this page is silent... literally dying from anticipation
Lol every day is eternity. I just want to know about an II before the holidays. I'm sure they'll take along break from acceptances/invites

Do they serve coffee at the breakfast on Interview day? That literally saved my butt in my last interview!

The committee has to meet after today's interviews, so we should hear something before christmas!!! 🙂

Does anyone know what exactly they mean by sending grade reports by email? I'm going to send in this semester's grades, but I don't know what exactly they want since they want an email? Surely it's not just a screenshot of my grades?

Where does it say we're supposed to send in grade reports? I haven't heard anything about this, but i guess i definitely need to do it.

You don't have to, but if you're a re-applicant like myself these grades are important. It was under important information for applicants on the secondary. I took a picture when I filled it out.

My application is till stuck on Secondary in progress for the past 4 months. I've called several times and i haven't been given a definite answer only to be patient. I don't think it is normal, 4 months is quite a long. Does anyone else have this problem and is there anything i can do to expedite this.

Can anyone tell me more about the various campus assignments? On interview day, I really only found out information about Birmingham because the only medical students there were from Birmingham. But I looked at the website and it doesn't really tell me much about the other clinical campuses (Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville).

For 3rd/4th year, I'm looking for a campus site that offers a more relaxed lifestyle. Where it is "easier" and the hours are not as bad. Which is the opposite from what the medical students said about Birmingham's campus. I'm interested in primary care, so it is more important to me to develop those foundational skills than to see the cutting-edge in all the various medical fields. Does anyone have any input on the other clinical sites?

I called them to ask about grade reports and they said we don't have to send them for the Fall, but it's not a bad idea if we do (I am not sure about specifics for reapps though). They said an unofficial transcript will be fine to send in the Fall. We are required to send official transcripts and degree verification in the Spring though (by July 1st). I hope this helps anyone who is wondering about the grade reports.

Hmm, that's weird, if you have all your documents in (I assume you do). I thought my status changed automatically from "Secondary in Process" to "Secondary Complete and Under Review" once I finished uploading everything, so maybe it's a glitch of some kind. As long as they confirmed to you over the phone that they do have all your documents and nothing's wrong, I suppose that's all you can do for now. I've heard of others having inexplicably long wait times before getting an interview, so hopefully it'll all work out in the end. That's frustrating, though.

I was wishing I had more info on all the different campuses too - the students I talked to all had good things to say about Huntsville, but I didn't talk to anyone from the other campuses so wasn't really sure how they all differed. Tuscaloosa has a nice website though, which was helpful. It sounds like any of the regional campuses would be a good spot if you're interested in primary care, but I don't know if I'd count on any necessarily having better hours. If any current or former students see this and want to chime in, that would be awesome!

I am a first year so I haven't been to the other campuses but from what I have discovered from other students the main differences are between Birmingham and all the other campuses. Tuscaloosa and Huntsville will give very similar experiences and Montgomery might as well but it's difficult to tell since it's just starting out. In Birmingham you will mainly "work for" the residents. There is such a large group that you don't get much experience with the attending but some say that's better since the residents were medical students not long ago. The other campuses will get more time with the attending however for more competitive specialities it's difficult to get exposure that will look good on a residency application so many students do away rotations if they get those campuses. As far as the work load goes I can't say that it will be much different. On the one hand for the surgery rotation you might not have to get up as early for the smaller campuses but again there are fewer people so you will most likely work just as hard.
All in all I wouldn't recommend choosing a campus that will the most laid back, if there even is one, because there are many factors that are important to consider since you will be living in that city for 2 years.

For those having the same problem as i was, i finally got a more satisfying response from the admission committee

"Thank you for your email and interest in UASOM. Since your are listed as a Previous Applicant, those application are not processed and reviewed until after the first of the year. This is to give those applicants more time to show a complete application to the committee and to add any information and coursework to their application for the Fall semester. "

You are assigned to B'ham, I assume.

I talked to admissions as well, and they accepted just a screenshot of my unofficial transcript. They just wanted to make sure it had my student ID that I posted on AMCAS when i applied. I would think sending the reports in is only necessary for reapps or people who want to help their science GPA.

Submitted my secondary on 9/15 and my application still says Complete & Under Review. Grew up in TN, but my parents moved to the state two years ago and I've been going to school instate for 4 years. South considered me instate so I'm hoping UAB does too. I just wish they would hurry up and tell me something....

Anyone have any idea when official acceptance letters are going to go out? I got my acceptance email back in early November, but no word from UAB since then.

So I received a letter from UAB dated the 22nd that to me seemed really vague. You can imaging my excitement/apprehension at pulling a UAB medical school letter from my mailbox--only to find it stating something along the lines of "thank you for the interview...should you be accepted UAB is a great school to go to...". I have a few friends who seem to have received the same letter. Anyone have an idea what this letter is for? I don't understand why UAB would send out correspondence to applicants at this point other than an acceptance or rejection.

When did you interview?

Has anyone interviewed and had their status changed to one of the "Alternate" statuses, as opposed to remaining as campus choices received?

nope, did yours?
Nope mine has been that way since my interview in October :/ ... But I did just get back in town from the holidays and noticed that I received that "vague" letter from the school mentioned earlier

When did everyone get the additional interview information (morning/afternoon session) email? I thought they were going to send it the Friday before but I still haven't gotten anything from them.

did they say they get back to you starting from two weeks after you interview? anyone here interview on 1/15 like me?

yeah i interviewed on 1/15. they said the earliest we would hear back was two weeks which i guess already passed. anyone get acceptances from the 1/15 interview date?

I interviewed on 1/8 and haven't heard anything back yet either. Does anybody know if they have sent out another wave of acceptances since the 12/22 one?

Do they send out acceptances in waves? If so, would it be a good idea to call them and ask when the next wave is anonymously?

Reapp here. Still no II. I want to say when I interviewed last year that reapps heard back around Valentines day. For some reason that date stands out.
i'm expecting to hear around mid february and then probably get one of the last two interview dates. Pretty sure I was on the last one last year and i heard in late february.

I think that they do but I'm not sure. May not be a bad idea to call as anon and ask. I may do that at some point.

I called two days ago and the admissions office guy told me that he couldn't tell me a specific date but, he "believes" the committee is meeting "soon." He also said he couldn't tell me if the acceptances were sent out in waves or potentially when the next acceptances will be sent out. Thanks UAB for being the MOST ambiguous! yay
