2014-2015 University of California - Riverside Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has there been any confirmed wait-list movement at all yet?

Anyone been accepted after 4/30?

Are they waiting for a few open spots to stack up before reevaluating/sending out more offers?

An acquaintance/friend of yours I imagine?

I just didn't notice any sdn posts of acceptances post 4/30 so I was wondering what their process is.
Ya SDN crew has seen little love from UCR this year compared to last 🙁 many of us are in the Western or UCR boat ... The aforementioned acceptance was someone's friend

i'm still holding on hope. it's annoying because my friend was born and raised in the area. and has pretty amazing stats. oh well, UCR, your loss. you're losing out on some great people who will turn out to be great doctors.

I can imagine the frustration. The problem is there are more qualified applicants than there are seats. It's an unfortunate circumstance at all the schools. But keep going. I had a friend apply 3+ times with no interview each time and is now in medical school. I had a friend accepted 2 days before orientation. It really is a game of perseverance. You got this though, if you have that will you will get in.

I didn't apply, but my friend did.. I plan on applying this upcoming cycle. I agree with you, though, unfortunately there's too little seats and the competition is insane, esp for CA.

Called Tammy, and she told me the class isn't full yet and they are working on it. They have sent out rejections, so if you haven't heard anything, it's "good" news. Hopefully one of us hears better news in the next coming weeks!

arghhhh, I'm tired of feeling worried one day and "relieved" another, I can't begin making moving plans and whatnot until I know which school I'm going to :[

Haven't been following this thread but I just wanted to let you know that I also received the email a few days ago and have decided to withdraw. Best of luck with the wait list!

So does that mean that they have open positions/spots?

If so, I wonder what the hold up is. I figured it would just be a rolling process at this point; fill up seats soon after they open up.

I'm not sure what the traffic rules are but there are certain segments after the wait list begins and to matriculation for amount of time someone has to accept offer. It could be 2 weeks or 1 week not completely sure.

So I sent an email asking if there were open spots/waitlist movement for this 2015 incoming class, and I got a reply:

"
Hi _____,

We have offered all spots and received acceptances.

Sincerely,

Julie"

.... :[ sorry to be the bringer of bad news.....

How did it go from class isn't full yet to confirmed full in one day.

What the heck is that.

Guys it's not even June yet. There is still waitlist movement occurring at other schools and there still can be shuffling - it takes time. But in the meanwhile, a letter never hurts 😀

The whole application cycle has also moved a half month earlier this year because of the backward shift in deadlines. There won't be the same pattern as last year.

Right now, is somewhat equivalent to mid-June, in terms of last year's cycle.

Everything is pretty much done at this point, and it's really a sad thing.

I disagree. If you read the traffic rules there are time limits for people to accept wait list offers. That is still occurring now. People get accepted in July - we only have two classes so this hasn't occurred yet but it does for plenty of schools. Stay positive and try to up your chances by sending a LOI.

ugh, last year people on this thread got a lot more love. sigh. 🙁

They really should let us know where we stand after this week.

That's mid-June, and I can see no reason why they haven't decided on who to decline and who to wait-list.

Wonder if any got acceptances? this year looks like the filled up their class a month earlier =/

Well the day we get rejected I received my invitation for white coat ceremony at my other school. Made me realize to be happy as I will still become a doctor, much like everyone here!
You guys got the email today? I didn't get anything... Stop playing with my emotions UCR!!

And I got my WesternU white coat ceremony card too haha

have any other post-interviewees not received their rejection email? I'm thinking of calling next week. Maybe they forgot about me

Time to bail out of the sinking ship! The rats (me included) have left already.

Got TWO rejection emails from UCR today... thanks but you already sent a copy back in April...

So I keep waiting to get my rejection email and then I don't....have I missed it or do they send it through the mail? Has anyone else not heard anything at all?? Thank you in advance!

I still haven't received a rejection. After emailing them multiple times, calling them multiple times, and leaving multiple voice messages, they finally responded. Dr. Schiller says he does not anticipate any more movement in the waitlist, and that the class is full. He basically told me there's no more hope for us waitlisters.

Hello, I am from 2015-2016, but needed some input for UCR's secondary. For the activities and extracurricular section under the description, what do I put there?

For example, I was a supplementary instruction leader, do I describe that, or just put supplementary instruction leader?
