2015-2016 East Carolina University (Brody) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm a reapp from last year (had an interview), with no decision made Pre-II this year... likely awaiting the rejection hammer.. unfortunate.

mine never even had that. it still says I'm scheduled for an interview

I was accepted 11/19 and mine still says that I've been reviewed but no final decision has been made. I paid my deposit and everything.

Mine still says that they've scheduled my interview but I received an acceptance letter. I don't think they're very good about updating those statuses.

As of December 15, 2015, we have .....
  • Received 1020 AMCAS applications
  • Received 932 Supplementary applications
  • Interviewed 371 applicants
  • Made 47 offers
(Generally it takes 120-135 offers to fill a class.)
Looks like they sped up quite a bit on acceptances. Guessing they're trying to reach a certain benchmark before the holidays kick in

For those of us who have been passed over post-interview multiple times now, at what point do we assume bad news?

I can offer some insight from last year.. I interviewed in October and didn't hear anything until January, which was a rejection...

So I would say like someone said above, if you're not rejected, you're still in the running. ECU is pretty good about rejecting those they don't want, so they won't string you along...

* this is all post-interview from a previous year...*

That's it for me, folks. Rejected pre-ii this year.

Best of luck.

Does anyone know how to withdraw your application after putting down a deposit? I can't figure out how to decline/withdraw?

Thanks you! Hope my spot goes to one of ya'll!

Send an email to the admissions committee

Long time lurker, first time poster. Rejected today. 3.8/32, complete late Sept. interviewed late Oct. Best of luck to everyone else and I'm hoping some of you hear some good news today!

Received 1020 AMCAS applications
Received 932 Supplementary applications
Interviewed 450 applicants
Made 57 offers

They mentioned at the interview on 12/13 that they were hoping to finish interviewing by the end of January and that they usually interview 500 applicants.

Sorry for being vain and quoting myself.

To put this in context I thought I might add last year's data from MSAR:
-925 verified
-480 interviewed

Roughly 120 days post-interview and counting!

anyone post interview get the "Your application is cued to go before the Admissions Committee" update? If so, when did you hear back after that?

I have that message too. "The timeframe is undetermined." And FWIW, IIRC the sheet that they gave us during our talk with the dean says that 95% of interviewees do not get accepted immediately after the first committee meeting.

As of February 1, 2016 we have .....
  • Received 1020 AMCAS applications
  • Received 932 Supplementary applications
  • Interviewed 500 applicants (interviews completed for 2016 cycle)
  • Made 65 offers
(Generally it takes 120-135 offers to fill a class.)
Interviews capped at 500. Looks like (according to their estimate) 24% to 27% of those interviewed will end up being accepted... Sitting at 18 weeks post-interview wooo

This thread seems kinda dead... I wonder if anyone has heard anything recently? Also, does anyone know when they send out acceptances? Is it bi-weekly or on a certain day?

Not sure if they have a pattern. Mine was a Friday around lunch

For those of you still in post interview purgatory, has your "last reviewed date" been updated at all? Mine still has my app last being reviewed back in November

Had no idea you could do this... If that refers to the "status date" field I just checked for the first time and it says Jan 27, 2016 for me. Interviewed back in October. Interesting

Has anyone gotten any recent updates? Seems a little dead lately.

Also, about how long did it take for your file to be reviewed by the committee once evals were complete? ("your file is cued to go before the admissions committee")

I've been wondering the same thing... My last status update was 2/1/16...

Looks like they give updates every 2 weeks, with approx 5 new offers every 2 weeks, so about 10 acceptances per month. With 70 potential offers still on the table as of 2/15, there should be about 5 more offers by the end of this week (for a total of 75 offers made), leaving 45 - 60 offers remaining.

If the rate of acceptances remains the same, we are looking at anywhere between 9 - 12 weeks left until all offers are made. That being said, it states online that nearly all decisions are made by early May, which is roughly 10 weeks away. My assumption is that the pace remains the same as it has been, meaning ~5 offers every 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Would love to be told I'm wrong and that all decisions will be be made by next week...

They're done with interviews and have been done for almost a month. The rate at which offers will be made will increase. They have no reason to wait.

last update it was at 70 so they've made 8 offers since mid-Feb
