2014-2015 University of Louisville Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OOS applicant, military, lived in Louisville 2 years, 30 MCAT. Interviewing here next Tuesday, any advice? Is it hostile? Or one of those "stress response" things with actors?

Not sure what my chances are but I'm looking forward to checking out their program and getting a good ol' Hot Brown.

The interview is very laid back. Two 30 minute interviews with two different members of the committee. Just relax and be yourself. Focus on how your experiences have influenced your decision to go to medical school and specify why you are interested in UofL. Also if you are active duty and stationed in Kentucky you are considered an in-state applicant (http://www.lrc.ky.gov/kar/013/002/045.htm).

Secondary submitted today! Almost done with MD secondaries.. Thank goodness!

Thanks so much! That's a relief to hear. We're no longer stationed in KY, and now it's just my husband who is active, so I'm not sure if they'd think of me as in-state, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to interview. LOVE Louisville. Bonus-- I can pronounce it right. 🙂

Hi all,

I am trying to fill out my application but unfortunately the prerequisite section is screwing with me: I have taken classes at both a semesterly and quarterly school. In order to write in one years' worth of credits for certain subjects, I need more than two slots for labs and lectures. I need three (three lectures, three labs) slots. How should I deal with this? Should I attach a short paragraph in the end attachments section explaining why I only listed two? Should I list two within one slot and the third within another so that I can fit one years' worth of credits into three slots? Halp plz. 🙁 Thanks

I also had that problem and just filled on as many classes as there were slots. Remember they still get your amcas which should have all your classes on as well

Does anyone know the likelihood of hearing news come Oct. 15-16, if I interviewed early september? This waiting is driving me crazy, and I am sure it is doing the same to the rest of you.

My guess is you'll find out about that time. According to UK it seemed anyone who interviewed before Oct 15 would get answers then.

Waiting is pure torture

anyone got any news of acceptance or rejection??. News is supposed to come out today for those that interviewed early. Any idea on what time to expect news??

I just called and they said that they are drafting a letter to send to everyone who has interviewed so far in order to notify us about the decisions. Basically, we should all have some idea by the end of the business day.

Good luck!!

Thanks so much for doing this and sharing! Very kind of you.

That's great news! We're you IS or OOS and stats?

Got put on the waitlist... anyone in the same predicament?? and what are the chances of getting out of the waitlist

Did it actually say that you were waitlisted or that you were in the waitlist consideration pool? I got the waitlist consideration pool that they will be revisiting in February or March for final waitlist selection.

Thats the same email i got. It means the same thing. pretty much means that as people drop their seats, they will pick from the wait list pool

well i just called them to explain what the email meant because i got the same email as you... but she said it meant that they will review my file again and then make a final decision about it (so i could still either get rejected, or accepted)

I hate this because it's not guaranteed that we'll even make it to the final wait list. A small part of me wishes I had been rejected so I don't have to be strung along, but the rest of me is hoping for the best.

Congratulations to everyone with acceptances, and I'm sorry to hear about the waitlists/holds 🙁 Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear!

Does anyone know if we should accept the admission offer via email or through regular mail? They mention "in writing" but I wasn't sure if it needed to be a physical letter. Thanks!

Does anyone know of any II offers since September 18th? Does Louisville send rejections or are they silent rejections? I am OOS have been complete since 8/8. Thanks!

I'm wondering about this too... Also I didn't see any information about a deposit.

I ended up calling them and they said as long as you don't have any other materials to send to them (I think for OOS students?) then you could just email them.

From what i understand, i think our situation might actually be better than a waitlist because they'll make a decision on us before they proceed to the waitlist... or maybe this was a nice way of them telling us that we are pretty much on the waitlist.

II just now!! OOS, complete around 9/29

for everyone still waiting it looks like there are still several interview slots left in december 🙂 good luck!

Stats?! I was complete 9/26 and have yet to receive any form of news (II, rejection)....leh sigh.

my stats for this school are pretty average, but I have a compelling story so I'm guessing thats why I heard back so quickly. Most other schools take 4-8 (and sometimes more) weeks to get back to applicants...and we're pretty early in the cycle. So I wouldn't give up on them just yet 🙂

II today! OOS, 3.6 cGPA, 3.5 sGPA, 33 MCAT. Can't wait to see everyone on 12/11!

Oh HEY I'm the exact same stats except I completed later. Perhaps there is still some hope for me haha.

Can you let us know many interview slots are left in December?
The 11th was the only day listed in January. There were several dates in January, though.

Is anyone who interviewed 10/7 expecting to hear something today? Thoughts...

Interviewed 10/22, accepted 12pm 10/29! IS woop woop

I'm still getting this email: "The University of Louisville Admissions Committee has not made a decision on your file. Your file has not been wait listed or placed on hold and therefore, will be made available to the Committee at subsequent meetings."

Does this mean they haven't looked at my app yet? I interviewed 10/7, so the 10/22 interview accept makes me nervous.

Anyone know if Louisville accepts application updates from applicants not yet invited for an interview? If so, would an email to the admissions office suffice? Appreciate any given advice!

I got the same email on 10/15, even though I interviewed in September. I got admitted last Wednesday, so I wouldn't worry too much about it! I think it basically means that they have yet to do a post-interview review of your file.

Yep, the admissions office does take updates even if you haven't yet interviewed.

Yeah, during my interview the Director said that most people would receive a "No decision" email until they actually meet and discuss your application + interview (as I recall, they were behind on reviewing apps at that point). She said that the only exception was if both of your interviewers gave you great scores unanimously and that a further discussion/review of your application was unnecessary--which I suppose happened in my case. Keep waiting. They should email you every 2nd/4th Wednesday of the month.

Yea, I've got my fingers crossed... the waiting is tough. Also, I should have said this earlier, but congratulations!
