Got my II in the mail yesterday. First one of this cycle. Super excited! OOS 3.9+/31 for those interested

Thanks! I'll be there October 18th. I think I mailed off the secondary July 30th, but my letters didn't get sent in until last week.

I'm a little late in the game for West Virginia... I added them on AMCAS about 5 days ago and received the secondary earlier this morning! I was very impressed with the quick turn around. Hopefully this will turn into an interview!

From what I understand, receiving a secondary gets you an automatic interview at WVU.

Not necessarily. If you check previous year's threads some applicants received secondaries but were rejected pre-interview.

I was close to this date but haven't gotten anything yet. I believe last week was orientation so I'm thinking Beth Ann might have gotten a little behind. Its been awhile since anyone posted about IIs

Anybody else hear anything? I sent out my app a while back, still haven't heard anything

II in the mail today for 10/24!!!

32/3.8 OOS

Mailed in my secondary materials on 8/6.

I interviewed here last cycle at the end of January and was ultimately rejected, so hopefully the 2nd time is the charm 🙂

So does that mean secondaries don't guarantee interviews like the poster above said? I sent it in before that by like a week

Correct. If you haven't noticed... nothing in this game of applications is "guaranteed". I believe somewhere in the directions it said it could take up to a month to hear back. I would wait till after that point and then give them a call. However, you haven't gotten a rejection letter, so keep your head up!

Give Beth Ann a call when it's been a month since you submitted. Don't give up hope yet.

EDIT: What he/she said ^

Just got my letter this week. II for 11/4!

OOS 3.75/33

Secondary submitted around 8/10

Wonder if there is somewhere we can leave our bags during the interview, or should I just leave my bag at the hotel front desk and get it before I leave Morgantown that night???

Hey guys! super excited i got a secondary!! What is this question trying to get at?
"Have you ever done anything that you have really regretted and what do you wish you would have done instead?"

Is it suppose to be a trick question or are they simply making us reflect on our lives?

Can anyone tell if I should apply? 3.63 in cgpa and sgpa, 27 mcat (19 first tim around)
from nyc...good ECs

Does anyone know the percentage they accept after interviews? Sorry if this is somewhere else in the thread. I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

For those of you who interviewed, what was it like? And how many other applicants are there per interview day?

Yeah interviewees, spill the beans. Let the rest of us know what we're in for! Do they give you any sort of time frame for a decision?

when i interviewed last year, i was one of about 12 that day (4 or 5 of us are now enrolled). the first day of interviews happened just this past week here, and there were 5 applicants that day.

interview day is well thought out and structured, but still at a relaxed pace. know your own application and be reasonably prepared and you'll be fine. interview i had was fairly low key, and both people you interview with will sit down with you at the same time. do not overly stress about this interview.

There were 5 my day and at least 3 of us are MS1s here now (I don't remember what the other two looked like so they may be here too lol). It's definitely a good sign to have an early interview!

Could you comment on the cultural diversity at WVU?

Could you comment on the cultural diversity at WVU?

As you can guess, West Virginia isn't the most diverse state in the country. However, WVU is a pretty diverse university. Our med school class is fairly diverse, in my opinion. Of course there's lots of white kids from Appalachia, myself included, but there's also a lot of people from different cultures and different states, all with different backgrounds. Our class is also 50% girls (woo girl power!). We also did a big diversity forum during orientation. I hope that helps, if you have more questions, just let me know!

I interviewed this past Friday. There were 10 people in our group but only 5 of us got interviewed by the same 2 physicians. It was an awesome interview day! The lady that led the presentations in the morning was very excited about WVU and what it has to offer. The two students that gave the tour were really enthusiastic and pretty much willing to answer any question. Then we came back after lunch to do our interviews. You are interviewed in a 2-on-1 fashion but the two interviewers were very laid back. Know your primary application! It was really nice because they focused on many of the things that I wanted to discuss. They really knew the application well and I was really glad to have looked over a few things.

I just got this email yesterday: "Your online secondary application information has been received. Once your secondary application materials have been received and reviewed, your only confirmation will come in the form of a mailed interview letter."

Super excited about this school! I added WVU 8/24, had the secondary 8/28, mailed in secondary on 9/4. It's going to be a long few weeks waiting for that letter!

So how long after mailing the secondary materials did people hear back about an interview?

I thought it was generally about a month or so. My friend mailed his secondary in around 7/8 and had the interview invite in his mailbox on 8/6.

I am an MCAT retaker, and WVUSOM has me on hold pending new scores.

I am pre-writing my essays now just in case, and I do have one question.
What should I put for the "ties to WVU" question, if I don't really seem to have any?

I live in an adjacent state and I drive through part of WVU on my way to the beach 🙂
That's about it! I'm curious what others have put.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated 🙂

I applied a few days ago, Monday or Tuesday, and I just got a secondary invite today. So interview invite upon submission?

II in the mail today. Sent out my secondary materials on 8/22 (priority mail), so I had a pretty quick turn around.

OOS no ties, >3.8 gpa, <30 MCAT. Very excited about this interview!

Congrats in the II! I'm hoping to have a quick turn around like you! What date is the interview for?

Late november. I've been skimming last year's thread, and it seems like my interview date is a little later compared to my II date. Some people last year got II's late sept, interviewed early oct, and received acceptances/waitlist late october.

Since you are OOS with no ties, what did you put down for the "ties to WVU" question?
Literally..."no ties"?

I am pre-writing pending upcoming MCAT scores to hopefully speed up the process should I be invited to fill out a secondary app.

Thank you!

Yup. I either left it blank or put no ties (whatever the option was). I've read before that some previous applicant lied about the "ties to WV" part and made up some story. He got called out about it in the interview, and I'm sure it didn't end well 🙁

Thank you! 🙂

I was nervous about just leaving it totally blank, since WVU seems to take strong precedence to in-state applicants.
