

I think you can definitely look at that as a positive sign. Even though it took them a long time to change your status, the fact that you're under consideration now means they were looking at your file recently and considered you competitive enough for a potential II.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually checked it out in person last weekend and was very impressed, thus why I am leaning towards sacrificing proximity (Cityville) for quality (Crowne). Always like to get an opinion from a resident before putting any money down. Yeah the girl who showed me around the property told me they always have a waitlist for 1BRs (think she said only 11 out of their 120+ units are 1BR), so I made sure to get my name on it earlier this week. Keeping my fingers crossed for an opening!

Can we expect any more Interview invite? Stutus “Remain Under Consideration for Interview” from Nov, no change

As an applicant that interviewed with UAB early fall, I have finished a semester of graduate school and have added a lot of clinical experience. Does anyone know if UAB is open to me sending in an update at this point or would it be useless? Thanks.
