2014-2015 Drexel University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I can't find anything on previous threads about Drexel's scholarship situation. Can any current students shed some light on Drexel's propensity to give out scholarships?

There is not a ton of scholarship money at Drexel, it's one of the main things they are working on. My year, each member of the class got at least something, from $500-10,000, based on need for first year.

They will look at individual accepted students later in the year to give scholarships. Some of the the scholarships this year are substantial (A few of them last year were 25k/year and it is probably being raised this year). They'll figure it out later in the year though, so there isn't anything concrete yet.

how long does it usually take for them to come to a decision after your interview? i just interviewed recently

Accepted this morning. I live in the West so if other distant applicants think their letter is lost in the mail, it just takes a good while. I too received a "decision" status on Oct 30. Good luck to everyone still waiting and congrats to all who've received good news.

I'm wondering why the letter takes a week or so to make it to its destination. Is it being sent first class mail or some other commercial class?

lmaoo i thought 5-7 business days was the standard mail delivery time, unless its same state?

Accepted after getting the "committee has reached a decision" status last week! Interviewed in mid-September 🙂

Anyone who has interviewed here for any suggestions for nearby hotels within walking distance of the school?

@tomz1385 and other Drexel affiliates--do you know what percentage of students who interview in late Feb-April are accepted here? The adcom receptionist said they interview into April.

There are none within walking distance I'm pretty sure.

I stayed at a hotel on City Avenue when I interviewed there.

Accredited Bed and Breakfast is wishing walking distance, but they provide a free ride to your interview.

Given the size of our class, I'd say your chances really are even if you interview at the beginning of the year vs at the end of the year. Just go in there and give it your best.

Interview invite sometime recently; just saw it today. IS, LizzyM >72 and I was complete around 9/22. Good luck, everyone!

EDIT: I chose this Wednesday as my interview date (11/12). I'm hoping to see a few of you there.

"Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University."

Roughly a month after my interview! Getting excited to find out! Roughly how long have previous applicants stayed on this stage?

I was on that stage from right after my interview (9/24) until today. Now it says "Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University." I think it just depends on how long it takes your interviewer to get their info in.

There are a good amount of people. Most of the Drexel post-bacc programs/some linkage programs to Drexel typically interview in Jan/Feb or later. So it probably skews the numbers. But I do know lots of people that interviewed in March / April that matriculated. Like Courtnes said - just come and do your best. Continue to do things while you wait around since it will help you with other schools or your application here in the future if you are waiting for an interview. If you get an interview here, it means you have a good shot.

Does anyone happen to know when any wait list movement typically begins? I have heard that it can happen at any time, as is the case with some schools, but I have also heard March and afterwards is the norm at Drexel? Do any of you current students know what the trend is?

Also congrats to those of you who were accepted!!!

Congrats to everyone being accepted. Anyone interviewed late September haven't heard anything yet? Still no status change for me

Does drexel take In-the-area email?

II seen yesterday! They didn't send an email so who knows when I actually received it! Complete 9/12

Interview on 10/23, changed today to: Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University. Seems like lot of difference in how this works. Best of luck all!
