2015-2016 Temple University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is what their website says:

Temple said:
If you submitted an AMCAS application to TUSM in a previous application cycle, you are considered a reapplicant. There is no penalty for reapplying, but your current application should have been strengthened since the previous application.

Does anyone know the number of applicants interviewed and accepted at the St. Lukes campus?

At the interview they said they interviewed 64 people last year for 30 spots. Probably similar numbers for this year (I know they still want a class of 30). So they probably accept a few more than that, maybe ~45?

Wow... 45/64? That's a damn good yield.

How many applicants put St. Luke's as #1? Probably not very many, right?

What are the stats of people who are getting interviews?

Hey, does anyone know how to schedule an Interview?

TUSM's schedule is not letting me work it. So confused.

Just wondering if you ended up calling and what they said if you did.
Basically the same thing that was said on interview day. But they will notify everyone regardless of their decision status, so if you are on the continuing candidate list you will still get a status change.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I went back a few pages and didn't see anything. Does Temple have a student host program? If so, how do I access this information? Thanks 🙂
EDIT: Found the link never mind!

anyone from the 9/29 interview date hear anything yet?

I interviewed the same week as you, and have not heard anything. I'm not sure how some people have begun to hear admissions decisions, but if I had to guess, I would expect we will hear back closer 6 weeks post-interview. During my interview they said they meet every Friday to go over applicants, and send out a monthly batch of admissions decisions. I assume since we were the first week, we will have to wait to hear anything until admissions decisions were made for those who interviewed in the 3-4 weeks after us.

Has anyone been successful with getting through to the admissions office? I tried to call them and the interview office last week and I e-mailed both the admissions and interview office and I am having no luck. Their recording said that they are open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 am - 4:30 pm, but I tried calling both offices again today and I am still having no luck. Sorry for such a long post! I am freaking out a little bit :help:
Honestly you just have to keep trying. I called 4 times before I got a hold of someone.
Aren't there four med schools in Philly. Five if you count D.O.?
Yes but Goro calls Jeff, Temple, and Drexel the Philly triplets because they are so similar in stats, and Penn is well Penn.

showed up in my portal tonight. II! 🙂 submitted 8/8 but MCAT didn't come back until 9/8. no official email correspondence though -- when should I expect that?

EDIT the day after... got the email this morning to schedule! 🙂

Any advice on how you did that mcat jump?

yeah don't take the damn test until you're ready. and don't rationalize like "omg i studied so hard i need to move on with my life"

no. no you don't. don't just study HARD, study efficiently. i am convinced that the MCAT is designed to test one's level of commitment to the field. as well as other things, obviously. but i personally believe that even the new exam isn't gonna tell adcom's too much regarding how good of a doc you're gonna be (how could it? what standardized exam could tell how one would handle someone in tears when they're told their mother only has 2 months left to live? medicine is more than just a science, it's an art -- and if you can't or do not desire to reach and encounter the patient who is in a vulnerable position with fraternal love and compassion, I would humbly ask you to give up your spot as a medical student and go work in a lab so someone else can.)

the old test's ability to predict future success fell sharply after USMLE Step 1 exam. we'll see what the new MCAT predicts. regardless: you must get past it. you must beast it! it's worth it! 🙂

as to how? i recommend Khan Academy, the official guide to the MCAT exam, NextStep Exams, ExamKrackers exams (not their books), TPR's LiveOnline class sucks but their TPR Science Workbook is good, and a hell of a lot of practice. Berkeley Review made me cry sometimes, but those books helped me get a 129 on the bio section. (my first score was a 7! or a ~123/124!), and finally and most importantly...for the love of God, do every single AAMC question released on their website today--all the Q Packs, and all the practice material for the 2015 exam.

This was inspiring and I've already taken the MCAT lol. Congrats on your score!

Did anyone that went to the St. Luke's interview also visit Temple University on their second activities day? My understanding is that this is the interview day for people that applied to the main campus. How did you dress for the event?

everyone from the 9/29 interview date still not hear anything?

Interviewed the second week and haven't heard anything.

I really hope it is not more than 6 weeks - its already been 5 :/

Would anyone who has interviewed be able to share about the Clinical Skills Facility activities? Is this sort of an MMI component of the interview day?

Nothing to stress about! I wouldn't put any time into trying to prep for it. It's their first year even adding this component so it likely won't factor much into decisions
