2014-2015 University of Vermont Application Thread

what does the status say for preliminary review? Mine has been "your supplemental application has been received. Please note that it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed..." for more than 2 months... is this preliminary review? Or am I not even complete yet?

That's the one I had for more than two months too. I think it then goes to "your application has been reviewed, please allow up to 6-8 weeks..." Which then goes to a "small pool," which then goes to an II or not. I'm pretty sure that's the order. Can anyone confirm this?

I think my app was under preliminary review for ~9 wks. I was then small pooled, and received an II a few days later. No need to lose hope until you actually receive the actual rejection.

woah. I took the small pool to be a bad thing. I hope I have similar results to you!

I've been on that status "Your supplemental application has been received. Please note...." since August 1. Anyone after August 1st, OOS, been reviewed yet?

For those who recieved II's, how long did you wait after being small-pooled? I was small pooled 10/2ish, haven't heard anything from them yet.

Same...Small-pooled sometime during the last week of September. Hoping for some good news!

When is everyone fling out after interviews?

So obviously nobody can talk about the actual nature of the MMI b/c of the agreement you signed...but can someone confirm that the interview is MMI format? I just want to know what to prepare for and "nine circuit interviews" is a bit vague.

What does the small pool status look like?

Not sure if everyone gets this but...here it is!

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Interviews are scheduled between mid-September and mid-March. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Vermont and your patience with the admissions process.

I am having my interview this Saturday and I caaaaaan't wait!!! Any last minute advice?? I love this school so much already!!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted and received interview invites!! I submitted all my materials July 30th and I am still under a preliminary review, much past the 6-8 week time frame given in the status. I do not think this looks too good considering some of you are saying you have been in the small pool status for over a month as well. Trying to stay positive though because I love this school!

Does anyone know if this school has sent any rejections pre-interview? Thanks

For those trying to construct a timeline -- Just entered preliminary review today after being at "application has been received" since mid August. They're still moving along!

Was just small pooled today. Was put under prelim review 2-3 weeks ago. Good luck everyone!

anyone here that has access to us news report and knows what the chance of acceptance is after interviewing? Thanks!

I was complete approximately the same time as you and just finally got small pooled this week. So hang on!

Is there a status other than small pooled after getting preliminarily reviewed? Just trying to figure out how significant getting small pooled at this school is since I was small pooled about a month ago and haven't heard anything else

Submitted in August, but still in "Your supplemental application has been received..." status. Should I call?

Also wondering what my chances are of being accepted post-interview. Anyone know the percentage??LOVED the school--the interview day was so well-planned and comprehensive. And Burlington is great!

+1 on Friday also...hope we hear good news soon!

yeh I submitted my secondary on 8/5 and still not complete...silent rejection?

Is the admissions committee supposed to meet for interviews today? Anyone hear anything?

Are there any MS1/MS2's that can share some info about the school? What do you like most about the school? Least? Do you enjoy living in the Burlington area?

This thread has consisted mostly of talk about the secondary app and I would just like to hear some info from a student about the actual school 🙂

any recommendations for nearby/decent hotels? 🙂

I booked a room at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel for 89$ (ask for the med-student interviewee rate) which seemed like a great deal. They also have shuttle service both to/from the airport and to the University as well which is pretty awesome, and it's only like 10 mins to both locations.

Otherwise here is some general lodging information found on the UVM website:

Apologies if this has been covered, but the status change (i.e. small pool etc) isn't accompanied by an email is it?

You sign a confidentiality agreement when you arrive, so we really can't share, but I promise the best way to get through the day and any interview is to just stay relaxed so you can think on your feet and be yourself. I genuinely just enjoyed the day and interacting with all of the other amazing applicants. Good luck on your day! I'm sure your experience will be a pleasant one!

Waitlisted today it's better than a rejection, but it definitely stings. Interviewed on 10/18.

Sorry to hear that 🙁 Did you get an email? I just checked the portal and it says, "Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Please check back for their decision, which will be posted shortly. Thank you." Hmmm....

Edit: ACCEPTED! Just got the email!!! 🙂
