2015-2016 Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm still curious about how many people were sent that email. If they did only send it to the top 25-30 people, other people who didn't receive it could still stand a serious chance at acceptance!
For real! I would love to know how many that went out too. Could save us from having to speculate on yet another matter.

While I don't want to get ahead of myself.... I would think he would send it to less people so as not to give anyone false hopes, like he only sent it to the top 20ish people that he actually expects to be calling and offering a acceptance to. Just my personal thoughts.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic though, haha.

Those are my thoughts too. I think he tries really hard to be encouraging, yet not give anyone any false hopes. But then again, what do we know? Haha

I agree with you.

This may be a bit personal, so I understand if no one responds: did anyone have to submit a medical waiver? If so, how long did it take for you to get a response from DoDMERB? I got the "likely email" from Dr. Saguil, but am here waiting for a waiver for more than three weeks.

Hello! Im happy to share. I did have to submit a waver, and was able to get my qualification. The waver process can be lengthy. I was told from 3-4 weeks, so it looks like you are about to get your response. I would call them because my D0DMERB account didnt update after I got mywaver aproved and my qualification granted. Mine was aproved two weeks after submission so your waver might already be processed. Call DoD MERB or call Ms. Auslander at USUHS. They are both really helpful! Good luck!

Any good news today? I haven't seen much movement on the air force wait list... makes me nervous!

I wish 🙁. Air Force is my first choice but I'm on the alternate waitlist. So, I'm pretty much out of the running for this cycle. I just like to keep cheering everyone here in the forum. I trully enjoy everyone's success stories!

Was out of the country, my sister was checking religiously for me and said I received a voicemail on Monday morning from Col. Saguil. Called back first thing Tuesday morning and was offered a spot for the Air Force and ACCEPTED!!! Don't lose hope guys!

Woot woot! Congratulations!

Congrats to all that have been accepted!! Good luck to those still waiting!! I'm getting so excited!!!! Anyone looked at housing prices? My partner and I are talking about looking for a larger home and having a few roommates, any one interested?

Nothing today? Feels like it's moving slow this year.
How representative do you think is the sample of SDNers that post to the population of applicants that are on the wait list / alt list? I honestly don't know. It could be incredibly biased, but then again the average premed I know is quite neurotic. Questions that keep me up at night...

Well. Some good news to lift everyone's spirits! My tomato plant somehow survived winter. Despite my best efforts to kill it (put it outside too early). It is currently growing 14 tomato's!

I don't like tomato's. All of this because drunk brain thought a rotten tomato would make good fertilizer for my aloe plant.... one+ year ago.

I think my habanero plant has been finally overwhelmed by aphids this past month. It looks very, very sad.

Accepted Navy! Interviewed 8Oct, Waitlisted Mid Nov. **** YEAAAAHHH. (How the hell am I going to move these damn tomato plants?) Literally just got off the phone.

Woot woot! The tomatoes will be fine!!!! The moving companies have ways to transport them. Though they are fertilizer for your aloe so... hey, maybe just make a good salad with the fruit that is currently growing and leave the plant behind. It has already shown signs that it can survive in harsh environments so it should be ok hahahaha. Life is good! I have a great pico de gallo recipe... think about it for the tomatoes. Some tortilla chips, a corona on the side and all is good! Congratulations for you and your Aloe plant! hahaha.

Congratulations!! Hopefully your tomatoes are still alive after training this summer! My husband always let's my plants die when I'm gone =(

@ThirtySixAlpha I once convinced a junior Sailor that a habenero was a sweet pepper and watched him chomp right into one. He told me he couldn't drive for 45 minutes because his eyes wouldn't stop watering :soexcited:but damn aphids. Did you spray it with vinegar-water? Idk why but that normally works for me.

Organic salts, then Sevin, finally a ladybug swarm. I think they're gone, but the plant is toast.

In other news, congrats on the call! I'm hoping that talking about horticulture followed by an acceptance is a trend. :highfive:

For those of you who have contacted the admissions office asking for feedback on how to improve your application, who did you e-mail? Your admissions counselor directly? And did you CC Saguil also?

I emailed my admissions counselor and left LTC Saguil off of the email.

Looks like I will be continuing my Army career with you fine folks this summer now also. LTC Saguil called me around 1300 today.
Congrats! Do you mind if I ask... did you receive the "encouraging email" from LTC Saguil a few weeks ago?
