2015-2016 University of California - Davis Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I sure hope they're not finished making phone calls... 🙁

I am really hoping to get a call. I interviewed 9/4....

Earlier I read a post that someone didn't get the call until Monday last year

Does anyone know if they always call first or if they sometimes e-mail first?

Just waiting here like....

Huge Congrats! How about some details. What time? Was it Salcedo? Did you select a tailored track or did you get a call for regular MD? I wonder if he gets an alpha list to call people and just works his way down the list.

My wife was interviewed August 28 and we are eagerly awaiting news.

I'm the wife of that one above and... I GOT THE CALL!!

Ok, well I didn't actually GET the call. I'm at work and my phone has no reception so I put it by a window and tried to forget about it. A little later I went to check and saw I had a missed call. I raced outside and reverse looked up the number. It was Dr. Souza!!! I had to keep it together as not to cry at work, and I called him back. I'M A MEDICAL STUDENT!!

I can't breathe now and I'm so happy!! If you're still waiting, don't stress. You got this!!

My wife made it! She realized she was not getting a phone signal and moved her phone close to a window around 11:30 AM Pacific. She checked the phone a little after noon and saw a missed call and did a reverse lookup. She found out it was Dr. Sousa and went outside to call him back. This has been such a long haul for us. She has worked so hard to get to this point and I am so very proud of her.

She interviewed on 8/28 with a LizzyM of ~69. She is an in-state applicant and did her undergrad at Davis. Due to the phone signal issue, it's unclear when Sousa first tried to call, so I can't confirm any suspicions about what order they are calling selected applicants (i.e. by interview date, alpha, by program selected for, etc.).

I wish all of you the very best of luck and am sending positive vibes to everyone for a successful outcome. If anyone is reading this that is reluctant to apply here because their MCAT score is not what they hoped for, or they have what they consider a subpar grade on their transcript, etc... my wife is proof that with hardwork and a dedication to service you can achieve your goals. When you come from the downside of advantage, like she and I did, the thought of achieving something like this seems vaguely ludicrous and something that belongs solely in your imagination. But, she is proof that for those of you out there pushing towards your dreams with little more than perseverance and sheer guts... IT'S POSSIBLE!!!

well, I'm calling it for today. GL everyone!

Would you guys ever call to ask if you got in? It has been 42 days since interviewing... There was a nice lady during the interview who had said that we could call her about acceptance when I interviewed. Does anyone remember this?

they told us to wait until the 17th, and then call them.

Ah ok. Do you happen to remember who we should call? What day did you interview? (I'm wondering if it was the same day as me...)

I am assuming we should call the admissions office. I interviewed on 09/18. I wish I knew in which order they are calling.

I am confident that they have not forgotten about people. I interviewed a little later than you, but I remember them telling us we'd hear by the end of the month, so probably not time to freak out yet!

Do you guys think we could be called on the weekend? or is it now Monday at the earliest?

Is it appropriate to call and ask about rej/waitlist yet? Also, sorry to break everyone's hearts but my friend who goes to UCDSOM said he spoke to Dean Sousa and he said he was done making all the calls. 🙁. At this point I just want to know if it was at least a waitlist or a flat out rejection.

That hurt a little...

Anyone who interviewed on 9/11 receive a response? Either phone call or email?

I interviewed on 9/11 and have heard nothing. It seems that only those who were accepted from that group have had any updates.

Can anybody else confirm this? Are the early September interviewees really just waiting on waitlist vs rejection spots?

Well...this is just unfortunate. I was really hoping to cancel several interviews and save money.

Did any of the interviewers on 9/18 get a call or any type of portal change?

Huh. I think I've reached the moment where I have actually internalized the notion that if I don't have a call by now I...might not be getting one. Or even "probably won't".

I don't think I like this whole 'reality' thing. I preferred my unfounded optimism.

@mehc012 you and me both, and I feel weirdly at peace.

I'm just hoping for a waitlist. From the materials they sent out, ~110 acceptances go to the waitlist, which I think is even more than they give out post-interview!

If I get rejected, then I may start worrying about my application/interview skills.

I'm not at peace, and I don't really care whether it's a waitlist or a rejection. Either way it blows.

Sorry folks, I don't mean to rain on your parades...I really am happy for everyone who got the call; part of what I loved so much about my Davis interview was the group I was in on interview day and I'm stoked to think of you guys going to school there!
