2014-2015 University of Illinois Application Thread

Hmm I'm only thinking of calling because I interviewed back in September, and they told us we would definitely hear back by the end of October.

Are you is or oos? I'm oos so maybe that has something to do with it

I'm IS so that's probably not it. My interview also wasn't until October. I'm just excited to hear back so it's making me impatient. Maybe it still takes a day or two after the committee meeting for them to update statuses. I'd be surprised if they were done real-time.

So strange! Although if they told us we'd hear back by the end of October, I trust them that we'll had back by the end of October haha.

Any other september interviewees care to chime in on their statuses?

And good luck to everyone applying!

Where does it show you on the secondary website that status of your application? I searched through all the tabs, and I must be blind.

So during my interview I spoke with the guy working in the office of admissions, and while the meeting is supposed to be every third Thurs, it may not be today because it is so early in the month still. and there's only been about 5-6 interview days, so most everyone interviewed prior to today should be considered.

It's not on the secondary application page! You have to go into the status page. They sent you a link to it in the first email your received from UIC, likely 2-3 months ago.

Interviewed week of 9/21. Current status: "evaluation not complete."

Based on previous posts, it sounds like the committee is meeting/met today. They likely made decisions regarding most if not all of those who have already interviewed. Admissions staff will be updating their system with those decisions. Based on the admissions process overview outlined previously, those include: accepted, wait listed, decision pending (your file will be reviewed again at the next admissions committee meeting), or rejected. We should see updates to the application portal and/or receive our status via snail mail within the next few days-weeks.

That's my theory, anyway.

Mine just changed to decision pending..I'm really hoping this is a temporary status until "final decision made" and doesn't mean I have to wait til next month..but we'll see.

Anyone else care to share theirs?

Still evaluation not complete, but looking back at last year's thread, some people's statuses changed on Friday (or they only noticed then)

completed 8/10..applicant still in progres.....probably should expect a silent rejection
I was complete around then, and I only changed to applicant in process a week ago. Don't give up yet.

my status didnt change, evaluation not complete.. i wonder what this means... good luck to you all!!

my status just changed to 'decision pending' ... did any one's status change to this today too?

It looks like everyone that's interviewed is getting this status. Keep checking throughout the day, hopefully it'll change again soon!

Good luck!

I was a 10/14 interviewee and my status has also changed to decision pending... man this is nerve-wracking

Keep it calm! we are all on the same boat 🙂 I m sure we all have good news coming our way ! good luck to you all future Dr.'s

+1 for "decision pending". I'm curious whether this year's status changes follow a similar format to past years. It's so hard not to over-analyze everything! Hoping for the best for all of us!

Has anyone who interviewed in Sept/Oct gotten the "decision made" + "additional correspondence" tab as seen in previous years?

I wonder the same thing, for now, it seems that everyone got the 'Decision pending'... I just hope this doesnt mean we have to wait longer! This waiting game is the worst!! Again, good luck to everyone!

So the first post from last year about a status update came at 4pm CST 1 day after the adcom meeting, so I guess I could just wait until 5pm to check my status instead of every time I lose focus

I thought the first one came 3 days after, i may have miss checked but thanks for the info. Let's all keep it positive.

Had in interview on Monday and cancelled Wednesday as I got into another school. Good luck all!

Joining the Decision Pending group. Interviewed on 9/24

Just to be sure, there is a strong preference for in-state students right?

This sounds plausible and would explain the high number of "Decision Pending" status changes and the lack of anyone reporting anything along the lines of a final decision (i.e.g accepted/rejected/waitlisted). Last year around this time many SDNers were reporting "Final Decision Made" with the additional correspondence tab. That no one has reported this so far makes me think the adcom hasn't yet met. When I interviewed on 10/3 they told us to expect a decision by the end of October, so my guess is that the admissions committee is likely going to meet this Thursday. Hopefully, anyway 🙂

MSAR Stats for 2014
In-State
1,847 Apps
599 Interviews
246 Matriculants (assume roughly twice as many acceptances as matriculants)

Out-of-State
5,749 Apps
298 Interviews
68 Matriculants

Like many state schools, they have a pretty strong in-state preference. I'm not sure what's an appropriate guess for the number of out-of-state acceptances b/c the out-of-state tuition is so incredibly high. It could be that far fewer out-of-state acceptances ultimately matriculate for this reason. This would imply that out-of-staters who interview have a better chance of acceptance than the matriculant data suggest. Who really knows though...

OH good Lord, i just can keep playing this waiting game no more!!

I just got my II today, quite frankly was pretty shocked since I considered my application this year to be just going through the motions with little chances.

In state, cGPA<3.5, sGPA < 3.2, 35+ MCAT. Non-urm. I was complete in late September. Snap, that MCAT really paid its bills:highfive:

II today also. Compete around early October. LizzyM ~71

I got an II today as well. When I called to schedule, there were no available times and they are waiting to open more.

Still no change from "decision pending"

This waiting is torture! Though hopefully Thursday will be the day 🙂

II for me! Complete 9/1. Missed out on the only date in November though :-/ had to schedule mine for early January

Finally changed to applicant in process. application complete 10/07. now time to wait forever for a chance at some good news.

I've been "applicant in progress" since late July...anybody else in this situation? This cycle is really helping me to cultivate patience haha

+1 earlier posts indicate that when they start looking at your app, it changes to applicant in process. Does this mean they haven't even looked at my app?

I'm a reapplicant and I applied last year and know several other people who applied last year whose status never changed from applicant in proGress to applicant in proCess. In March, I received a rejection letter by snail mail and when I looked at the portal it still said applicant in proGress. This makes me believe that the applicant in proGress status doesn't only mean that they haven't started reviewing your application. But then again I'm only basing this off of personal anecdotes and know nothing about their admission process, so theres a very high chance I'm wrong!

Thank you for clearing that up.

Congrats to all of those with IIs! I'm still eagerly awaiting when these decisions will be released. Mine is still pending. Do any of you think we'll hear back tomorrow?

There's a good chance! They said we would hear back by the end of October, so hypothetically if they were to only send out letters next Thursday, most of us probably wouldn't get our letters until November! So I'm thinking there's a good chance they'll update statuses and send the letters tomorrow.
