Quick, everybody waiting on a decision/hold, post your anxieties on this thread. If we make enough of a ruckus the adcom might see and take pity on us. Then maybe, just maybe, they will release decisions/waitlist sooner

Hasn't enough anxiety been demonstrated already?

If they let us know on April 30th and it's an acceptance do we have to decide the same day? I would want to see the aid package first before making any decisions especially since I've already accepted another spot elsewhere. What's the protocol then?

I'm not sure what the exact guidelines are, but I doubt you have to decide the same day. It seems like it varies by school, but one of my schools gave these guidelines:

ADDITIONAL ACCEPT ISSUED APPLICANT DECISION
Prior to April 16 - April 30 Decision Deadline
April 16-June 7 - 3 Weeks from Accept Offer
June 7-June 21 - 2 Weeks from Accept Offer
After June 7 - ASAP

I couldn't find similar guidance from OHSU or in the AAMC traffic rules.

This is the adcom version of the traffic rules, see item #6:

6. After April 30, implement school-specific procedures for accepted applicants who, without adequate explanation, continue to hold one or more places at other schools or programs.
a. Each school or program should permit applicants:

1. A minimum of 5 business days to respond to an acceptance offer. This may be reduced to a minimum of 2 business days within 30 days of the start of orientation.

2. Submit a statement of intent, a deposit, or both.

b. Recognize the challenges of applicants with multiple acceptance offers, applicants who have not yet received an acceptance offer, and applicants who have not yet been informed about financial aid opportunities at schools to which they have been accepted.

c. Permit applicants who have been accepted or who have been granted a deferral, to remain on other schools' or programs' wait lists. Also, permit these applicants to withdraw if they later receive an acceptance offer from a preferred school or program.

They seem to be accepting a fairly significant # which may indicate that some of their earlier acceptances chose other schools. (or maybe not because we are all guessing...). I am still optimistic for us!!

Going to Mexico for a week for a medical mission, I leave on Saturday. I am happy also because for that week I wont torture myself by staring at "decision: hold" hoping it will change! We will get through this everybody!!!

I counted last night and of the individuals who posted on SDN there were roughly 20 accepted and 10 were IS (Can't remember the exact number now). That doesn't seem out more significant than normal.

There really doesn't seem to be much order to this process. Someone from March 4th got an acceptance, while a few February dates remain in limbo. Stay positive, everyone! Props to those of you who have had the nerve to call the admissions office. 😛

I got an email a few months ago after I submitted my FAFSA saying that they had received it and would follow up with any other institution-specific forms for me to fill out, but I never got anything... Anyone else? April 30 is rapidly approaching, and it'd be really nice to have this information prior to that deadline! 🙂

I checked with Financial Aid and they said they are sending out award packages in mid-April so we should receive them soon.

Yes I think last year the deadline was May 15th and we heard back like May8th
