I'm wondering, has anyone heard of people being rejected post-interview? I've been following this thread since August but I don't seem to recall any post rejections? I guess I'm worried that everyone who isn't accepted is just auto waitlisted? Seems unlikely...

I think they are way behind on decisions. With the multiple acceptance date quickly approaching on April 30th how will this affect their decisions? Will they be less inclined to accept since they are rushing the through them? Or will they accept less because more kids with currents acceptance will commit?

Beats me. No sense worrying about it though. We've done what we can for this cycle. Whatever's going to happen is going to happen.

I've thought about this also, and clearly the only time committees are behind is after I've interviewed hahaha. but as the previous poster said, all we can do now is wait

This school showed so well at Closer Look.
We toured the anatomy/phys facilities and got to play with some healthy and diseased prosections. The faculty were totally engaged and enthusiastic.
The patient simulators in the clinical sim lab seemed well trained and very friendly.
Students really like the VIC curriculum. The VIC is really different than other schools be/c of the early Step 1 and early start to clerkships. I thought you'd have to study during the 1st summer to make up for the shortened time but none of the students do that. They were spending the summer doing research or learning spanish in S America or working on medical tech in SF.
Most of all the Match list for 2015 is impressive so the VIC must work!

Great global health sites for those interested. Uganda, DR, Zimbabwe, Russia, Vietnam, etc. Can do these during 2nd year even.

Student wellness director (of the "PCR" course) Lee Rosen was GREAT and students said they are "serious about wellness".

Thing I was most excited about were the stories about medical students getting very involved on their clerkships since they were often times rural and otherwise had few to no residents around. I won't mention any names but I've realized through my shadowing that this is not at all the case at med centers with tons of residents and fellows.

I think UVM won't give you the hustle and bustle of an urban med center but the UVM people explained that helps to make it a more balanced and healthy environment.

I wonder if the 2/11 group and all groups after are just being reviewed together. April 30th is now just about 3 weeks away so it's hard to imagine several interview groups hearing separately before that time...

I emailed them asking when we would hear back and they said they expect that information to go out around the end of April. What do you think that means?

I mean it's been 8 weeks since I interviewed. they told us we'd hear by the end of March, now the end of April. that'll be 11+ weeks since my interview. yay

Am I the only one who is a little concerned about the integrity of the school at this point? I realize decisions are difficult and can take a long time, but to say that you'll hear back by a certain time and then be an entire month off... UVM seemed fantastic, but I think I'll personally be hard pressed to attend at this point. Having not been able to go to second look day (assuming that I am accepted) was incredibly disappointing. I don't speak for everyone, but I'm not entirely sure I got a thorough enough feel for the school as a whole during my interview date. I got into a top tier DO school and they have kept everyone updated and been punctual throughout the entire process and I feel that this speaks to the way the school interacts with its students substantially. Thoughts?

@premedfire I would not judge UVM that harshly because they are a little behind at THE END of the application process. That is pretty normal and, as an accepted student at UVM, they have been extremely good at communicating, supplying additional information about the school, and answering emails in a timely manner.

I interviewed at my state school in October and still have not heard a decision from them (6 month wait so far), so one month behind is nothing, especially when they are probably waiting to see which accepted applicants withdraw this month.

Don't let the admission process discourage you from a school. Think about the program and how you enjoyed the interview day, etc.

It is good to know that they get better at communication once acceptance has been offered. I just would've preferred an update stating that there has been a delay. I'm completely ok with the extra wait 😀

It's worth a shot. Are you IS? The in-state acceptance rate is relatively high. If you are OOS, I would make sure to spend a lot of time on the secondary application and making sure that other aspects of your application are strong. Your performance on the interview day is very important.

Look at the acceptance information on the MSAR. According to UVM's OMSE Report they ave a 36% acceptance rate for Vermonters. Your odds are good.

i don't see anything in the traffic rules about 4/23. 4/30 is the date after which an applicant can no longer hold more than 1 acceptance

My mistake then. I thought there was a day when all students had to know their post interview status at the school. I guess it made sense that it was a week before they had to start dropping acceptances. It'll be kind of bizarre to hear from a school for the first time post interview after you've already had to drop acceptances...

Then again, given how well Duke is doing mucking everything up this year it seems that anything goes.

Just to provide some sunshine to the situation, rumor has it UVM is very particular about filling their in-state slots. Of course, I could be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if a VERY small number of OOS people get accepted outright. Thus, while I know we'd all love the initial acceptance, the waitlist is a pretty solid place to be. Look towards May, and I'm wishing you all the best of luck!

It will depend on the accuracy of the admissions officer's predictions on yield and their risk tolerance.
Everybody accepts more than the number to fill the class. How long it takes to drop to the target varies every year.
The biggest drop happens right after traffic day
Depending on the school and the year it could be anytime after that.
