Hey guys, I was accepted earlier in the application cycle and wanted to know how I can become added to the Facebook group. If anyone knows how I would appreciate the help. Thanks!

Just search Louisiana State University Shreveport Medical School Class of 2020 and a private group should come up. Hit join and it will send an invitation to the moderators. Congrats on being accepted, see you in the fall!

Anyone move off the Acceptable List yet or does that come later?

I received a rejection letter dated for 1/29/16. I stopped recieving the update e-mails about 3 weeks ago. I only acquired in state status this year (from Mississippi). Awaiting rejection letter from New Orleans....

Sorry to hear that. At least you have time to work on your app before you reapply for next cycle of you need to. Right now I'd immediately call and either set a time to meet with Kennedy or ask to speak with him and "Politely" ask what was the reason you were rejected and how you could improve your application. Do it asap.

I am hoping it starts to move a bit soon. I think it will after New Orleans holds their advocacy meeting and some accepted applicants decide to go there.

No doubt. They also are waiting on this new budget to be dealt with. LSU released that there could be 35 spots cut from Shreveport, which is highly unlikely. Regardless, they can't give spots if they don't know 100% they will have them.

I was rejected after an interview. Tried to contact his office but he isn't speaking with anyone until April. Is that normal?
 
Dang. I think that is sort of normal as he is focusing on the applicants currently and doesn't want to waste time on those rejected. To be blunt, sorry..
 
I think they will wait until something solid is announced. If the government makes an agreement in the special session, then they may avoid cuts to higher education all together. So it is kind of all rumor and speculation as of now. I spoke to a friend of mine who is an MS1 over there and he said that there was no announcement or anything to them.
 
Any new IIs recently? I got the update email last week so I'm assuming I haven't gotten the axe yet but I haven't heard anything bedsides that. Last year I was rejected in January pre interview.
 
Does anybody remember seeing a post here from a guy named Mussarat about talking with the dean and being accepted into the first year at LSU Shreveport though he's currently a first year at a DO school? I can't believe I just made it up, but can't find any reference to it. If so, where'd it go? I wanted to ask him some questions for a friend.

That post was completely made up by someone else pretending to be that person. I know the guy mentioned in the post personally and the guy who wrote it wasn't him. The other guy made a fake account with his name just to make up stuff about him and make him look bad. Sucks that people are doing that at this level but that's the reality

I reported it and brought it to attention of my friend as soon as I saw it.

Ok. That's a really stupid thing to do. Thanks for clearing it up, and thanks for looking out for your friend. I'm sorry he has to deal with things/people like that.
 
82 on the shreveport fb page (granted all won't go there), and possibility of only having 90 spots next year if budget goes through. Not looking good

Thanks dude! Yeah I will definitely let yall know how it goes and what to expect.
 
So interviewed yesterday and here is what I have to say.

It was real laid back naturally as everyone says. None of my interviews were difficult though. It was really a good experience and the people were very welcoming and nice.

Exhausted though, it was a long day. They said letters should go out Friday though with the committee meeting tomorrow.

As far as the class, he said it's mostly full but there are open spots. There was no definite mention of how budget cuts will hit the school but they expect "some".

Anyone else interviewing soon.

So if we are on the acceptable list, think it would be a bad idea to set up a meeting with Kennedy sometime in April to see what I can do to improve my app for this year and next if needed?

If I'm remembering correctly, he doesn't start taking calls to set appointments until the beginning of May.
 
Ah the pressure. Letters were mailed Friday and haven't gotten mine in the Lafayette area yet.

That's not bad; I have always been told that getting on the A list at Shreveport is better than at New Orleans. I've heard it is a short list compared to New Orleans long list.
 
Does LSU always send out rejection letters to all of their applicants? Also does anyone know how late LSU will be interviewing?
 
I think so but then again I didn't get one last year and was on the A list literally until school started, never got an official rejection.

I think Mrs Hill said they interview until the end of April I think
