From what I have heard about OSU, there is an equal chance of getting accepted no matter what the interview date is. But I do know that that is the last interview date, so congrats!

Congrats! I just interviewed here and the first thing Dr. Capers said is that no one is interviewing for a spot on the waitlist. They pace out their acceptances so that everyone has the same chance of getting accepted, regardless of interview date. Also, I was totally blown away by this school!!

Thank you both very much for letting me know! just confirmed the interview date

Just like that, we've already hit March. The year is flying by. March is a busy month all across the College of Medicine. The M1s have a big block exam plus spring break, Match Day is fast approaching for the M4s, the M2s are doing board prep and are almost as absent as the M3s. Despite all that, I think everyone interviewing on one of the seven interview days in March will be pleasantly surprised by what we have to offer here.

Good luck to those finishing up their cycles, and if you've been accepted here, don't forget to come to Second Look! It's a great time, even if you're 100% sure you're coming to OSU. You don't want to miss out.

How long will they continue to hand out interviews for this month?

How long will they continue to hand out interviews for this month?

The 28th is the last interview day (excluding Medpath), and as you can see interviews are already going out for that day. How long interviews are given out is entirely dependent on how long it takes to fill all remaining interview days with 14 confirmed applicants. Some people cancel interviews at this stage for a variety of reasons and those spots have to be filled, but as you might expect that will likely be completed within the next week or so, barring last minute cancellations.

Does anyone know if we're able to access our secondary application? When I try to log in I just get redirected to the OSU professional school website.

Well, got one of the last acceptances on 3/4/2016 at that med school in Ann Arbor, not to be named. As I am instate, I will be giving up my OOS spot as a Buckeye. Best wishes to one of you to get my seat at THE Ohio State College of Medicine. Go Bucks, but will be Going Blue this summer. Cheers to the BIG 10!!

Congrats!! Id love to take your seat lol!!

those that sent update letters, where did you send them to?

I interviewed here today. After so many months of no communication(complete sometime in August or September), I had assumed that they weren't interested. So when I got the II a couple weeks ago, I assumed it was a rejection until I opened the email. I was really surprised that they were still offering interviews, and after reading through this thread, even more surprised that it was for actual acceptance spots, and not just a waitlist.
It was a really great experience for me, and no matter what the decision, I'm glad to have interviewed here. They gave us an actual date for when to expect their decision (03/22), so I'll be looking forward to that!

This is just painful :meh:

You were one of the applicants who had today as the date to receive their decision through our medSTAR system. Due to a national AAMC website outage yesterday, these decisions were not able to be posted yesterday. They have now been posted, but our medSTAR system takes a day to update. You will receive your decision tomorrow, March 9.

We are very sorry about this delay. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Thank you for your continued interest in our College of Medicine!

I know! This is killer.

Deferred 🙁 but still hopeful. I don't really have anything to update at this point (a week after my interview lol) but has anyone had any luck with like a letter of intent? Or just an update emphasizing my interest in the school? Really want to go here...I hope I get Rainbow Zebra's spot haha.

Congrats to those who were accepted!

Is there a Facebook group for accepted students?

Any deferred applicants heard back lately? I want to write OSU a letter of continued interest, but I don't really have any updates. They are my top choice, but I know letters of intent aren't taken too seriously.... Anyone have success with interest letters?

Has anyone still heard nothing since July-ish? Safe to say it's a reject at this point. so I may as well just withdraw...?

Have you checked the medstar portal? It should have your application status on there!

Yep! Still just status as received, we look forward to reviewing your application, etc.

Huh. Weird... I believe their last interview date is 3/30 or so, so they should've said something at this point? Perhaps call them if you wanted a concrete answer - otherwise I guess it's safe to assume silent rejection?

Same. At this point it's not even worth my time to call them just to confirm I was rejected. I have very little to complain about this cycle, but I will say, as schools get more and more applicants, I'm noticing the rise in tacit rejections.

Any news on financial aid yet? Getting panicky over here...
Any news? IIRC, they said they want everything done before April 15th(?). But I also remember hearing something along the lines of meeting every few weeks. Have people received updates from the office or is it everyone at the same time?

I called the office, and they said the only date they could give at this point was April 15 to hear anything, be that merit scholarships, loans, etc.

Yeah was looking through last years thread and April 15th was the date that was consistently referenced then. But then there were a bunch of delays and I don't think they ended up getting any financial aid until like April 27th or 28th. I know it ended up being pretty close to the deadline of April 30th. So who knows for this year.

Does anyone know if this school is receptive to letters of interest?

Also, what are the chances of getting accepted off the deferred or waitlist?

Also, what are the chances of getting accepted off the deferred or waitlist?

Per MSAR data: 48 students were accepted from the waitlist last year. Total number on that list is given as a range of 100-400.
