2014-2015 Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Application Thread

By commit to Penn you just meant you put down the deposit and withdrew from everywhere else... Right? Just making sure I have everything covered 🙂

Haha exactly...I wish it felt a little more final. Are you committing too?!

Quick question, is wait list movement minimal or significant? Seems like the Adcom is pretty confident in their selections so far

there seems to have been major biding war for top dogs going on between Penn and Duke and possibly with some other schools. Who knows...

I've heard the movement on the WL at penn is pretty minimal. I definitely wouldn't expect good news but here's to the chance that both of us will be surprised!!

Talked to admissions today and they said no WL movement will occur for a bit- they have been getting a lot of inquiries but things should start happening then. No reason to freak out until then.

Late next week is what it sounded like. I assume they need to figure out how many spots they have after April 30th and then start offering to avoid overenrollment.

thank you! But shouldn't they know how many spots they have after tomorrow?

Nah tons of shuffling occurs throughout May and June. They sounded a little stressed so I am gonna sit tight and keep my fingers crossed!

I realized that it is no longer an easy task to switch away from my current school to Penn and that I have been pretty happily settled with my choice. It just don't make sense to stay on the WL anymore. Withdrew today and feel relieved--I no longer have to wait for "the email" --it's been a year and I'm a little sick of that stage. Nor would I waste away valuable time second guessing my decision. Good luck to those who are still pending the good news! I loved you Penn and I think that I still do, but we are not meant to be.

Sorry to hear that, but peace of mind goes a long way, so I think you've made a great decision. Good luck on your journey to become a physician 🙂

Does anyone know what the date of the white coat ceremony is?

Anyone know what immunizations we need? I'll be out of the country most of this summer and want to get a head start on that stuff

Waitlist movement has indeed begun. Good luck everyone still waiting!

Just withdrew from WL here in lieu of acceptance at my top choice, best of luck to everyone still in the running !!

I know that Penn does offer merit aid for those on the waitlist

Does anyone know anything about sending final transcripts? It isn't listed in the "to-do list", but it says in the acceptance tab to send them by June 15th. From my understanding, the education background check gives pretty much the same information as a transcript, so I'm thinking those might be considered part of the same thing. Either way, they don't give a preferred delivery address or method of sending them...

I'll probably just call the office tomorrow, I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

My understanding is that we need to send in final transcripts from each of the schools we have attended by June 15th. I assume so that they can verify our AMCAS information. @jibblesNbits , please update us when you get more info!

I mailed mine to the admissions office main address listed in the "contact us" section of the admissions portal and it got there just fine.

My background check page kept saying, "you're not on file" or smth smth like that. I know there was an issue, but is it resolved and it's just me or it's still not resolved?

I think they said they would email us when it's fixed and ready to go. At least as of yesterday, mine was still not working either.

oh opps. maybe I should read the whole email! lol. thank you very much for the reply.

Does anyone know what kind of iPad they are giving us? Wondering if I should sell my current model.

I loved Penn... The class of 2018 was amazing on interview day, and I'm sure the class of 2019 will be just as great. Unfortunately I was axed off the waitlist yesterday. Not gonna lie, it hurts...Penn was my #1. But if Penn didn't feel like it was a good fit it's probably for the best!

On the plus side I get to avoid the awkward clarification conversation that seemed to happen whenever I mentioned Penn: "No, not Penn state, University of Pennsylvania"

same!

I'm sorry that you cut. I'm sure you will do great somewhere else! And yessss the UPenn/Penn State mixup has happened to me tons of times already, and I always feel the need to correct people.

Nvm. I finally got it to work!
Hey can you tell me how did you get it to work? I have a different problem where it keeps telling me i have entered invalid info in a field. I have tried multiple browsers and credit cards and nothing works. I am paying out of Canada btw.
