2015-2016 University of California - Davis Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From looking at past years, I see it basically means if someone calls in sick for an interview they call you. Email notification.

Yaass lawddd just got a secondary. Super pumped because the UCs have showed me very little love so far. There's still hope!
YASSSSSSS, Child.

Sweet baby Jesus.

I got the application rcvd email from Davis on 7/15 and I still havent heard about a secondary or anything! Glad someone else is in the same boat as me.

Application received email on 7/15 as well, but no secondary yet. Why do you not love me Davis??? *crying*

Do ya'll think it's too late to forward my primary application to this school?
In State, 507MCAT, cGPA: 3.7; sGPA: 3.5

If you don't apply you will never know.

Thank you for your message. I sent in my application Friday at 6:00PM and got a secondary on Saturday at 4:00AM. I thought this school screened heavily. Anyhow, hopefully I'll be able to submit the secondary by Monday morning.

What on earth is an interview waitlist? There's a level of hell I didn't even know existed.

just placed on interview waitlist - does anyone know exactly what this means?

I'm not sure but from my understanding, it means they'll contact you if someone is unable to make an interview.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Also if this helps, I met a guy who last year got into UCSF and then decided to skip all his other UC interviews. I'm not saying it's the norm, but here's hoping you get your chance to interview!

Anyone have any MMI prep tips? I was planning on scrounging up some practice questions online and answering them out loud in front of a friend.

I found these two videos extremely helpful

When you go to these links there are a bunch of other links on the right pane that look useful. Haven't looked at them as yet.

Good Luck!

I'm hoping the NYMC CASPer was some kind of good prep. I wish I knew...

Regarding the secondary questions, for our three experiences, should we only select experiences in which we have a letter of recommendations for?

I didn't. I used the same ones from my primary and I did not have a letter from 1 out of the 3.

Pre-interview hold tonight. Any idea what the outlook for that is? Tacit rejection?

Is that the same as "interview waitlist," or a different status? Mind sharing when you were complete?
Sorry, was conflating the pre-interview hold status at UCSD with this one, which was, in fact, the interview wait list.
When did you submit your secondary?
Around July 15

OOS MD/PhD applicant here and STILL haven't received a secondary! (although I got one from UCSF and UCI) Should I call it quits or contact them to see if they received my primary? (I took the April 2015 MCAT and I'm afraid that's slowing the process down)

Interview wait list too. I submitted my secondary around the end of July. I know it's not the same as a rejection, but I feel a bit disappointed anyway.

What were your stats if you don't mind me asking? Did you receive an email?

That's some crazy stats! I'm sure you'll get an II soon!

Thanks! Judging by what I'm reading from previous years, the chances of getting an II after being wait listed are rather slim. Maybe I'm just not a good fit here though and it's for the best. Good luck to everyone still in the running!

IS LizzyM low 70s, applying MD only, still awaiting secondary.

I got an application received email from Davis on 7/15 but haven't heard anything from them since then. Did anyone get a secondary after this long?

Has anyone received a presecondary rejection from Davis or are they silent rejectors?

Lol if you're trying to follow/watch the thread, you can just click "watch thread" at the top

xD

Not that. I had written something a little too specific and wanted to keep anonymity.

What's the best way to get from SMF to Davis Medical Center?

same boat, email 7/15 and nothing since. 4.0/37 don't worry about it =] every school has a different process

If we're going by this thread, it seems as if there haven't been any interview invites in a while. Complete 7/30 and hoping to hear back soon! Davis seems to have a warm, friendly and incredibly service-oriented environment. Hopefully it works out!

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to submit recommendation letters after submitting our secondary? I've submitted at least 3 LOR's so it shows complete on my secondary, but I'd really like to submit my secondary today or tomorrow (but still waiting for another LOR to come). I don't want to wait till the LOR comes to submit because it has already been over 2 weeks since I received the secondary application invitation.

update: Never mind.. it looks like we can submit without all of the LOR's. I just hope they don't review it before receiving the last LOR.

Letters of Recommendation

The 30 calendar day deadline does not include the letters of recommendation.
