You might have totally nailed it! Ms.Coward told my interview group that about 95% of interviewed applicants will be put in a middle sort of "hold" pile for further evaluation at a later date. She told us that most of us will have nothing wrong with our application but they simply don't have enough spots for all of us. Don't get down on yourself! I know that's way easier said than done.

Hey everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. I thought I owed it to the SDN community to let y'all know I got accepted Friday 11/6. I interviewed shortly after labor day weekend in early September. It was an email that appeared very similar to last year's rejection email- except it had better news. This was my second time applying. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Status page updated today to say my application has been reviewed but no final decision has been made as of yet. Interviewed in early September.

Mine still says they have scheduled my interview. Even though I interviewed in early September!

Apologies if Im late to the party (don't check SDN much), but I was accepted earlier this cycle as a re-app. Complete in July, interviewed in September and Accepted in October.
 
I just received an acceptance from Brody today! The e-mail looked identical to my rejection e-mail from last cycle so I was pretty shocked to open up the attachment and see an acceptance letter. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! Maybe we'll be classmates next year! [emoji4]

Looks like we have an update. I forgot what the offers were up to before, was it 27 or 24? Seems as if very few offers went out nonetheless, interesting.

As of November 30, 2015, we have .....
  • Received 1020 AMCAS applications
  • Received 909 Supplementary applications
  • Interviewed 315 applicants
  • Made 30 offers
    (Generally it takes 120-135 offers to fill a class.)

Based on this, they gave out 3 offers between 11/6 and 11/30. So... about one offer per week... Looks like they're waiting to finish a significant bulk of interviews before making more acceptance offers

They slow down...like really slow down around the holidays. I wouldn't expect to see a lot of movement until January.

I am perfectly ok with this since they got me on that "Please make sure you send your fall grades to us ASAP. They will be reviewed before a final decision is made about an interview" hold status.
 
I remember hearing somewhere that they like to have half the class filled by Christmas. So wouldn't that necessitate making about 30 more offers by then to get to the halfway point of their 120 total offers?

I remember him saying they usually give 40 offers by the end of the calendar year. So potentially 10 more acceptances this month, but who knows.

+1 Rejected this week as well. Almost the exact same stats/ECs/assessment of the interview.

Any luck with UNC?

Was this your first year applying to ECU? Good luck with your other schools!!
 
282NC: no love from UNC yet but I am patiently waiting! Dreaming that I will get good news from someone by Christmas but who knows! Maybe we will both have better luck with the heels...

Just received an acceptance letter. I interviewed at the very beginning of October so it's been almost exactly 8 weeks. I was a first time, in state applicant. It certainly wasn't a requirement that students be interested in primary care but I think it helped my application that I was upfront about wanting to study internal medicine and work in NC.
 
I'm usually just a lurker here, but thought I should chime in. Got an acceptance email today, first one! I was so sure it was a rejection email and I was giddy when I actually read it.

Anyway, Complete 8/27, interviewed mid-September, and just got the news today around noon. Good luck to those waiting!

My stats are on the high side for ECU, but I for sure want to stay in NC and am mostly interested in primary care, so that probably helped me a lot.
 
Status in portal changed to say that my app had been reviewed, but no final decision has been made. Did not receive an email -- I just logged in to the portal and saw it by chance.

Don't really know if this is a good or bad sign...

I believe this is a very normal status, at my interview they said only a very small portion have a decision at the first review of their app

My portal also says this. I think it's just a generic notification that they've reviewed us, not a good or bad sign either way.

I was accepted 11/19 and mine still says that I've been reviewed but no final decision has been made. I paid my deposit and everything.
