So expensive...
it's probably safe to assume you've contacted them, but maybe try speaking with them on the phone and talk to them about the situation? I'd imagine a few scholarships will be "released" april 30th, maybe they can sort of preliminary promise you one over the phone...it's not a great situation to be in, i'm sorry and I hope you get some good news quickly!I want to go here so badly, but I have another option that is 1/2 the price. Really wishing for some deus ex machina in the next 24 hours or so :/

That's great, I wish you the best of luck, I sincerely hope it works out!I'm going to try to call very soon! I did send them an email recently, but still waiting on a reply. This is an amazing school/state (so much better than Virginia) and I definitely know some of the merit scholarship awardees are matriculating elsewhere!
Does that mean you got some aid? Or you are going there no matter what? Will be matriculating here after all 😀

Congrats!!I received some aid 😀 The scholarship doesn't completely ameliorate the cost difference between the last two schools, but I guess that extra money is worth my happiness over the next four years. My SO and I looked at the numbers (using MedLoans Calculator) and the repayment doesn't look too bad!
has anyone been accepted off the waitlist this week? I read that the committee meets on Wednesdays, and I know that the deadline to hold only one acceptance is today (April 30)....I wonder when the first wave of acceptances from the waitlist will be. Fingers crossed! :\
Looking through last year's thread and did a little research which might save you some time:Does anyone know how much waitlist turnover there has been for in-state applicants in the past?
Who do we email about asking for additional loans for health insurance? I guess that pushes the price tag up to $340K+ eek!

Any oos movement so far anyone?
I could be wrong but I thought someone said they would fill all the In-State seats first. So maybe next week will have OOS movement? Unless they start making acceptances in the next 5 hours that the office is open..Any oos movement so far anyone?
Are you referring to the following post:I could be wrong but I thought someone said they would fill all the In-State seats first. So maybe next week will have OOS movement? Unless they start making acceptances in the next 5 hours that the office is open..
Being IS, I wish they were filling IS seats first but the post by PieceOfMeat shows they will fill seats as they become available with an applicant of matching residency statusSpoke with someone from admissions today and she said that when someone withdraws, they try to fill that spot with an applicant who matches their Residency status. As in if an OOS student withdraws, they will likely fill with another OOS and vice-versa for IS. While this is not surprising necessarily, it is nice to know they will not be accepting solely OOS wait listers for financial reasons.
I have a feeling that whenever we have a feeling on what UVM is going to do we are wronghave a feeling next week is going to be pretty busy
Just to clarify, UVM has no requirement to offer 50% of seats to ISS. Each year there are about 100 applicants and most students offered seats accept them. There are about 30-35 Vermonters per class of 114.This is the kind of thing which is very frustrating as an in-state student on the waitlist. I know they only have to offer seats to 50% In-staters but after they have offered these seats they have no commitment to In-state students. This is especially problematic when you look at their class profiles for the class entering in 2014: 81 OOS 34 IS. That means that while they offered up 50% of the seats to VT residents, only 30% of the class was from VT. I know this is a stretch but with this information, I feel like anyone on the Waitlist as an in stater is as good as rejected.
Here is a potential example of this troublesome situation: 2 students, equally qualified (obviously impossible to be totally equal but humor me for a sec) are placed on the waitlist. 1 is Out of State and 1 is In state. An in state accepted student is accepted to Harvard Med and withdraws their application. Now UVM gets to decide who to offer their acceptance to: an in state student who will pay $37k/year or an Out of state student who will pay $61k/year? pretty obvious choice if you ask me. With this rant nearing its completion, please tell me, why in any scenario would UVM accept an in state student off the wait list? O well, it's only my entire life on the line, no reason to take it too seriously
isn't it better being in-state? MSAR stats say that nearly everyone who interviews instate gets in... and the only waitlist movement we've seen is from the in-state waitlist.Just to clarify, UVM has no requirement to offer 50% of seats to ISS. My post was to correct the statement that "I know they only have to offer seats to 50% In-staters," which is not true. There are no such rules about in state students. What is true is that after April 30, empty seats go to the best available applicant, regardless of residency.isn't it better being in-state? interesting, someone in this thread recently called and was told that they try to match the residency of the withdrawn student, i.e., if an OOS student withdraws, they will pull an OOS student off the wait listMy post was to correct the statement that "I know they only have to offer seats to 50% In-staters," which is not true. Seems like there still has been no OOS wait list movement? Wonder what is holding them up. Surely seats have opened up

that's because the drop date was 5/15 last year, not 4/30 like this yearLooks like most of the movement last year wasn't until mid May though. So it is possible that we all might have to wait another week.
