I would agree as that would severely diminish any non-trad who had to go back to school for 12 - 18 months to do pre-reqs....seems like more of a comment to say something about people who try lots of different things for not very long. At least I hope so. Some of my most meaningful experiences, and the ones that led me to where I am today, are experiences from several years ago that had to end to allow me to get to the point I am at now.

I continued with my research and volunteer work. Didn't really change much of my personal statement.

Same here. I have a very long research commitment that I continued through the post-bacc but many of my experiences met their natural end when I finished my master's. To me it shows some growth when you move on to a new experience, building on what you've done in the past. But maybe I'm just justifying not juggling many volunteering gigs at the moment.

thanks so much for sharing, also wait.. they only admit 115 people and don't overadmit? (based off of the diagram 115 are admitted which is exactly the class size). That doesn't seem right based off the fliers I was given on interview day.

I think they just used the wrong word.... it should probably say matriculated instead.
 
I am kind of new to SDN, but I was wondering if anyone on here has started another thread/facebook group for those who are accepted to the class of 2019? If not I think we should start one, would love to get to know those who are going here next year! 🙂
 
Hi ! Getting so nervous for this interview-- It will be my first MMI! Any suggestions other than to 'just be yourself'? Also, is there a writing portion of the MMI? thank you!

No writing, no real way to prepare. Relaxation is your friend. When you walk in to the station, have a plan for what you want to say and why. Make sure you answer the actual question or speak to the issue (Avoid tangents.)

That is a tricky question… I would think they mean programs offered at UofA but I would just call the Admissions office to clarify. They are super nice and really good about answering questions.

Wanted to share to give some hope to those that submitted their secondary late… Got wait listed and thought I wouldn't hear about an interview until January or later and ended up getting an invite three days later. It is possible!

They aren't disorganized, there's just a lot of committees and committees at UAZ that go through applications post-interview and most likely meet at different times, so it's hard to predict when people may be admitted, and coordinate everything (it's shown on a pdf on one of the earlier pages). Still I wish they could tell us the date, especially since they said there are 2 official meetings where people accepted each month, and there was only one in november. IDK if they plan on doing three in december or just going through all the applications of previous months and doing 2 big waves of admission committee meetings. The thanksgiving holiday, also probably gave them some significant catchup work to do too.

Either way I hope it's soon.

I hope you're right, I REALLY hope you're right otherwise we'll be most likely waiting till next monday at minimum and I'm really eager to hear back.
 
Got the "Your file for the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson Campus is currently under review by the Admissions Committee" email today.. my heart nearly skipped a beat seeing an email from UofA admissions. Interviewed 11/15.. fingers crossed to a good holiday present (acceptance) from them! 😀

They ACCEPTED approximately 200 last cycle, of which 115 MATRICULATED. Their class size is 115. However, I'm guessing this cycle they'll accept slightly less because 10 of the 115 seats will go to their PMAP students, so this cycle they'll matriculate around 105 ( as opposed to 115).

I really wish they'd add extra slots for PMAP students bc that makes the odds harder for regular applicants.

I did get my interview invite at 5:06pm on a Friday .....
I mean you are probably right. I was surprised by the time of my invite. I guess we never really know haha

My interview invite was sent out the same time. I'm hoping they're compiling a list to be sent out this afternoon- pure speculation, or evidence, whichever you want to call it.

Both last year and this, they've routinely sent correspondence in the evenings. Sometimes as late as 1900. I got an email last year on a Saturday.

I just looked back at my email and I got my ii at 8:40 PM on a Friday night. It was bizarre...but then again I'm not complaining.
 
(true) ethical question:
what if you become aware of an applicant who grossly misrepresented certain, if not all of their activities, that they included in their secondary applications they had sent to multiple medial school programs? it seems that it calls into and questions all of their activities on their primary application but the intergrtity and the lengths they will go to get accepted--not really want this type pf person treating my family members nor wanting them as a fellow student. if you have to lie about an activity, then either do it as you said you did it or don't say that you did. your thoughts?

The online MSAR says 604 interviewed last time so it's basically one more interview day worth of people. Do we know how many seats they are actually offering, or are we guessing from previous years and incorporating PMAP into the number? I'm not a math person though so I'm not even sure why I'm asking haha :thinking:

I doubt that they can offer that little seats. Even schools like Harvard will accept ~30 more than their class size to matriculate a full class. A state school like UA will accept even more.
 
Sorry, I think you misunderstood. They will still be offering more than 115 acceptances but the PMAP students will be part of those 115 seats actually filled.
 
I do this constantly..... I keep saying acceptances myself when I mean matriculants.
Tucson will be matriculating XYZ number of students (115 - PMAP?) but will offer a lot more acceptances to ensure they get enough students for the class. It has to be a pretty complicated system when you think about it to work out how many acceptances to offer to ensure the class is full, but not so full that they are like... crap... .130 students is too many!
I also keep doing this... whenever I see II. . . . instead of going Interview Invite, I see a 2. . . and I say it like that as well. When I was waiting to get an II and friends would ask how it's going I would say I am waiting for a 2.... and then be either looked at really strangely, or have the med students laugh at me and correct me..... again.
Anyways - I should be studying, but this forum is so engaging sometimes 🙂

I think they'll offer around 190 seats.
