2013-2014 University of Alabama Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do you get an email if your status changes (like from secondary under review to remain under consideration for interview)?

The only emails I received were one for my interview and one for my acceptance. None before those for status changes and none after for campus assignment etc.

"Remain Under Consideration for Interview" status. Not sure how long I've had that. At least its not a rejection! Even if it's a rejection later, it's good to know I've made it this far!

Accepted! Interviewed in mid October! No campus assignment yet. OOS 3.8+ 30

Congrats! When did you find out?

That's awesome...now you can enjoy the rest of your year at ease! Looks like they send the acceptance letters whenever they feel like it...I thought they only did it on Fridays but the past two rounds of acceptances has proved me wrong

When I interviewed, they told us that the committee meets every Thursday right after interviews are over and ranks the candidates. They accept or reject people at that meeting and then let them know of their status change ASAP after the meeting. This is why the notifications had come out on Fridays, but they must be busy, and thus sending them out the next business day (Mondays) as they have the past couple weeks.UAB was more "open" about their admissions process as compared to other schools I have interviewed with.

Accepted! Interviewed 11/14, just got the email a few hours ago.
Congrats! I wonder how much longer it will be before more acceptances come out. Is it about a month between?

There's no telling. At orientation on interview day, we were told "You will be notified sometime between tomorrow and March."..... which is reassuring. There were 2 or 3 on this thread that interviewed the same day as me, and they got their acceptances within 1-2 weeks, I got mine after a month. I'm not sure what the process is exactly, but they do not all go out at once.

Hi everyone! Accepted on 12/16! Currently an undergrad at UAB, in-state. For those of you who have campus assignments-how long did it take for those to be updated?

Just in case this helps anyone: I'm an MD/PhD applicant, completed a while back, put on waitlist for January interview.

Has anyone sent a letter of interest/update? If so, did you just email it to the admissions committee?

interview coming up on the 16th...any tips from those who have already interviewed? it says there are 3 25min interviews, how was that? thanks!!

Just be honest and friendly. I really enjoyed my interviews here, all 3 of my interviewers were very nice and conversational. Everyone there goes out of their way to make you feel at home, and I remember getting done and thinking, " That was much more enjoyable than I anticipated."

I haven't heard anything either, but I did send in my new transcript yesterday. Somewhere in the application manual, it asks for re-applicants to send in an updated transcript showing your grades from the fall semester. Most of y'all have already done this; but if you're a re-applicant, don't forget to send in a new transcript.

For those of us accepted, how do we submit our final transcript? Do we do it through our school directly or do we get our school to send it to amcas who will then send it to them.

Most schools require a copy directly sent to them straight from your college. You could call to confirm, but this seems like the most logical choice to me.

Interviewed yesterday and I just received the acceptance email about an hour ago! Absolutely out-of-my-mind excited!!! Good luck to the rest of the 1/16 interviewees and to everyone else as well!

just got accepted 🙂 out of state, interviewed yesterday on 1/16, 28 mcat, 4.0 gpa..so excited! and congrats to everyone else 🙂

does anyone know where theres a link to the class of 2018 facebook page?

I've been "under review" since September. I was under the impression that we were only supposed to be under review for a few weeks so I emailed them.

Still want to interview here so badly!

I was thinking the same thing.

So have I. Let me know if they respond to your email!

I was moved to the status "Remain under consideration for interview". Any other reapplicants have the same thing?

I do. Seems I've been on that status for a while. Not sure when it actually changed though

Wow I almost forgot that I applied here. Keyword: ALMOST. 😛

Ugh. Emailed a long update/LOI as a last ditch effort. Praying for some type of news soon. I know they're done sending out interviews in late feb.

Are you me?! I just did the same thing (and I run too!). Best of luck, really hope it works out for you!
