2013-2014 University of California - Davis Application Thread

Interview waitlist. 3.83 GPA, 35 MCAT. Applying to Rural-PRIME. Anyone know what your chances look like for the interview waitlist (interview? acceptance?)?

Does anyone know when the tours of the student clinics take place? I know they're supposed to notify us 1 week in advance but I'd like to make my travel arrangements earlier.

No one can tell you what you are looking for. Mostly because 95%+ of us would have bet that you would have gotten an interview immediately with those stats and applying for PRIME. UCD just has their own methods which are quite enigmatic.

Holy mother of...Davis! Interview invite at 10 pm on a Sunday!!! Super excited for this one : )

IS Complete 8/8

Congrats! Was it an email invite? Mind providing stats? Good luck.

Anyone know if there is an expiration to UCD's interview invite? I was thinking of an October interview but September is the only one open.

Don't think so. Call to be sure!

PS: congrats Hart024!

Congrats to all new interview recipients 😀!

I've recently learned that green is a color that suits me well 😉

I was complete 7/16 and haven't heard anything... Anyone else?

So for the meaningful experiences section, did folks write it as "this is why I want to go into medicine"? Or "how this enhanced my potential as a physician"? I wrote mostly for the latter, and am wondering if that will hurt me now 🙁. POO! Davis just tell me whats up!!

Viewing previous years threads, it seems like Davis decides pretty quickly whether they want to interview you and sends you an invite. Holds have a long shot later on in Jan/Feb. Those who don't hear anything are rejections. Anyone interpreting trends from previous years differently than this? In general I've been thinking no news is good news, but not so much at Davis

Unfortunately that's kind of what I've gathered as well. I've been complete since the first week of July and have heard nada. Pretty much given up hope here.

Has anyone who applied for the ACE-PC track (3 year primary care MD program) received an interview invitation?

As we all discuss "silent rejections," my only hope is that my application is in a separate pile because I applied to that program.

In-state / MCAT 37+ / GPA 3.8+ / Complete since 7/15 and no word from Davis since then.

Complete since 7/5

No news... 34 MCAT/ 3.76 GPA and a California resident.

Odd, it sucks that they do silent rejections....

I don't think its technically silent. They eventually send rejections in like January

i said technically, 😉. but no kidding, its gross

Yeah, I'll admit I was pretty shocked. Also I'm Med-MAR. Do you think they skim off people that might not accept admission? Sucks because I live near Davis and I want to stay in the area, even if I might be able to get into a better school elsewhere.

I'm replying to a super old post, but I take issue with this. If they really looked at our primary applications, why would they bother asking us to enter our pre-req classes, which is 100% redundant with the primary app? My guess is that they just can't be bothered to look at the primary so they make you type everything again.

I took it as they did not want to sift through all classes on the primary. It seems they ask on the secondary to provide a snapshot of just the pre-reqs.

verified 8/30, got the "primary received" emails from UCSF, UCLA and UCSD. no word from davis yet. i feel like i got silently rejected already T_T

Calm down, this weekend was labor day and it's only been 2 business days xD

I got my email + secondary together a few days after I was verified

SDN makes me feel like 2 days is too long haha 😛

I dunno about folks now since I was verified the end of July but Davis' initial "primary received" email and "secondary awarded" were sent together for me. There could be a slightly longer delay now that it's Sept.

But yes, SDN makes us neurotic

"Omg I haven't been awarded an II in a day, I only have 20 now, looks bad for me"

i know, right?

seriously davis get it together! 😛 still waiting on some love from davis and irvine... haven't even gotten "primary received!" email from them yet. ucsf and ucla on the other hand got back to me within 2 days.

sighhhh.

if ucd does a silent rejection, does that mean they don't even acknowledge receipt of your primary? or are they like "bahaha, got your primary" and then radio silence?

with how much money im spending on secondaries and (hopefully) interview travel expenses, impromptu trips to vegas to defuse my neuroticism seem really cheap haha

Anyone with MSAR know the acceptance rate of Davis??

the MSAR only shows matriculant numbers, not acceptances. but heres some info you might be interested in

This is super helpful! I saw you posted the numbers for Drexel too. Thank you!!

Hey All,

I have an interview on Sept. 13th. Just estimated cab fare costs. Wow! Forget that. Decided to rent a car instead. I fly in late morning the day before: willing to wait around a couple of hours. I'm also heading back to the airport fairly soon after the interview on Friday. If interested PM me.

Teehee, I live pretty close to the Davis SoM so maybe I'll go hide in a bush and admire all of you from afar 😀 :naughty:
