Only 20?! Those... are not good chances........

edit:
So USNWR numbers for 2013:
Interviewed: 741
Accepted: 450
Enrolled: 186

So if only ~20 from the waitlist, then...
Your numbers assume there are no post-interview rejections. I haven't been able to get a straight answer about this. Does anybody know if there are any post-interview rejections?

I don't think they reject people after accepting them.

? I said post-interview rejections.

putting it in bold doesn't make it make anymore sense!

So if only ~20 from the waitlist, then USC overaccepts their class by more than double: (430-186=) 244?? just straight after the interview.

I, for one, am hoping that there is more waitlist movement........

Don't forget there are people who decline offers of admission early enough for the seat to be offered to an interviewee later in the season without him/her sitting on the waitlist first. Given the quality of CA public med schools & number of IS applicants to Keck, I'd imagine this happens not uncommonly.

I think lots of people begin to decline their acceptances after they receive their (lack of) financial aid awards. At least that's what happened last year and what seems to be happening at other schools. I bet wait list movement will begin around the late April (when the awards are sent) through mid May.

Oops! I misread your numbers. I thought you were calculating the total number of people on the waitlist. I simply meant that post-interview rejections would reduce the total # of people on the waitlist and better our chances. Sorry for the confusion!

Dean Arias told us not to send thank you letters, but are we allowed to contact our interviewers if we are on the waitlist? I would much rather go here than the other school I have been accepted to!

It's worst if you're an accepted student and can't find it 🙁
this was me haha. I emailed medadmit and they responded in a few days with an email invitation to the group, so you might try that

Haha I have the link and invitation. The group just doesn't show up when I click it T.T

"The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page."

It's NBD. I'll just meet everyone on the 19th 🙂

I just withdrew my acceptance from here (goodluck to those on waitlist!!), but, this same thing happened to me when I clicked on the link and if you contact the admissions office they will send you an email with a direct invitation to join the group. It's different than the initial link we received.

When sending the waitlist update May 15th, is it acceptable/customary/beneficial to include any Letters of Recommendation from physician experiences this past year?

I e-mailed admissions recently and asked about additional letters of rec, to which they responded that they "discourage letters of update and additional letters of recs"

Can anyone verify this, do they really just want a 1-2 line letter come May 15th that those on the wait list simply still want to be considered? I recall Dr. Arias saying updates can be sent May 15th, but according to the e-mail I received that seems to not be the case.

So we're supposed to send an email saying we're still interested May 15th but looking at last years thread it looks like most people came off the wait list before that...

Dr. Arias said send an update/LOI on May 15th if you're still interested/USC is your number one. The waitlist email says something to the same effect.

Anyone know which address to send the final transcripts? I only have a few days left before I have to pay for my school to send them. Thanks!

I just activated my USC net ID today...and is anyone else concerned with their assigned username? I dont know if i'm just picky, but my last name is just randomly cut halfway through. anyone know if we can change it?

Has anybody received their financial aid packages yet? Or does anybody know when we should expect our financial aid results?

I called last week, and they told me we should get them in about two weeks.

I like mine. It's the same as the one I got from undergrad (not USC)

Mine is just my last name. I think it's nifty...I mean, people will eventually be calling me Dr. <last name> anyway. Might as well get use to it.

All of the usernames are 8 characters. Lots and lots of people's are cut off. :/

So for those of us on the wait list are we only allowed to send a 2-3 sentence email or are we allowed to send a full length LOI? I don't recall her saying anything about a full length LOI but yeah my mind can be playing tricks on me at this point.

Well, I have a massive update/interest/love letter/plea of desperation to send to USC on May 15th. I only hope that it isn't just supposed to be a 2-3 sentence email that expresses our continued interest in the school.

From what the admissions office told me through e-mail they are not receptive to additional letters of recommendation

Does anyone know when keck begins sending out financial aid information?

I was wondering this as well. Seems like last year most people had heard by May... Has anyone gotten financial aid stuff yet? Decision day is coming up quick!

Financial aid packages are slowly being posted. I think it's going in alphabetical order though - at least that's what it seems like.

Steel yourselves. Or should I say, gird your loins.

Only received Stafford Loan in the max amount lol. Will be withdrawing -- good luck to those of you on the WL.

Anyone know if Keck is receptive to requests for more funding (like matching another school's scholarship offer)?

Edit: Also if they only gave you a certain amount in Stafford Loans, where does one come up with the rest of the monies?
Answer: GraduatePlus Loans

You could give it a shot, and shoot them a letter saying that although USC is your #1, school x is offering a $xxk scholarship and would compel you to withdraw from USC given the comparatively prohibitive CoA. Of course, you would say this more tactfully and nicely. And, of course, you should think carefully about whether or not you'd be willing to attend Keck given the CoA sans grants/scholarships, because sending the letter might expose you to USC basically saying "Well, bye."

Did you get this info in the mail, or did it show up online in the financial aid portal?

Holy ****, that's a lot of money. Wouldn't that come out to almost 400k over 4 years when interest is included?
I used the AAMC loan calculator to figure out that if one were to max out the Stafford loan and then make up the difference in GradPlus loan, the total repayment amount (principle + interest) over a standard 10-year repayment plan comes out to a grand total of ~513K.
