2014-2015 Tufts University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I didn't receive a "complete" email either, submitted 8/14 and they already had all of my letters etc. My "submitted" email says they have received my submitted secondary and that my app will be considered complete when they receive my letters, AMCAS, and MCAT scores (which they already had)... I thought I was complete because all of the check marks are green... now I'm worried

+1

Okay I'm nervous too, now. I never received the "complete" e-mail, but on my application status there's a green check mark that says my secondary app is ready for review

I think their system is just glitchy, in fact I think this entire process is just glitchy. I submitted my secondary and received an application complete email soon after. Later i receive an application submitted email. Very odd...but also not the first time that happened as it has happened with a few other schools.

I never received a secondary complete email, I did receive a secondary submitted email and the next email from them was inviting me to an interview so i would not worry about the lack of complete if you have green checks next to everything.

Thank you for this! And congrats on the II!

Anyone know of other schools that have an integrated MD/MBA program like Tufts?

Not just an MD/MBA overall, but a 4 year program. So far Tufts has been the only school that has offered that as far as I can tell...

Not that I know of....most are 5 yrs. It was a big draw for me

Yeah me too. Only thing is that I wonder if it takes away from your time spend doing the MD curriculum bc you have to study for both at the same time.

Yeah...but saving 1-2 years might be worth it for the extra course during the semester. And most of the heeavy lifting seems to be in the summers

Hey guys would I be able to make a 530 flight out of Boston after my interview? Or a 6:50 flight?
There's a $80 difference between a 530 flight and 650 flight and any time after that is a huge price difference. Thanks!

I think I left at 4:15pm on my interview day, so a 530 is cutting it close. I personally would go for the 6:50 flight to give yourself plenty of time to get to Logan/not be stressed out.

Do you mind sharing stats?

anyone complete early august receive an II?

Hey guys, what hotels are people typically staying at and what are they paying? I've been looking at staying with a med student and it seems like a lot of there aren't too many students offering and many of them have exams/aren't in the weekend I'm going! I'd love to figure out this hotel business because so many of the hotels near the school are in the +300 price range! It's like nooooooooooo!!!! Where are the more affordable hotel/non-motels!!!

anywhere along the orange line will give you a straight subway ride to the campus. the boylston green line station is also extremely close and all of the divergent green lines go through that station.
maybe try airbnb?

Actually, I think I'm going to stay at a further away hotel and uber it to the school! Hopefully that works out!!! Thanks for all your input you guys!

Maybe they'll do one big round of interviews/rejections rather than holds? I'm hoping they don't do silent rejections.

All I can find on their admissions website is under FAQs, "We hold all applications under active consideration for an interview until end of February." Other schools that had a hold status (or at least informed you of holds) said specifically on their website that they had a "hold" status. So it seems to me like Tufts won't tell you if you're "on hold" or not.

True. Though even if we took into account the SDN selection bias, there seems to be little to no interviews going on so I'd be more inclined to think that we're still being reviewed rather than a silent hold. (Or maybe that's just my optimistic side talking.)

I was complete on July 28th and got an interview a few weeks ago. I'm airbnb'ing it because staying in boston is SO expensive! Hope that helps 🙂

You sound wise. Boston's hotels are impossible...

Hey, do you guys know if it's fine if I leave my luggage with the admissions office when I arrive or is that not something that Tufts accommodates?

The email listed to contact Tufts is the Associate Dean for Admissions, so I kind of don't want to email her with such a silly question!

Also, for those who've already interviewed, do you start off with the interview or when does that happen in the day normally?
Thank you!!

They have a place for luggage. Interviews are at the end of the day, either before or after the tour (the group gets split in half).

II for Maine track yesterday, I'm not a Maine resident and was complete mid August! They had one date in October, November and December so I'll be heading up to Portland in November!

Does anyone remember when they said they'd get back to interviewees? I had my int. on 9/23. Waiting eagerly!

I thought they said we'd be hearing back today, but it seems no one's heard anything yet! The silence is killing me!
