2014-2015 Oregon Health & Science University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wonder why it's not loading for me.. I just checked again. It states "requested time out waiting to execute "
Same here, it did that for me a couple hours ago and still won't load now.... Strange

Mine isn't loading either. But it's the login page that isn't loading so the webpage wouldn't even be able to identify which applicant you are. Gotta be random.

The portal finally loaded for me. Placed on hold. Interviewed 2/18

I had trouble with the portal and now it is back! Still no news for me... I think sometimes it goes down when they are doing major updating.

I still am not able to load the portal. May I ask when you interviewed and if you are IS or OS?

IS and interviewed 3/11. I have always expected to wait until April 30th. I am certainly still checking neurotically though...

I'm now getting the same portal error. Does anyone have an idea of what it means? Did it just resolve for most people after a few hours?

Yeah it resolved in like 6 hrs and then my portal status was updated to hold

By the way... I'm an in-state applicant, GPA 3.8 MCAT 31. Thought the interview went well, although it came very late in the process... First time I've been through the cycle. Any thoughts on my chances??

Harsh man, he's above average Gpa and good mcat. Post interview acceptance rate is like 60 percent for instate. Id give him like 70 percent.
From what I remember they interview about 200 in state and accept like 100ish in state, so that's about 50 percent. Also the MCAT and GPA only account for 20 percent of your score. I don't think anyone can actually give you a good idea of your chances. Based on just hard numbers i think it's about 50 percent. If you think the interview and MMI went great and you have good experiences then you probably have a greater chance.

Nah man, the msar says they matriculate 100 and interview 200. It's gotta be above 50 percent acceptance.

Do we know how many IS students that has been accepted? and when is the last day for an applicant to choose one medical school?

I think we've all been creeping on the ohsu accepted students page. Haha.

According to us news, in state acceptance rate is about 47% and OOS Is about 43%.. And they interview way more than 200 IS students..

Ahhhh man you're totally right. I could have sworn it was different on the msar but I was wrong. Sorry guys.

My portal was down for a good 4 hours and after it came back up live I still have no answer. The waiting continues...

Last years breakdown was:

OR Residents/OR Heritage = 114
MD = 110
MD/MPH = 4

Non OR Residents = 25
MD = 16
MD/MPH = 2
MD/PHD = 4
WICHE = 3

The point was, and continues to be, that there is no precise answer to this question. Is having a 60% vs a 50% chance really going to make the anxiety of waiting another month any more or less bearable? Hit the gym, delete SDN, etc...

OHSU has this note at the bottom of the portal page:

"Weekly Maintenance
This portal will be unavailable for use from 7am - 11am Pacific Time every Tuesday for routine application maintenance."

Does that mean withdrawing from waitlists at other programs as well?
No, you can hold waitlist spots. Just need to decide on one school of those you have been accepted to. That is how there is considerable movement on the waitlist after April 30th.

Has anyone verified with OHSU the 10/80/10% split of accepted/hold/rejected? Also, my hold status states that "Applicants put on hold will remain on hold until April 30." Do you guys think people will still come off the hold list starting a week prior to that date?

I interviewed on 2/18 and my portal was updated this morning to say that I was put on hold. So the waiting continues until 4/30!

Last year they had the same message and majority of people knew wait list numbers, reject and accept the Friday before, so I think we will hear something by April 24th

Hey everyone, good luck to those who are on hold or are still waiting to hear!

I'm looking to take an online Genetics course and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations? I just took Biochem from OSU and I am considering their course that just started. I've also looked at Berkeley's course and the UNE course. I prefer one that has online proctoring available since I'm in the midst of moving. Thanks in advance!

Dream update: dreamed last night that they accepted too many and decided that we had to take a bunch of scenario tests on our first day to decide who to reject...

Another dream highlight of the week is I dreamed that the first week they had us organize and complete organ transplants from a coma patient into 3 other patients and then rejected me for doing it wrong...

I took the online Berkeley one, and can't say I recommend it. There is literally NO instructor interaction-- any emails to him consist of copy and pasted answers from other easily google-able websites. He doesn't have his own lectures or any office hours. The final is proctored, so you need to find one of you're moving. .

Edit: for phone typing errors..

Thank you! That is very helpful.

That's what I assumed based off looking at the previous threads, just wanted to verify though.

If you took the Bi 200 series at OSU, you should check to see if that fulfills the requirement.
