For those with interview invites were there any dates assigned in the first week of September? I have the 10th but the first week would fit better. I don't want to ask if they aren't even interviewing then though.

My assigned date is 9/3. I got the II a couple days ago. I'm calling them today to see if I can move it to late September -- maybe that'll open up a spot for you on 9/3! I say call and ask them.

I called and now have a spot on the third. I don't know if that's coincidence or your spot, but wither way thanks for the heads up! The admissions office was so nice and the switch was a breeze, just fyi for anyone who wants to change their date.

@BMC11 @CTU Surgeon @Bovary Did the date on Medstar change for you guys after you rescheduled? I want to confirm my interview, but it still has my previous date.

Not yet. I rescheduled an hour ago over the phone for late-September, and hit "reschedule" on the website, but the date-change hasn't been put online yet so I'm still waiting.

Did they tell you to pick the reschedule option? I forgot to ask because she made it seem like it would automatically update immediately.

She didn't say to do anything. It did seem like it'd be automatic. I hit the reschedule option on my own. I'm not too worried about it.

Okay that's probably what I will do too then. I just didn't want to confuse their computer system.

Hey! So my interview for Sept 3 was posted on Wednesday. I selected the reschedule option and waited. On Thursday morning, I got an e-mail instructing me to call the admissions office in order to pick a new date. I called around lunch, I picked a new date (9/17) and was told not to worry but that the portal would not reflect a new date for about 24 hours. Just logged in tonight and confirmed the 9/17 interview.

Sorry I wrote you an opus about rescheduling haha.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I was wanting so no need for apologizing! I'm sure there will be plenty of people planning to reschedule later on who will find this really helpful 🙂

anybody's letters marked received?

Mine says...

The College of Medicine is ONLY accepting reference letters through the AMCAS Letter Service. Do not send reference letters directly to the College of Medicine – they will not be accepted nor retained. does it stay like this or ever turn to received?

Mine says the same thing.

Congrats to the recent interview invites! If you have any questions, I'm happy to help out.

Hey IncognitoGuy, I'd be very happy if you followed up on some of my questions 🙂
--First, do you know if OSU is looking for something particular in its OOS interviewees, something that could set us apart from each other?
--Second, do you know how many people are accepted who interview out of state, right now it looks like 20% of those interviewed matriculate, but I can't help but wondering what my chances are. I'm from the midwest too, but not Ohio.
--Third, do any of the interview questions focus on health policy if you remember? I'm asking b/c the OSU prompt was directly on how you'd help make healthcare available to all Americans.
--Fourth, do you know of any links (besides SDN, OSU school website) that'd be helpful to prepare for this interview.

Thank you!

1. Unfortunately, I'm not in the know as to what OSU is looking for. But I will say that a large amount of my classmates are OOS - there are especially many from California. In general, what will set you apart here will set you apart at any other school.

2. As I mentioned in #1, a lot of my classmates are OOS. I'm not sure of the exact number, but the USNWR may have that data. So, in my opinion it seems that location isn't as much of a factor as you may think it is, given that OSU is a public state school and it still takes many people from OOS. The in-state bias may appear because you have a very good undergraduate institution in Case Western which yields lots of competitive applicants, and the sheer number of students at OSU as well, many of which end up being competitive applicants in their own right. Throw in University of Cincinnati which isn't a slouch either and lots of other smaller, private but good schools like Kenyon College and you get a lot of strong applicants hailing from Ohio applying to medical school in Ohio and getting accepted, which may make it seem as though there is an in-state bias, when in fact they can do as well in many other settings. My point is, don't get hung up on the IS/OOS distinction, but instead figure out what in your application is strong or unique and make it shine.

3. I personally did not have any health policy questions, and I can't remember any of my friends who interviewed at OSU who did either. If you haven't found it, the SDN Interview Feedback site is very helpful: http://schools.studentdoctor.net/school/osu-comph/survey/26 (This is the OSU site in particular); http://schools.studentdoctor.net/schools/?view=medical (The whole list of schools).

4. See above. For the most part, your interviewers will only have access to your AMCAS Activities and their Descriptions. So, knowing that, you should know them completely at the very least. The SDN Interview Feedback was helpful otherwise in seeing what kinds of curveball questions may be thrown at you.

Question, are you supposed to get a complete email after submitting the secondary?

Question, are you supposed to get a complete email after submitting the secondary?

I didn't exactly get a "complete" email. I received notification 2 days after I submitted my secondary that I had a status change. The status change noted that my application was complete and under review. The interview came a week or so later.

IS here. I submitted 7/22 and got my status changed to "Received" on 7/24 and have been stuck ever since.

Anyone tried emailing or calling or is everyone waiting it out?

Do they only do interviews on Wednesday?

So I emailed the office and I got a lovely email back saying my application was complete and has been sent to faculty for review.

However, my online status still just says "received".

That is what mine said and then I got II

II! OOS, LizzyM 75
Complete 7/26.
Am super excited  Never been to the midwest!

Also the notification is such a tease...you get an email saying your status has changed (just like when you are notified of being "complete") and log in to the portal trying to temper excitement with low expectations lol

Just confirmed my interview date last week (9/8). I'm so excited!! Are there any current students who could comment on what the interview day entails? I received a general description of the day from the Admissions office, but I was hoping to get some insider information from people who have experienced the interview process in the past.

Seriously, I thought it was a rejection for sure haha

II received this morning. OOS, complete 7/28.

Anyone know how Ohio State feels about In the are emails? I'm just asking because I know a few people last year who got a bunch of interview invites right after sending emails like that. I'm interviewing in Ohio elsewhere already and would really like to limit travel costs.

What was the turnaround time from secondary to interview invite for people? Just wondering

Just received my II today! Does anybody know if they do interviews on Tuesdays? Wednesdays aren't the best day for me but I didn't want to bother with trying to reschedule if they only offer Wednesday interviews

Congrats! Sorry I can't answer your question haha. I was wondering when you were complete?

Did you find out anymore about this? I am in a similar situation..

I submitted the secondary 7/28, II on 7/30. Originally offered to interview on 9/10, but rescheduled to 9/17. LizzyM >75, IS.
