2014-2015 University of Vermont Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I sent them in and they said they put them in my file, so I'm assuming yes.
Could you please tell me how you sent in your updates? Did you do it through the contact admission spot on the portal or through an e-mail?
Thanks for your help.

Congratulations!! How exciting 🙂. Did you receive news of your scholarship through email or snail mail?
I got offered same scholarship? Do you know how many students in the class receive merit based scholarships?

Guys I received an email from admissions saying I got an 80,000 dollar scholarship. Is this a common thing for someone who is out of state?
I received the same scholarship and am wondering the same question.

I think they said 10 - 15% of those accepted (I'm assuming OOS) are offered merit scholarships when I interviewed in October. It's fair to assume that UVM considers you all to be the bee's knees, so congrats!!

Two questions for those who have already interviewed and may have gotten these answered:

1.) Is an OOS student eligible to establish his/her state residency and pay IS tuition after the first year?

2.) Are the merit scholarships based on raw stats (MCAT/ GPA), or are they based on the strength of the whole applicant?

I am no authority on the subject whatsoever but will answer best I can
1) No, they made it clear it will be very difficult to establish residency to qualify for IS tuition. It didn't sound like it was impossible, just highly improbable
2)I really don't think they are based on raw stats but rather based on the strength of the whole applicant

1) when I interviewed, they say you can't get IS status when you move there 🙁
2) my scholarship email said "
The candidates selected for these awards have demonstrated excellence in every aspect of their applications." --- so interpret that as you wish

Does anyone know when the "second look" revisit day will be this year? Can't find it on the website...

I'm not sure if they set a date yet. I've been checking the Admitted Students page + UVM email just to see. I imagine they will schedule it in the next month...hopefully!

Just a heads up, I just talked with admissions and they're going to change the date of second look because the students have a big exam on April 10th

Wait, really? This is fantastic news 🙂

Haha! Finally under review after 20.5 weeks.

So I also just showed up under review- not sure what it means for my chances. Are schools still giving interviews? I'm a first-time applicant and have no idea where we are in "interview season".

Yes, there are still interview slots open. Most schools interview until late February/Early March. Don't lose hope yet!

Interviewed 12/11, just got waitlisted. 3.6/31

"Your supplemental application has been received. Please note that it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed; at certain times of the year, it may take as many as 10-12 weeks. You should continue to periodically check on the status of your file through the Online Applicant Center."

I've had this since late august. This is torture. Why wont they at least change me to under review already? This waiting to find out my future with all these schools is terrible. First world problems I guess..

If we were accepted should we expect anything in the mail? Or just the email?

That is surprising. I interviewed 12/17 and they said it would be at least Feb before we heard. What timeline did they give you on your interview day if you don't mind me asking?

Hey everyone! Just made an account here to give people my update. Much like keevwu, I interviewed on 12/11 and just got my acceptance email yesterday. I'm OOS, 32 MCAT, 3.9+ GPA for those interested. Good luck to everyone! It seems they say 6-8 weeks but not always the case.

anyone have input on how the waitlist movement is usually at U of Vermont?

Just the email for now! They may send acceptance packets out later in the spring, but I'm not really sure.

Just wanted to update everyone on this: after completing my background check, I received an e-mail stating that my formal acceptance packet would be arriving shortly-- so it's coming in the mail soon 🙂!

For those that have sent in update letters...Did admissions email you back confirming that the update had been added to your file? If so, about how long did it take?

Sweet, thanks. Out of curiosity, how long did your background check take?

Yes. I sent them one over the weekend and received a response Monday. This is post interview so more of an LOI I suppose.

same here! I also sent an update letter last week so hopefully that should shake things up. I've noticed schools have left a lot of us in silence this year

So we don't have to do anything to complete the background check, right? They just send you an email sometime after Jan 1st if you've been accepted in the fall?

For those who got a scholarship, did they notify you that you received a scholarship together with the acceptance letter, or did they notify you about the scholarship sometime later. Thank you

It came in an email some weeks after acceptance.

I was complete first week of August. Haven't checked my status since December so anytime between then and now.
