Interviewed 1/15, and just got the waitlist email 🙁 really bummed since I loved this school, but haven't lost hope yet, since I've heard there's a lot of waitlist movement.

Sorry to hear that 🙁 dont give up hopefully you will hear some good news soon.
Do you mind sharing how many people are usually in an interview session and do they have a rule like (***I AM MAKING THIS UP) on this date only 2/10 will get accepted 5/10 go on waitlist and 3/10 get rejected ? I know some of the school do something like that. So I was wondering if thats the case for CMU.

Has anyone here still not heard back? I haven't received an II but haven't been rejected either... Does anyone know when is the last interview day?

There are no set rules, from what the replys have been in the past, and from the admissions team said during the interview day.

I don't recall exactly how many people where at the interview day, but it was a bit less than 2 dozen in AM and same in PM session.

Received II 1/25, MMI 1/29, Acceptance 2/9. OOS.

The last interview day is in Feb.

AMCAS complete Sept 9, Secondary Application complete 10/7, Interviewed 1/15, Accepted by email a couple of minutes ago. OOS. PM me for more info if you would like.

edit: format

Congrats to everyone accepted!! I can't wait to meet you next year 🙂 I'm an M1 here so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me!

As an accepted OOS student, I am very anxious to find out the loan/financial aid/scholarship options for OOS students. Can anyone give me a bit of information on this? Thank you. 🙂

I believe we will be getting that info in the next couple months. You could always ask on the FB page as well. 🙂

Someone had already posted something similar on the FB page. I was just wondering what the norm was for OOS students. Like how much students are getting to live off of per year, loan/financial aid options, etc. I am trying to get an idea of what apartment complex to live in, and trying to get an idea of the price range is difficult without any idea at all as of usual amount students are able to get to live off of.

I did ask if there were any cases of students not getting enough financial aid, and what was done to make up the difference if there was a need. I was told by the financial aid guy, as well as several students that no students had ever been denied sufficient financial aid, whether IS or OOS. Thankfully cost of living is low in Mount Pleasant! That OOS tuition cost has to hurt... I hope you get IS cost after a period of time!

DITTO, lol... BTW, do you have any idea how that works? Haha.

Awesome! Pretty sure living in-state because of school won't qualify me for in-state tuition, though :/
might wanna check with the school on that... If you live here, pay rent here, pay utilities here, and pay for food here... I'd be willing to bet there is a way to make you a resident here. Or at least there SHOULD be a way....

Michigan has pretty strict rules about residency for in-state tuition. You actually have to live in Michigan for a year, not going to school and maintain a job before you can qualify for in state tuition. If you come here for school you can plan to pay out of state for 4 years unless you get some type of scholarship that will give you in state tuition rates.

Uck... Thankful I'm a resident!

Did this school have it's Dean step down?

I thought I should reply, even though you came back to the forum and changed your initial post...

A dean "stepping down," as you want to call it, does not reflect anything negative on a school. In a matter of fact, I know of several friends/current physicians who have had a number of deans in their years of medical school. As well, a dean stepping down probably in fact has nothing to deal with the school itself, but instead could be from personal problems outside of work altogether.

The deans currently working at Western Michigan's medical school as academic dean.

He has assumed a totally different role at Western. He is the dean of graduate medical education. Consider the different elements in the career as well as potential family issues or location preferences before you assume that him stepping down reflects poorly on the school.

I was told decisions will be made today and the calls and emails will go out tomorrow. But you are correct that it could take awhile before we hear whether it's today or tomorrow!

I guess nobody heard anything today then (tomorrow is the big day :xf::luck:) ! I was looking at the last year's thread and some people said if you get your interview in Jan/Feb you are pretty much interviewing for the waitlist since most of the spots are alrdy filled up 🙁 hopefully that's not the case. Anybody knows anything about that ?

Keep in mind that April 30 is the deadline for choosing a single school, and people can only hold on to one acceptance. In May the waitlists for most schools will start to move rapidly.

I'm assuming that's the case so I'm not expecting too much today, but you never know! ...and I would think the waitlist for central would move quite a bit as they haven't had a graduating class yet

Got the waitlist email as well. Considering it was late in the cycle i didnt expect much today (</3 lol)
In the interview they said 4 things can happen : you either get accepted wailisted put on hold or rejected. And unlike previous years waitlist is not ranked this year (no priority waitlist)

Does anyone know when they start accepting people from the waitlist ? Like even if people withdraw and spots becomes available do they still wait till april to accept people from the waitlist? And does anyone know what % of people get accepted from the waitlist?

The waitlist is not ranked, however, there is a priority waitlist

Oh thank you for correcting me ! then I am confused what does it mean when they say the waitlist is not ranked ? I only assumed cuz nobody in this year's thread said anything about being put on priority waitlist.
Well then I guess being placed on regular waitlist isnt as promising 🙁

I'm pretty sure that unranked means that at the meetings they review the applications of those on the waitlist again and accept them after that, rather then them being placed in a specific order.

Quick question for those accepted, can we email the scholarship application or does it need to be mailed in?

wait, there's a priority waitlist this year? i was under the impression that there wouldn't be one...
