It's been a week...any more IIs? I'm in state and getting antsy. =(
 
only email I got was
"Dear Applicant,

Thank you for submitting your payment for the secondary application.

Committee on Admissions

Is this the complete email? I submitted the secondary on the 27th...

Did you apply early decision?

I completed my secondary on 7/22 and got a "Secondary Received" email on 08/01 but I haven't heard from UMD since... I'm getting a little worried since on the website, they state that early decision interviews are mid-September..

Advice Advice I need your advice:

I applied to the University of Maryland as an OOS, but because my wife got her Masters Degree from UMD. There wasn't anywhere to put this information on the secondary- should I send an email as an update or ask them to add it to my file? Are they receptive to that?

I am OOS and I sent an email update because I now live in Maryland and I also updated some things I have been doing since I got here. They responded saying that the email had been added to my file. Hope that helps.
 
Anybody else interviewing on Monday?

so jealous, UMD is probably my top choice. Keep up the good work you are killing it on the IIs!
 
does it matter in terms of acceptance, when you interview? like sooner vs later?

For rolling schools, I tend to think of it in terms of before first round acceptances and after, which for most schools is around October 15th. I feel like it's better to interview before then, because afterwards you don't know how much schools have already filled out their class.
 
do you guys thing oct 9th vs. oct 30th will be a huge difference in terms of chances? I haven't started prepping yet so im kind of worried i will need a little bit more time.

I don't think it will make a difference at all. According to their website, they interview Oct 1 through March 31st, so either way you're interviewing super early.

On the other hand, interview prep really doesn't take that much time once you actually get down to it--maybe a solid weekend at the most--unless you're planning on reading books on healthcare policy or medical ethics or something.

Just had my interview here and thought it went really well. I can't even believe how beautiful this campus/ hospital is. If I get an acceptance on October 15th that would be so amazing because I would be DONE. UMD is where its at!

I have an interview early next month but sorta nervous since I do not know what to expect. Can anyone pls share their interview experience. Were they ethically related questions or the interview was more centered about you as the applicant. Thank you.
 
Anyone know how many interviewees there are for a given interview day?
 
So I just submitted my secondary on 9/18... what is everyones opinion on this date? I got their secondary 9/26 I believe so it's a bit over 3 weeks (I know... life has been crazy with school though). My boyfriend (OOS) just got an interview here today after he sent them a letter saying we're dating. I have also done research at UMD and am IS.

I've just got a terrible feeling in my stomach for not submitting this earlier and I'm really kicking myself! Somewhere on SDN it says that submitting a secondary late september is very late. Do you agree? What are my chances!

It depends on the school. Some schools will only interview until December and stop sending invites in October, but UMD was a good bit later in the season with releasing secondaries at the end of July so only two rounds of interviews have come out. Being in state like me, I don't feel like you need to worry at all.

Thanks for the input! I'm hoping that my boyfriend's II will reflect well on me. UMD is definitely my top choice school!

got an interview invite a day after the complete email. And got a complete email a week or less after I submitted the secondary. submitted secondary sometime in the early september tho so was kinda late as well.

I applied early decision but just got notice that my application got put into the regular pool. I'm not feeling too optimistic... Has anyone been in the same situation and still get an interview invite?

You received an actual complete email? I've only received a "you payment was successful email"

I only received a "your secondary application has been received email", nothing else
 
that is the complete email i received. "your secondary application...."
 
The question asks for "independent research" but I don't know if my experiences fall under this category. I worked in research labs outside the classroom, and I ran experiments and analyses and presented my findings...definitely more than just a lab rat but also by no means fully independent in terms of making my own hypotheses/experiments/etc. But the way the question is asked, the prompt follows the question with "(We are looking for research that you did outside of the course/classroom requirement)." Does this mean that they are defining "independent research" as any research done outside of regular coursework?

Ive been complete since the beginning of August and still havn't heard back :/ Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I have a feeling this is an indication of a hold/rejection. Also instate here.

It's normal. Most school tend to interview the best applicants first and this process takes about 6-7 months. It doesn't mean you won't get in, just that you might not be a first round draft pick.

Awesome! That happened to me at another school that I applied to. Maybe, applying at an odd time helps. 🙂

Does Maryland send out complete emails or just the "secondary received" email and it shows complete online?
