2014-2015 Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is seriously disheartening though, even more so than most other schools. They sent out a huge wave of interview invites in early August to the people who submitted secondaries by mid July, filling up interview dates from September to mid November. Everyone who submitted after the very early group is stuck with a 4 week completion time and probably December interviews. Yikes. When does the interview season end for Einstein?
It usually ends mid-April. They don't release decisions until February 1 so if you interview before January it probably won't make a difference.

Sorry if this was asked before but the search option on sdn mobile doesn't work very well.

I'm completing the secondary and I'm not sure about the question "have you taken time off since graduation". Do they mean time off from school? I graduated, started a Master's immediately afterwards, then postbac immediately after... So there is no "time off" from school but quite a few years have passed since my undergrad graduation. Should I click "yes" or "no"?

I would say yes. They want to make sure you haven't been getting high in your parent's basement since college. (Even though clearly you haven't, based off your educational history. There's a lot of repetition in this whole application process.)

You should give them a call tomorrow when their offices are open. They're very nice people, and I'm sure they can give you the answer to the question most accurately and completely.

Thanks for your answers! I think I'll go with "yes" and explain what I did after graduation.

I already embarrassed myself by sending them an email that I don't have the password for the secondary. A minute later I realized there is a "new user registration" button and you set the password yourself... Ugh.

I tried looking this up but I'm still not entirely sure, is on-campus housing absolutely mandatory for all four years?

Came here to see if Einstein takes more than a month to send complete emails. Apparently they do. I submitted 8/29 and still have not received a complete email. So, the waiting continues.

You should be getting one by the end of the week. I submitted around the same time 8/25 or so and got one last week.

II this morning! I submitted the secondary 8/1 but wasn't marked complete until 9/12. The available interview dates are mid-December through early January

II this morning, too! Pleasant email to wake up to haha. Complete around mid-Aug.

They shot out a ton of IIs early on and nothing since.

Loving the silence.

At least you're waiting for an II. I still haven't received my complete email yet...one month later. 🙁

Got an II today! Complete mid July.

I have a question that needs to be answered ASAP! If I booked an interview from 8:30am to 9:30am, when is the actual interview day over? As in, is there a tour of the school that lasts til past 3pm? I have a flight that leaves 5pm that day :/

According to their description, your day will end around 2PM. There's apparently a 30 min luncheon at noon followed by a 30 min tour.

41 days?!?! Darn it, I should've applied earlier.

On another note, do you really like vegetables? Digging the username!

Haha thanks! I'm a vegetarian and my friends jokingly call me "veggie boy", hence the username

Edit: Oh, and to answer your question: yes I do really like vegetables

Haha! I heard Kale is "in" this year! Trendy Veggies!

How long have you been waiting?

It's been 39 days for me and still no complete email 🙁

For IS students, how many interviews are usually given and how many acceptances are handed out?

Is there a reason they wait until February to release decisions?

The most recent interview date available was January 6 for me. IS applicant. II on Saturday October 4. Complete on September 16.

Is this a late interview do you think?

Nah.

Do you mind sharing your stats?

According to US News for in-state applicants, 1697 applied, 399 interviewed, 147 acceptances, 74 enrolled.

Pretty good chances then if you are IS and invited to interview. Has anyone interviewed here recently and want to share their experience?

Post interview IS and OOS odds are very similar. You can see my MD Apps for a review, although I interviewed on the first day.

Completed here 10/6! I'm an underdog (LizzyM 66)...hope my lateness doesn't hurt me too much!

Rejected MSTP, complete 7/23. This was my top top top choice, so this is one rejection that's especially tough, but there'll be plenty more knocks to take in this business. Wishing others better luck this time around!

And @pluto101, Mt. Sinai but not Einstein!!? It really is a crapshoot, isn't it? In the best way possible: When I saw your post, I felt like I was in good company, and that eased the sting.

Hi everyone! I am new to this thread, and am currently in the process of applying to medical schools. Congratulations to everyone who has received an interview! I wish you the best of luck.

I was wondering if anyone knew whether Albert Einstein is receptive to letters of intent pre-interview invite or not? I was complete 07/29 and have not heard from them yet.

Thank you!

as a general rule I would say no, to any school. letters of intent are for after you have 1) interviewed at this school, so really know something about it 2) have been to plenty of other schools, so you have a basis for comparison/small chance of changing your mind. it is not the right time in the season/cycle to be sending these

Rejected MSTP earlier this week. Like the poster above, I really wanted to go here; it was possibly my top choice. But oh well, life moves on.

Hey guys! Hope interviews and applications are going well for everyone! Any sub-30 interview invites/WLs/acceptances? If so, when were you complete and what were your stats? Thanks for the information and good luck to all applicants!

I was complete 08/24 and still haven't gotten a confirmation email. Does anyone know what bearing this has on my application status? Has it yet to be reviewed? Sounds like interviews are booked through early January, which saddens me...very much
