Could anyone chime in about whether it's worth applying here OOS? I don't really have any ties to this area unfortunately (though my mom grew up in detroit) 32 MCAT and 3.75 GPA.

I am applying here out of state! 31 MCAT and 3.65 cGPA so your stats are a little better than mine!

We have very similar stats and I'm applying here as well oos. According to MSAR, cincinnati gives out ~300 interviews out of 3700 oos applicants and matriculates 50.

This is the first time I've seen someone want info about non-misdemeanor traffic tickets. I've had a few more than I probably should (4, 2 not expunged) so hopefully it's not an app killer.

I was about to apply to UCincy, but after reading this - not anymore. Unless one has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, this should not matter and should not be a point to question on the application. SMDH.

They have a lot to offer so I wouldn't discount them because of this. Thats just me though. They say they are screening for risk taking behavior. I have 3 tickets, but they all occurred before my frontal lobe had fully developed : ) I'm sure they take that stuff into account lol

Woah only 50? Help.

Their admissions office is super friendly! I really hope to hear some good news!!

I'm not verified yet but really want to add this school now. Has anyone added schools before being verified? I know it says we won't get pushed back in line but it still makes me nervous hah

I added Cinci a few days after I submitted my AMCAS, and yeah, of course my place in line was not compromised.

Don't worry about it 😉

Thanks for the encouragement, I think I'll go ahead and do that now! So you were still verified with the 6/12 people? (sorry for creeping on your MDApps hah)

I actually called amcas a while back and they told me that you won't get pushed back if you add schools

Yep! You cant trust me 🙂

Yay, just added! 🙂 People got secondaries pre-verification, right?

Is anyone having trouble with the secondary still? I read through the instructions page and then when I hit continue, nothing happens 🙁

I called and they said they're having technical difficulties right now. She just told me to sit tight while IT works on it.

16 of those OOS matriculants for the current school year came from UC's SMP.

The application wouldn't work for me on Safari or Firefox, but it worked just fine on Chrome.

So for those of us who have submitted our secondaries.... How do we know if/when our files are complete?

Does anyone know if they've downloaded our LORs? Any emails?

The only email I received was the initial "thank you for submitting" email. But if you log onto MedOneStop you can click on "online application manager" and then "current status" to check. It will tell you if your app is complete and which letters are marked as received

So a weird thing just happened. When I was filling out the secondary the website crashed and when my browser automatically reloaded it, I was looking at someone else's secondary instead of mine! That's a sketchy glitch... kind of freaks me out actually :scared:

I see the "online application manager" but I don't see a "current status" button. All I see is "Submitted Online Applications", under which is a hyperlinked blue MD Program. If I click on it, I see my submitted secondary. Where are you seeing your LORs??

EDIT: Neverrrrmind I found it 🙂 You have to click the blue MD Program button on the right.

Hello fellow applicants!

So I have no trouble filling out this application, but then when I get to the fee payment page, it keeps telling me my "cardholder phone is invalid" and I have tried every possible combination of my cards and phone number, moms cards and phone numbers, dads cards and phone numbers, and all of this on multiple diff. days throughout the past week.

Has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to get around it?

Thanks for your time guys! good luck with all your apps 🙂

Anyone have any ideas about this? If not I guess I'll call them tomorrow

Right...because the midwest is all the same and we don't have state lines or differences at all. Detroit...Cincy...pretty much the same I guess.

 I'm from Detroit and interviewed at Cincinnati last year. The two cities very different because Cincinnati is nothing like a stereotypical Midwestern city. It's no Cleveland or St. Louis.

Just curious, what major differences did you notice?

Secondary is in. Good luck to all who apply! Still waiting on a letter packet to arrive though, I'm assuming they won't review until then?

In Cincinnati the police don't take an average of 58 minutes to respond to a 9-1-1 call.

Also, the city ain't broke.

What's the secondary prompt for this school? Want to see the prompt before deciding if I should add this school

What is the reasoning behind this? I don't understand. If your sole reason of determination on whether to apply to a school or not is the secondary essay(s), then you probably have no real desire to attend that school anyway, and should just save your money.

You are completely right. But my ultimate goal and passion in life is to become a physician. Not where I go for medical school. I have already completed/submitted over 30 secondaries, and to be honest, I am feeling a little burned out. But as a re-applicant, I would do anything to maximize my chances of getting into a med school this year. So, the easier the secondary, the easier it is for me to finish on a timely manner, which will translate to a higher chance to get an interview. Rather than working on a hard secondary that'll take me weeks to finish.

I see your point, and good luck.

This secondary was one of the easiest I have had. No essays, just biographical information questions as well as conduct questions (do not skip over them, one asks if you have ever been cited for a traffic violation).

Complete!! (via status check - no email)

Good luck everyone!!

Just tried to pay/submit, but got an error message....how did you guys resolve this problem? wait and try again later? or did you have to call the admissions office?

You do realize that 95% of people don't really care about the 'unique' aspects of each medical school, right? Most people apply to a bunch of schools in their stat range... if they get multiple acceptances, it usually boils down to some grey area in the middle of cost, prestige, and location. Easy secondaries make it easier to apply to multiple schools, which increases the shot of an acceptance.

I also chose Cincinnati for this reason. I had 4-5 fantastic schools on my list to round out the last couple schools I would apply to and I went with the 2 that had easy secondaries. It's all about increasing the odds of an acceptance at a handful of schools you could see yourself attending. There are 120 some to choose from. As a re applicant, all I care about is getting into a decent school, in a decent location, with strong research. I also respect the low fee Cincinnati has. They don't gouge us like some schools *cough* Georgetown. $130 is comical.

Still getting the error msg when try to pay and submit....arghhhhhh....i guess i should call the admissions office tomorrow?

Hey everyone! Just some info...I just started here at UCCOM! Our first day of orientation was today! SDN was great when I was applying, so here are the stats for my class that they told us today: 173 students, 40% OOS, 52% male, 32.5 average MCAT, 3.65 average GPA. Hope this information is useful, and good luck to everyone!

I am an Ohio resident and I love Cincinnati but I definitely applied to some schools because of easy secondaries. I couldn't agree more with what you said.

I'm guessing/hoping you've probably already fixed it, but were you entering it in the format XXX-XXX-XXXX? I initially left out the dashes and the system yelled at me.

Would they review my application even if all my letters aren't in? I have 2 already received, but the letter packet from my school will be another two weeks, sadly.
