2015-2016 Tufts University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How did you all send thank you notes? I figured there would be an email on the little description sheet for each interviewer but there isn't an email. Do I upload them through the secondary app? Mail them to admissions?
I just emailed the letters to the admissions email, Emily said at our interview that you can do that and they'll send them appropriately.

I mailed cards to admissions

I brought my thank you cards to the interview with full postage, addressed to the office of admissions. When I left, I filled them out and then dropped them in a mail box on my way to the airport. Seems overkill, but I realized that my interview day memory isn't that great, so I wanted to write thoughtful notes while they were still fresh.

Does anyone know when 2nd look day is? Is there a Facebook page for admitted students?

Has anyone who was deferred post-interview heard back in anyway? Hoping a miracle may happen and eventually get accepted, though I am sure a deferral will likely turn into a wait list...

Congrats! Mind sharing your complete date and what interview dates were available? I'm curious to see where they are in the process.. Thanks!! =)

I saw 4 dates in Feb. and 5 dates in Mar. still available.

When were you complete?

Just my observation after being on SDN for this entire cycle.

"When were you complete?" is probably the most often asked question with least significance. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for AdComm decisions to II based on WHEN an application was complete. All of my apps were complete way back in July. The IIs I have had were spread out all the way from early August to late December and am still waiting to hear back from a dozen schools.

I know it can be nerve racking playing this waiting game. Good Luck and Best Wishes!!!

Agreed. At this point in the year, when you were complete has nothing to do with it - unless you submitted last Friday.

I don't know if Tufts is done with sending out II but on the portal, my status us: Your application is ready!
Does that mean they have not reviewed my application yet!?

That's what mine says and has said since day one.
Don't worry about it, pretty sure everyone has that same status.

Edit: I am not sure on your question about whether or not they reviewed us yet... my guess is that they have but idk.

Mine says that too and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of schools have reviewed all their applications at this point.

mine says that post interview FWIW haha, so I'm fairly sure it has nothing to do with whether or not you've been reviewed!

It just means that they received everything. It's a generic response. Don't look too far into it.

Tufts currently has 9 interview dates still open. These go through the end of March. There's still time.

For those of you who've filled out the FAFSA already, do you know when we typically find out ?

How did you do it so soon? Did your parents already file for this year? The Tufts email said we had to use this year's taxes and aren't allowed to estimate or use last year's, even if our parents file late. Am I totally not understanding how this works?

I work for the government and just got my W2, and still have to wait for my parents since I'm not over 38!

Visiting Tufts in the next 1-2 weeks. Can someone give me an idea of what the interviews are like (mostly behavioral, discussing your past experiences, etc.?) I haven't done a 1-1 interview since Nov, so feeling very rusty and nervous.

Accepted! Re-applicant. So excited. Got the call at 5:45am while on my honeymoon in Hawaii.

To everyone still waiting on a II, keep you spirits up. I know the struggle but can certainly say the payoff is there.
Stats?

Just relax and have a nice conversation. Review your app a few times prior and make sure you can answer the big questions but other than that, take it easy. Be friendly!

Why Tufts? Why Boston if your OOS?

Every time I scroll by this thread I get sad. Really wish deferred applicants had a better chance of acceptance 🙁

Has anyone deferred ever been accepted without the wait list first? I checked the past 3 years threads and only found one instance of someone claiming their friend may have gotten directly in off it.

During my interview, I met someone who had been deferred but was accepted for the incoming class but a seat was held for her for the following year. She told me there were a few people in her class that had also been deferred.

I haven't forgotten you Tufts! Although with this overwhelming silence, maybe I should have...

Silence this late makes no sense to me. Especially since they do rejections.
I have total silence from 15 (including Tufts). Holds from 2. Rejections from 6 (after today). Been 4-6 months for all the schools. Excruciating at this point. Most of the schools I applied to historically reject folks pre-II, so I don't know what's going on. Maybe my non-trad'ness is a puzzle? Or the new MCAT has them confused? Or a rising number of applicants? Or they are wondering why I used my mom as a LOR (I didn't -- maybe I should have!). Working on plan B at this point, slogging through...

Tufts: Make my day and give me an II! I promise to attend.

This. This is the story of my life.

Is it safe to assume they are meeting today and didn't last Thursday because of the holidays? Did anyone hear anything this week?
They usually meet the third week of the month and the holidays were part of the weird half week before the first full week in January, but I'm with ya also waiting.

Can anyone current students or completed interviewees speak to the curriculum at tufts or what's unique about the program?
