2014-2015 University of Alabama Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Same here! In state, Chemical Engineering. MCAT:28, cGPA: 3.79, sGPA: 3.63. I have no idea how they structure their invites. It's all so unpredictable. But you've submitted everything, and there is still a ton of time. I wouldn't worry. In last year's thread, people were receiving invites all the way in to March.

has anyone oos with less than 30 mcat gotten an interview thus far?

for other reapps. Are y'all just recycling essays or should I change them? I thought mine from last year were good, so I don't want to change them unless I really need to. Also heb100, I've talked to two people with 29s that have gotten interviews, but they go to school in-state so that may have something to do with it.

Anyone else get interview invite?

Anyone like me (in-state) submit the secondary right when it came out and still not have an interview invite?

Hello all,

Has anyone heard from MSTP?

I interviewed on 10/09 after getting my application in fairly late. Has anyone received an acceptance yet?

What is the average wait time to hear back after completing the secondary app? My status is "Secondary Complete and Under Review". I know it says several weeks, but I am just curious. Thanks!

I received my interview invite the following Monday after my secondary was marked complete.

Getting pretty nervous; Secondary in Progress since sep. 17. Anyone else with this problem?

Just received II for Nov 13. Regular Decision

Does anyone who's interviewed yet have any tips or information about the day? I'm interviewing tomorrow.

Anyone have any advice or helpful info pertaining to UAB's interview? I'm scheduled for Nov 13th, so im trying to prepare

Any acceptances yet? Or know when the first round of acceptances come out?

That is not likely to happen for reasons you will discover during your interview orientation.

I'm getting really anxious! Anyone know when people from last year first heard back after the late October interviews?

So we signed a form agreeing not to disclose specifics about the nature of the interview (eg: MMI prompts). If you have a more specific question (eg: morning vs. afternoon interview schedules), I could try to answer it if it doesn't breach the contract we signed. Best of luck on the 13th!

They didn't give an estimate at your orientation? They told us at the beginning of the month that the first wave of acceptances would go out by the end of the month, but that doesn't appear to be operative anymore, unless people are being very quiet about being accepted.

We only got, "you could hear back from us anytime throughout the admissions season." Sigh. Keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us, Phoenix.

This can vary so much! Last year, I was in a late October interview group. Some people heard back in about 2 weeks. Some from the group got their acceptance in Dec. and more added as the year went on. I personally didn't get in until somewhere around May.

Secondary Complete and Under Review since 9/18 and still no Interview Invite yet!
Is there an order to when applications are reviewed/considered?

I wouldn't worry yet. They're going to be interviewing for several more months. And no, I don't think there's a specific order. They definitely don't go in order of completed applications.

How are you able to determine if you are interviewing in the morning or afternoon session? They mention two different check-ins in the long information email but nowhere does it confirm which session you are assigned to. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks!

Mine was kinda confusing as well. I emailed them and they got back me within a day and told me which section. I would ask if you are confused.

I became "Complete & Under Review" today. I was hoping that meant I would hear something soon but the reply from Westen37 makes me think I will be waiting a while.

The admissions site says you have to complete your current degree. Does this apply if you already have an associate's degree?

I just got mine today! I'll be interviewing on 1/8. I'm OOS, but grew up in AL. (MCAT: 35, cGPA: ~3.3, sGPA: ~3.7, for all you stats junkies out there.)

+1, super excited! Still working out the date...

Any ideas as to when the next round of acceptances will go out? Im feeling first week of December

anyone know how long your secondaries stayed "in process"

MSTP Interviewees: How long after submitting the MSTP Supplemental did the UAB SOM Secondary/MSTP interview invites come in?

You must complete your current degree whether it be a bachelors or masters. I do not think it matters at all about having an associates degree. But, whatever program you are currently in must be completed.
