Sounds good! I'm going to TRY to make it to G-ville on Thursday for dinner, but I am actually defending my master's thesis THAT day, so timing is going to be tough, lol.

Good luck on Friday!
Thanks, good luck on your thesis. I will not be able to make it to Thursday dinner🙁 I work that day, so probably will arrive to Gainesville after 9-10 pm. It's 6-7 hour drive for me.

Got an interview invite woohoooo! I get to eat Gumby's again 😀

I hear back on Tuesday! I'm dying with anticipation. Not expecting an acceptance but still. Ahhhhh!

I just wanted to pop my head in and wish you all good luck! I'm a second year here, and I've really enjoyed getting to meet some of you during your interview days. I did want to chime in and say that UF can be a little slow at times in terms of offering interviews- I remember waiting several months before I heard anything, and while I thought it was because they'd passed me by, it was really just a slow time for them. So, try not to look too hard into it if it's taking a little longer than with other schools. Let me know if you have any questions about the school!

I was just about to PM you bout that. My heart rate had to be 200 hahaha. Ugh.

They met yesterday according to my notes.

Any news people? Does UF only call if they are offering an acceptance? Does no call=rejection/wait list? (Obviously no call here lol)
I remember her saying they email regardless cuz they don't wanna play phone tag. I've got no news either

Thanks all I got an official email from the school 30 mins later! hoping you all get news soon!

Hey all. I actually called admissions and was informed that they are running a few hours behind. So if you haven't heard anything, it's not NECESSARILY bad news. I was waitlisted, however :-( Best of luck to those waiting, and congrats again McRunner!

Hey I just got waitlisted myself . Leila sent me the email, very warm woman! I was extremely impressed with the school and while I'm certainly not happy about getting waitlisted, I understand completely. I am curious what my prospects are at this point. Maybe you can provide some insight? Do you know many students in your class who were wait-listed? Or if there's a timeline of "acceptance-periods"?

Accepted earlier as well! Except I only got the official one and not by the interviewers...

Accepted here as well - third and final program for me here at UF. Sorry about the waitlist results. Unfortunately, no waitlist movement occurs until May 15, but with that, at last you know in the meantime that other "waitlisters" aren't getting ahead of you. Be sure to send updates on your secondary application portal, and best of luck!

See my post in this forum from Nov 25. It appears that you have about a 40% chance of being accepted from the wait list. I have also heard that about half of the class comes from the wait list, but this is an anecdote; however, this would be possible numerically (from my calculations in my previous post) if a good few folks who are accepted from the waitlist decline the offer. Good luck! I know the feeling - I have been on waitlists before.

Anyone know if there is an accepted students Facebook group or something as such?

Hello all. I applied late in the cycle. My application was verified December 6th. I received my secondary on December 12th and then received an email from Leila Amiri out of no where letting me know that secondary's are due January 15th. She went on to say if I was interested in UFCOM, please apply by the deadline and they looked forward to receiving my application. Best wishes and Happy Holidays. At first I thought it was a mass generated email, but she greeted my with my middle name (which is what I go by) and there were simple typos in the email as if no one proof read it. Did anyone else receive anything like this? Any thoughts?

Also I submitted my secondary yesterday and received the email that my file is complete and ready for review.

*hug* I know being in that position really sucks, and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I'll tell you my impressions and what I know about waitlisting, but just as a disclaimer, I definitely don't have any *official* knowledge, so please do not take what I say as gospel 🙂

For my perspective, there are A LOT of people in my class who were originally waitlisted. I believe I remember Dr. Lynch saying they expected to take about 1/4-1/3 of the class from the waitlist at my interview day, and that seems to be accurate. Unfortunately, it doesn't really seem to start moving until May (I apologize; I can't remember the specific day that people must give up their other acceptances, but it should start moving around that time.) Then, it'll move until class starts (literally- I know at least 3 people that were accepted less than 2 weeks before!)

One side note about being waitlisted- at the beginning of school, many of my classmates who had been waitlisted seemed to be nervous about being "second class citizens," in a way. I think they worried that, since being waitlisted, they weren't as wanted, and perhaps it was a marker of their future success in med school. From my perspective sitting near the end of second year, and seeing how my classmates have done both academically and personally, this is 100% NOT THE CASE. Many of the most intelligent, socially active, compassionate members of our class were accepted from the waitlist. Med school admissions has an element of randomness to it, and awesome people like Dr. Lynch and Leila know that, too. If you interviewed, they think you have what it takes, and they see something special in you. I understand that it's a very disappointing situation to be in, but I hope that this might lift your spirits a little 🙂

Hey everyone!

I'm pretty new to the forums but I had a question about UF's curriculum/daily schedule. I know they have made changes to it but do students still attend traditional lecture classes for 8 hours a day?

Thanks!

Hello! So, it really varies from day to day and week to week. We almost always have lectures in the morning until noon. Afternoons are usually either more lectures, off, practicing physical exams, small group, or something random. The lectures are all recorded and non mandatory, with the exception of lectures where patients come and talk to us.
