Trash about SoCal? I've been wanting to move back to SoCal for NINETEEN YEARS. I've lived in MA, CA, WA, PA, and NY----southern CA is hands-down the best part of the country I've lived in thus far.

Hopefully I'll end up in SoCal for either medical school or residency -fingers crossed-

Oh, well. San Diego is basically NorCal South. I understand where the confusion comes in.
 
Hi everyone, I have a question with which some of you may help me with. I am registered to take the MCAT on September 12th which means my score won't be released until October 13th. According to MSAR, the deadline to apply to UCLA is October 15th. Do medical schools get MCAT scores as soon as they're released? I know I am applying really really late, but is it possible to make the deadline if I get my application submitted prior to MCAT release?
 
What is up with sending official transcripts?

Does UCLA not trust the AMCAS verification?

Actually on our interview invite form it asks us to send them official transcripts as soon as available. While I don't think they will be relevant to the interview, I think ucla probably uses them in their final decision.

Hey guys, did you receive a complete email? I checked my status and the secondary is received - does that mean it is complete as well?

Same question here. It says LORs received on the 7/27 and secondary on the 28th. No email though.
 
Ahhhhh huge congrats to those getting IIs!!! I hope to meet a lot of you guys in the coming months 🙂
 
I got a secondary over a month ago but have not submitted it. Regardless of the reason why, will admissions look down on this? Does UCLA still end out secondary after August?

They received my LORs on 7/2...and I haven't gotten one either. Losing out hope but strangely apathetic about it now. I think I've accepted the possibility I was screened out and most likely just not what they were looking for.

I had called a few weeks ago and the lady said that they didn't have a chance to review my app yet (along with a ton of other June-verified apps) so I'm going to call on Monday to check again. UCLA has a superb hematology program and for that I'm really hoping for a secondary and a chance to come to this school!

Check your MSAR to see if there's a deadline! 🙂 For some schools its 4 weeks from the date you were invited to complete the secondary. It varies.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is due this Thursday. I was being a little neurotic. I'll try to submit it tonight or tomorrow =)
 
Just called admissions this morning and my June-verified application is still 'under review' which is pretty vague since they can't tell you if you have been screened out of a secondary or not :I
The lady did inform me that they DO NOT review on a rolling basis so there is a possibility of getting a secondary anytime between now and January, and interviews are held until March so there's still lots of time 🙂
 
is it bad if I haven't recieved a secondary yet?

oho you're the second Cal alum I've met here on SDN! But given the size of the uni, we probably would have only met if we had similar majors/classes, unless you saw me performing on campus at an acapella event or something 😀

I did know some of the people in fcs but not that well.

Ahh I knew a few friends who were in AiR! I was with FCS from fall 2011-summer 2013 so if you were with AiR during that time, I might have seen you in passing at one of the campus events or something 😀
