I have a few questions if anyone could help me out--
1) how far down the IS middle third did they go last year (i think ms osbourne said it on interview day but i cant remember)
2) how many people are on each third?
3)does anyone know the chances in IS mid third

also does anyone have an update on the accreditation stuff? I'm assuming its all fine and working out, I was never worried in the first place I was just curious if there was an update.

So, I'm not sure if this was ever made clear. Because today was the day to narrow multiple acceptances to just 1, will people start to hear about wait list acceptances tomorrow?

That is definitely my hope and it happened the same way last year with the old May 15th date that people heard back the 16th. So, I think it's reasonable to dream!

I thought for sure there would be more posts today! Nevertheless, my friend just got in top 1/3 IS today....so i'm sure there's been a little bit of wait list movement today!

From last years forum it looks like they sort through IS first then move on to OOS in a few weeks. Stay strong my OOS buddies!

Well crap. I'm IS Bottom Third. Have they ever dipped that far down before?

Would some people on the top or middle third of the wait list mind posting their stats? I interviewed in September with a 28 MCAT and a 3.69 GPA and was placed on hold. I met with Ms. Osborne and she told me that both of my interviewers recommended me for acceptance but the admissions committee as a whole voted to put me on hold because they wanted to see if any better applicants interviewed later. I retook the MCAT and got a 32 and thought that this would help me to get a better spot on the wait list, but I was ranked in the bottom third. I would like to know what the stats are for other people who are on the wait list so that I can compare them to mine to try to figure out why I was placed so low on the wait list.

Thanks

Top third OOS. Similar GPA with an MCAT a few points higher than your second one.

I'm assuming your OOS?

I know people in the top 1/3 with mcat scores around 27/28. Not sure how they determined it. I'm IS in the middle third with 30 mcat and 3.73 gpa. Also interviewed in September.

Did you take your second MCAT in January? A friend told me UofL doesn't accept January MCATs but I don't know if that's true.
I did take the MCAT again in January, but I spoke to Ms. Osborne in February when I received my new score and she said they had updated my file to reflect my new score. Nothing she said when I talked to her gave me any indication that they wouldn't accept my new score.

I think they look at everything overall too. Besides mcat scores, and GPA. Like interview, volunteer work, employment, etc. I think you get a composite score based on your entire CV. Not sure entirely, but makes the most sense to me. Hope that's helpful. Also, could be totally wrong!

I agree, I'm sure they take everything into consideration, but since I was told that both my interviewers recommended me for admissions I assumed that my interviews had gone fairly well and that I had gotten a decent score. My ranking just really threw me off because the vibe that I got from talking to Ms. Osborne was that I was pretty competitive and that there wasn't much I could do to improve my application. I'm just trying to figure out how I compare to other people with better rankings to try and figure out why I was ranked low and what I can do to make myself more competitive if I have to reapply.

Yeah, I agree with you that it's weird that she said that and you were still bottom third because she said on the interview day that once you were in the interview stage it was an even playing field. So, there are only a couple ways you can make sense of your rank based on that. 1. Every person placed on the waitlist got recommended by both interviewers. 2. What she said isn't completely true and it is not only interview score that determines rank.

I was told the last mcat score they accept is the one released in December. That was the case for me (late applicant). I had a lower overall gpa (engineering major) but a higher sgpa and gradgpa. I haven't inquired about my interviews. One thing I have learned is that medical school admission decisions can vary widely from school to school. Trying to figure out how they reached a certain decision can be frustrating. Hope you get in but if not I would definitely call and ask what can be done to improve your app.

IS top third here. Haven't heard anything yet...but hoping to really soon!

My friend who was top third got in yesterday! I'm middle third. Patiently waiting. Ugh

The wait is killer b/c according to history we are very likely to get accepted, but I want to know NOW! Haha

Also, did anyone ever figure out how many people are in the top third for IS?

Has anyone IS top third heard anything since Monday? I'm checking my email three times an hour.... This waiting game is killing me and based on prior year's threads it seems like the waitlist was moving much more quickly!!!

I agree...waiting is driving me crazy too! I wonder why the WL has been so slow compared to other years?

The Facebook group is up to 121 members. The classes of '15, '16, and '17 ended with 165, 163, and 163 respectively. I know this has nothing to do with how fast the waitlist is moving and is sort of a roundabout way of thinking about this, but I think it does mean we can expect some more movement. Even if there are accepted students who haven't joined the group yet, it is equally likely that there are accepted students in the group who will withdraw their acceptance. Basically, we should all still have lots of hope. The first round of people accepted from the waitlist will have to give a decision soon.

There are also people in the Facebook group who are current first and second years, so the number of actual 2019 members is even lower than what it reflects!

How long do people have to make a decision if they are accepted off the waitlist? Is it one week? Bc if so, then hopefully we should hear something today since last Friday was the first day they started making acceptances.

I believe someone said 7 days earlier. So, yeah if not this evening then by Monday there should be some new movement I hope!

Edit: I just went back and checked and did not see anything but I'm almost sure I read/saw it somewhere.

I was accepted last Friday and had until today May 8th to decide so students are given a week to accept or not.

Random question- especially since I cannot find any of my handouts from the interview but is the curriculum systems based? I completely forget the set up!

Yes, it is system based. You used to be able to find the curriculum pdf online but they recently changed their website to where you have to login to see it. If you'd like to know more about it I could go into more detail.

Actually if you go to the main ULSOM website, current students tab, then Office of Med ED, it will give you the pdf of the curriculum. No log in.

Ahh, yeah this must have just got updated within the last few days because it wasn't working before. Thanks!

Just accepted a few hours ago! OOS top 1/3! So incredibly excited! 🙂
