Anybody has suggestions on where to live? safe & affordable place?

Also, not sure if this has been asked before but can first years survive without a car?

Birmingham is not a car-free friendly city. I would check Highlands, Southside, or 5 points if you want to be close and have decent rent. Also, they are close to bars and decent restaurants.

I believe today is the day. But i also believed friday was the day. Does anybody know whether it matters when you interviewed at UAB. Like is it better to interview earlier rather than later or does it not matter at all.?

Today is absolutely the day. I've heard it from a number of people. Apparently, the website is updated and it says that today is the day. Good luck to everybody!!!

Where does the website say that?

Just looked around and I couldn't find anything, either. I hadn't actually checked when I posted that - that was just what I had heard from friends.

Even if there is no official update, ALL schools are required to report their acceptances to the AAMC today. We are supposed to have one month before we have to make our final decision (May 15th). With that being said, I don't see why today shouldn't be the big day. However, we all know how ...unreliable, to say the least... UAB's admissions process has been this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if they waited a couple more days.

My thought all along has been if they put the effort into putting the statement about the admissions delay on the website, then they would have also edited/deleted the April 15 date they mentioned under final decisions too, but maybe I'm just overthinking this.

Has anyone tried calling admissions office today to see if the April 15th deadline listed on the website is still true?

It's usually on a Friday. I assume because the committee meets to finalize everything on Thursday

I must admit. This website can make you go crazy... but at the same time.. its good to know your not the only one going thru this... kudos to you student doctor forum

Financial aid office just told me that the med school class is full. Wonder what is holding up UAB from releasing the wait list?

Does that mean they've already notified all accepted students? Or could they have filled the class but not yet notified some. I feel like there haven't been enough acceptances to fill the class...

That is interesting. If that is the case, I guess there will be no more acceptances when the "final decisions" are made this year. I did notice that there were over 130 on the Facebook page already.

There are apparently 130 ppl in the FB group. Who knows whats going on

I tried calling admissions office but could not reach anyone so i called financial aid office to see if April 16 scholarship deadline was going to be moved back as well. Thats when she said that there was no need to move deadline back bc the class was full. Wish i had more answers. Guess we will just have to wait and see whenever they decide to send out final decisions.

A good portion of the 130 people on the Facebook page are upperclassmen or people who aren't committed to UAB.

idk....the whole "class if full" thing seems a bit sketchy...maybe the financial aid office was told to say that?

conspiracy theory on the rise?!?

Have any re-applicants been accepted this year yet??

There have to be a few more acceptances.... it only makes sense

Just spoke with someone in admissions office. Here is what i found out.

The class has not been filled yet and they are still working on final decisions, wait list etc...

Unfortunately, they do not have a set date when they plan to release final decisions. Hope this helps.

Well I was hoping for tomorrow, but that leaves the impression that it is not going to be soon.

Thank you for calling and letting us know. No, it dosnt sound like it will happen any time soon.

Im just happy to hear that the class has not been filled yet. I'll take whatever good news i can get at this point.

Ok, so it's more than likely not going to happen today. Why am I still obsessively checking the computer?
