In response to my update letter, I was told that they cannot add changes via email and.... "if you would like this added to your experience, all updates must be process through AMCAS if applicable." << what exactly does that mean? I was not aware I could add 'experiences'.. have any of you done this?

I got the same one. I think it just means they only consider activities in your amcas. poor phrasing
 
Have you interviewed? If you haven't, I'm pretty sure that Colorado is not very receptive to updates.

There is no way to add an experience to amcas after being verified.

You can bring it up during your interview. I brought my amcas application to explain my GPA and a copy of a published paper. Bring 3 copies just in case.
 
For those recently accepted, did you submit your fafsa yet?

From what I understand, UCSOM only gives out need based grants right? Do they ever give out scholarships to students?
 
They said no during the interview day. You have to be extreme need too

Do you know what extreme needs imply? What categorizes you as extreme need?

No clue. Sorry I can't help. I'll try calling financial aid after I submit my fafsa.

I emailed them. Here is their reply so hopefully they don't receive so many of the same type.

"The 004508 UCD code is correct. Your award will be fully covered by federal loans, and any other grant or scholarship you may be qualified for. You will always indicate the amount of each type of loan offer you wish to borrow, so you are in control of what you owe. You will be disbursed financial aid each semester, the bill will be deducted and you will be issued a refund for the overage. We encourage students to sign up for Direct Deposit, and have the funds go into your savings account. You will be responsible to manage the funds and make them last until you next disbursement.
We will have additional financial aid presentations at both the 2nd Look day in April, and at Orientation. If you have additional questions, please feel free to email us again or visit us during our walk-in advising hours."

Tour isn't very long, maybe 30 minutes. It will be outside for a bit because they will take you to various buildings. The Anschutz Campus is amazin! The interview day is very structured! Try attending the social! It helped me understand Colorado track programs and why students decided to attend the school. Best of luck!

Honestly, you never know with Colorado. I'm IS and it snowed two days ago (several inches, about 5 deg low). When I interviewed about 2 weeks ago it was sunny and about 65 degrees F. Colorado, man...
 
A little off topic, but does anyone know how many spots (in terms of this year's class) are left?

Based on the fb group, yes (sorry for being vague). However, I do not know if maybe people just didn't know about the group. My n=1 reference is that the other fb group I'm in (for a different school) is over half full.
 
Not sure if any of you are watching the Super Bowl but this is pretty brutal 🙁

I think so. Their last interview is 21st of feb. they called me for II 3 days in advance.
 
So, is it safe to assume that if you applied early september that you are silently rejected? Just wondering since no one is rejected, yet?

I'm guessing so, but you never know with Colorado. They are one of the least transparent schools IMO. No in state love is a bummer.
 
any insight from recent interviewees as to when the big decision release(s) will be this year? looking on last year's thread it looks like it might start in february? this wait is killing me slowly.

For those who don't want to wade through last year's thread:

It looked like (similar to this year's progress), that if you didn't get a call fairly soon after your interview, you're waiting to springtime to hear anything (good or bad). The exceptions were around 2/6 (yikes, that's tomorrow!) where a few people who interviewed in the Fall were notified, 2/26 where a larger group were accepted, and then through March.

But who knows. We know that the admissions process is different this year with Dr. Grenardo - I'm hoping (praying, begging to the pagan gods, etc.) that it means more acceptances earlier!

(Interviewed the 2nd interview day way back in early October. IS.)
 
Hahah, when I read about their interview process, then actually interviewed in October, I had a very positive impression in regards to their admissions process. I felt that it was one of the more transparent ones since they went into so much detail about how they were scoring us, etc. But the lack of reporting acceptances and fact that most of us seem to be waiting until March does seem a bit conflicting.

Oh well. Here's to hoping for good news in March then 🙂

I have a few things to note. Didn't Colorado send out its secondaries relatively late because they decided to change the writing prompt? That might push things back a little bit. On my interview day I was under the impression that they weren't making any more decisions (beyond the crazy phone calls) until after the remainder of the interview days were complete (two more days in February). Does that mean that CU doesn't use a traditional rolling application/acceptance cycle. The phone call tradition still has me slightly baffled. Don't forget, they are also increasing their class size by about 20 students which may make all the difference for one of you lucky people!

Other than this I'm going to try not to worry, it only makes my nails shorter. I was a very late applicant, complete 11/05 and interviewed 1/17.

Unless you designated that you were interested in the Colorado Springs campus, the 20 extra seats may not apply to some folks, right? Yeah, none of us will really know until come March when they have to release final decisions. 😛

Yes, they were pushed back significantly! Last year the first interview invitations went out 8/26 (or around that date), and that was when we were barely even getting the secondaries! So I do figure they got pushed back at least a little bit, but hopefully not too much.. I think it's ironic that CO says they're still on the rolling application; yes, technically they are as they accept one, maybe two, from each interview session (that's what they said at my interview day), but for the overwhelming majority it's definitely not rolling when we wait until march regardless of if we interview in late September or in the last session in February!

Based on the previous years it looks like a mix of rejections/acceptances start to roll out on either the last or second to last interview day. Like I said earlier though, overanalyzing their process will turn me into an individual not mentally fit for any graduate school program!
 
Does anyone know if they interviewed today? Does that mean that next Friday is the last interview day? That would be the most likely time we'd start hearing about acceptances/rejections.

Didn't someone say they were going to start with the acceptances two weeks after the last interview?
 
Hey guys, just a little info as I interviewed today (extremely impressed).

They added an additional interview day this month, so whenever the last one was, there is one more... Sorry, I didn't catch if they mentioned the dates. I *believe* there are two more interview days. Because they added another date, they anticipate the initial roll-out of acceptances/alternates/rejections to be pushed back a week to mid March-ish. Regardless, everyone will know *something* by March, 31st at the latest.
