2014-2015 Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Rejected here today pre-II. Best of luck to those still in the running.

Rejected pre-interview too. complete.(i submitted my app early aug, but didn't get the complete email until sometime in september)

I'm interviewing here in Feb and had some research updates. How would you handle this? Pre Interview update letter or couple it with a thank you letter after the interview day?

I just received a very odd and very concerning email from here asking me if I'm still interested in this school.

It makes me wonder what options other schools are utilizing to cope with what seems to be a larger than expected pool of applicants. Yikes.

Edit: this is pre-interview; I've been complete since the summer.

That is kinda odd. Did you interview here?

It's just asking me if I'm still interested in further consideration because at this point in the cycle some applicants have been admitted to their top choice.

Just rejected. Average to above average stats for Einstein. Good luck, everyone!

Edit: pre-II, OOS, no ties to Einstein/NY.

I got the same around the same time. I'm guessing they sent out rejections and this email around the same time? So still in the running?

Yup, I just received this email too pre-interview. What are your stats like? I thought it might be for people that they thought were overqualified. I've got a 3.67 GPA, a 40 MCAT, and was complete by October, but the intent behind this letter is confusing. The only other reason might be because I'm an idiot and sent in my secondary 6 weeks after I got it.

pre-interview rejection today. OOS, complete 11/11. Good luck everyone!

Did you possibly get the odd email that was mentioned earlier in the thread? It said something about emailing them back if you still want to be considered

This is something Einstein has done for a while with applicants on the wait list in June-ish, first time I've heard of them doing it for students pre-interview. Although I would assume the strategy is the same - to see who is actually still interesting and who is just too lazy to withdraw after being accepted elsewhere. They have a limit to how many they can interview, so I would think this is a way of narrowing down the field before they send out more II's.

Just my thoughts though, I have no inside information!

Well, I guess I'm going to scramble to write an update letter today/tomorrow because my interview got moved WAYYY up.

Soooo.... anyone else going to be there this friday!?!?!?

That makes sense.
I mean, if there was a withdrawn button, I'd withdraw the day after I was accepted by a school that I prefer for personal reasons like I did for a couple other schools that have an option to withdraw through the portal. I did not send the withdraw email until almost 2 months later when I got an II.

Does anyone know of how many MD acceptances are given out to MSTP interviewees?

Found my dream school. @RIPCombo is the man as well. Great meeting you today and keep in touch

Minus this really obnoxious gunner chick that tried to out me. Worst person I've met on the trail. Danggggg.

Other than that the day was amazeballs.

I'll be here soon and this is exciting to hear, especially since this is my dream before even applying. Is it just the one interview then lunch/tour at noon and you're done? I'm pumped

Yeah, Interview, Semi Tour, Lunch, Continued Tour, and then done. Word of advice for lunch, make sure you get a drink, I didn't notice where the drinks were until I was at the register. I was in too deep to turn back. Learn from my mistake.

lmao. thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to hydrate in your honor

You can go back and get a drink and more food!

Was talking crap about me at the interview.

"Whose that ridethecliche guy he's supposed to be here. Which one of you is it?"

I just kept quiet and let her dig her hole. The med students were laughing at her and wondering how someone could be so petty. Other interviewees that didn't know my irl identity thought she was obnoxious too, so it wasn't just me.

No idea what her handle is, but I must have called her out somewhere in the forum. I definitely don't regret it now lol.

I'm still laughing about how everyone was uncomfortably looking around as she kept going on and trying to get me to confess as to who I was.
