What are we thinking waitlisters... are we giving up hope yet or should I stay positive?
Does anyone wanna take one for the team and call and ask if they have completed most of their waitlist movement and to what extent we can expect for this year? Those are vague questions so I doubt they’d have problems answering that. I don’t even think they have had a wave like they usually do. Last year we were seeing multiple comment on this forum around this date about the A they got off the wl. It only seems like 1 or 2 have gotten off. I’d call but I’m out of the country rn and I don’t want to be overcharged 😂.

Please!!! But yeah you're right... I haven't seen a huge wave which is very different than past years. The reason I'm unsure if there will be any large movements is because waitlist offers came out way earlier this year so I expected the movement to have already happened. I fear they are just pulling people one by one as people withdraw their acceptances (which seems to be rare)

That’s a good guess as well, but I don’t agree with it because I still would’ve expected the few who experienced this movement to say something on the forum about getting off the wl. This year only 2 have. Last year a bunch mentioned getting off the waitlist. I know obviously a bunch of ppl don’t use sdn, but the reflection on this forum is still really low keeping that in mind. Also I haven’t heard one person talk about a prime acceptance or a conditional admit acceptance? The only other thing that would make sense is if they over enrolled to begin with. Then at that point they should just put us all out of our misery.

The first waitlist acceptance wasn’t until May 8th last year, so let’s not start panicking just yet lol.

My guess (which is probably correct) is that they interviewed a whole bunch of high stat applicants in the end. So that come 4/30 if they see they have no As they can give them one knowing they will obviously matriculate. However, I do believe they aren’t just replacing everyone who withdraws with these people, to me it’s just a coincidence that the last two were from 4/16. I read somewhere a couple weeks back that UCRs waitlist while it is “unranked”, it is also secretly holistically ranked. Think about it UCR always wins an award annually for being “the most diverse”. It only makes sense that when one person from a specific demographic eg (gay, Latino, low ses) withdraws they do their best to replace them with someone on the wl with the same profile preferably with high stats lol. It’s all a numbers game to these schools so odds are if they see you haven’t PTE else where and you are a high stat applicant who checks the boxes they are looking to fill they’ll choose you. This is because they also want their yield to stay high (number of those who accept the offer they give them). Lets Just hope and pray, while still being happy for those we see come off the wl whether they came off on our date or a later one 😋

Honestly who knows at this point. My guess is your WL date really just relates to you II date and is not a ranking. Look at last year the pulls from the WL was out of order. Also last year the most movement was right around the CTE of May 15th. I do think haiders have to wait longer but also it seems like they WL a lot this year. Praying for the best for all of us

I’m not a high stat applicant ( gpa <3.4 and MCAT <510) but what I think really helped me get off the WL is I’ve lived in the IE my whole life and have had connections to both UC Riverside and surrounding areas that they often work with as well 🙂 really hoping the best for everyone bc the waiting is brutal

Not to sound rude or anything but thats what mostly everyone if not all of us did too. Thats why we were considered/interviewed in the first place—we all fit their “mission.”
